"Mary Adams? Naw, I don't see you on the list here..." He sifted through the Book of Names at the front gates, eyes scanning over each name, doing a good job of keeping a straight face, if he was so tempted to toot his own horn. He saw the worry-struck and nervous look come over her glowing face. Jadon laughed, shaking his head. "I'm only kiddin' ya. Get bored around here, y'know? Go on in, Mrs. Adams. Welcome." As he flipped back to the first page, he felt a tap on his shoulder. Wincing, he hesitantly turned his head. "Saint Peter, what a pleasant surprise." Without an exchange of another word--with Peter there was no need; one look was all it took--Jadon slipped out of the way of the pedestal and shoved his hands in his pockets, wandering toward the edge of the cloud, looking down on Earth. Maybe he should go back. He really wasn't supposed to be here. But Earth was starting to bring back memories; memories he didn't really care for. Didn't want to face yet.

Really, it was getting to be ridiculous. Before it was just that she preferred Earth to Heaven. But now, it was as if she could not stand to be in Heaven. It was just so much... less than Earth. But she didn't want too many to grow aware of how uncomfortable she was in her home. So she stayed. But she strayed. She lingered on the outskirts of Above. Like currently, she was wandering near the Gates, watching the souls pass through to "The Kingdom." She could only hope that they enjoyed it better than she. She wanted to be on Earth. Catching sight of Jadon, Shekinah's mood brightened. The other angel was always good for entertainment. She lifted her hand in acknowledgement and called, "Jadon!" Drawing closer, her lips quirked into an amused half-grin. "What're you moping about?" she asked, smile tinting her tone.

His head snapped up when he heard his name, and his eyes drew over to Shekinah. "I don't mope," he defended, sitting down on the cloud, swinging his legs over, fixing his jacket. He couldn't get that stupid Italian opera out of his head. Why the fuck was his mother's voice so prominent? She died decades ago. Why couldn't he forget her? She was here; in Heaven, but why couldn't he see her?
Fuck, he didn't even want to.
"Wandering?" he asked.

"Wandering?"
"S'what I do," Shekinah defended back. She sat next to him, though, and ruffled his hair lightly. "I was just joking before but now you really look down." Plus she could feel the imbalance within him. Just part of her charm as her job. She used her photokinesis to dim the light around them a bit, to make it a little more comfortable. "Something wrong?"
Kicking her feet a bit, Shekinah fought against looking down. Fear of falling wasn't why, just longing.

"Oh, you were?" he countered with a raised brow and bitter sarcasm, though it ended with an inflection of a joke. He didn't mean to counterattack, but he didn't want to get into this much. O Del Mio Dolce...something, goddamn it, what is it? I can't remember, but she sang it so perfectly. Well, not perfectly. Over a pot of pasta while Dad came home. And sharp some times. But it sounded good to me...
Sighing defiantly, he flopped back with his arms outstretched, chalky clouds of...well, cloud...fogging around him with the force of his fall.
"Nope."

Shekinah watching him with a incredulous quirk to her brow. "Riiiight. Sure." She flopped next to him, reclining on her side. She wished she was an empath. She wanted to help Jadon, maybe soothe his emotions. As it was, all she could do was offer him some secular comfort. She drew a hand over his forehead softly, rubbing in a soft pattern.
"Hate to get all after-school-special on you but, you know I'm always here for you, right?"

He looked over at her as she caressed his forehead, and he scoffed, a tiny smile playing at his face. "Yeah, I know--for the past eighty years." Distraction, distraction; need a distraction... Snapping his fingers, he conjured a cartoonesque bone, and then shifted into a beagle, happily and awaitingly wagging his tag, picking up the bone in his mouth.
Come on, Kinah, please, he begged her. I'm bored and need something to get my mind off of everything--things that happened eighty years ago. He cocked his head, knowing what she was thinking with that look on her face. I know I'm pathetic for shifting into a dog and wanting to play fetch. Humor me. I'm an unstable eighteen year old...sort of. Just throw the bone.

Shekinah laughed at that and planted an innocent kiss to his lips. Jadon was a sweetie, really. He just had a lot of baggage... like the rest of them there... Once more her thoughts swerved to Dominick and falling. At least being on Earth, having a job, a purpose, something to do, would keep her mind off things and the past and the fact that she didn't have a past any more.
He shifted to a beagle then and shook her head. She took the bone and changed it to a frisbee. Much more fun. She whistled softly and tossed the toy, waiting for him to return. She had to create a little wind to help it go, though, be in Heaven there was no wind or weather...

He barked in retribution to the shake of her head. How come she wouldn't...? He really needed to--oh! A frisbee! He should've guessed she'd put her own spin on the game. He all but smiled, tongue hanging out as he bounced around, waiting for her to throw the toy. The minute it left her hand, he was off.
Jadon liked the feeling of running after a goal, an object that he needed to obtain. He missed the frisbee but went about tumbling over it, biting its edges as he did a few summer-saults under and over it, fighting it, as if it had caused him all of his confusion.
Damn... This wasn't working. Jadon sighed, lying down and putting his head down, his big puppy eyes blinking up at Kinah, though she was far away.

She watched him stop and shook her head. Silly Jadon. She rose to her feet and half-walked, half-hovered to him. Settling on the ground next to him, she dropped a gentle hand to his head, petting softly. She giggled then and shook her head.
"You mind being Jadon again? I feel kinda weird with canine-you."

Jadon didn't pick his head up as he stuck his tongue out at her. He liked being a dog. It was helpful in masking his feelings and thoughts. That, and he could look sad without having to be questioned. His eyes drifted up to her face, and he licked his chaps, a sign that he was trying to hold back his human tears.
But, so she wasn't feeling awkward, he shifted back, lying on his stomach with his chin resting on his hands. "Sorry."

"Thanks, sweetie," she said, grinning to him. There was something wrong with him. But he didn't seem to want to talk about it yet. She could deal with that.
Kicking up, she vaulted into a handstand. Taking a few steps, she considered him. "You wanna go back Down sometime soon? I just..." she sighed, "can't be bothered with dealing with Heaven right now, you know?"

This whole thing with Lucifer didn't make him want to go down to Earth, but he didn't want to linger in the place he knew his mother was; the place he couldn't see her, or even sense her. Picking up his head, Jadon nodded, coming to his feet and looking down over the edge of the cloud. He hated falling...
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Ready?"
Stupid falling. He wished he had wings.

"Oh, now?" she asked, a little surprised. But happily so. "Okay, sure." She dropped to her feet and brushed herself off a little. She moved to the edge with him, looking down and then to him and back.
"Hang on," she said, grabbing his hand. "I'll take you if you don't want to just drop." She weaved her arm through his and looked to him to ensure he was ready.

"I got this, I got this," Jadon mumbled with a wry smirk in his expression, shaking his head, though not objecting to holding her hand. It gave him a sense of security--like a fraction of the kind Omni would give him. They were both homey--warm, giving, overall comforting.
He didn't want to step over, but his feet spoke for him, and he felt himself gliding down, using the power of both Kinah's wings and his own ability to fly to gently descend.
((Sorry, S&S.))

Her feet dropped to the ground carefully and she immediately felt lighter. A light grin found her face. "Where to, hun?" she asked, immediately taking off down sidewalk. She kind of wanted to stay outside, maybe. Central Park? Or one of the other ones, maybe.

He circled around her with his superspeed, getting bored with the world again. "I dunno," he replied, his voice sounding like it was completely engulfing her in a sealed bubble. He smiled, watching the expression on her face. He stopped directly in front of her, taking her nose in two fingers. "Honk!"
So bored. Life after death was tedious if there wasn't something going on. But, fuck, there was total damnation going on.
Jadon looked at his feet. "So what do you make of all of this Lucifer crap?"

She pushed his hand away but wasn't able to hide her laugh. "You're such a loser," she told him lightly. Falling into step with him, she winced at the subject change.
"Jeez, I don't know." Her stomach squelched just thinking about it. "I'm really worried. Either way, it's gonna be bad, you know? Like, either we win and everything is always good or They win and everything is always bad." She sighed, unhappy and nervous. "We need the balance of both of us. We're both necessary..."

Jadon stuck his tongue out again, folding his arms. Loser. Yeah, he was. He flew up onto her back, in a makeshift piggyback ride. He wouldn't put his weight on her yet. "Yeah?" he said pensively, softly, doing some thinking of his own. Wouldn't it be better if everything was always good? Or was the balance what kept people sane? He frowned.
"What about the humans?" he choked, almost in a whisper. "Some of them are chosen, Omni says. Who?" He liked having this connection with Kinah--she had the inside scoop with Omni, but she was...well, a big sister.

Shekinah giggled but noticed the glances they were getting from passers-by. "Get off, you big lug," she said, shoving him gently.
"Yeah," she agreed, turning somber. "Like Dean Winchester? He's..." She sighed, having to stop a moment. The thought of Dean brought her to Harmony and Logan and Regan and Emma and Oliver and Colette and Cian... And it hurt. She pushed all that away with a soft shake of her head. "Crazy stuff is going down already," she said. "Can only think how much more is to come..."
