It'd been awhile since he'd been to a zoo. It'd been a bit longer since he had picked up his camera and began to enjoy taking pictures again. He had someone to thank for bringing him back from the brink of insanity. He smiled, snapping a picture of Josslyn as they looked at the penguins " I hear they mate for life." He told her, wrapping an arm around her from behind, his chin resting on her shoulder as he smiled. He kissed her cheek softly and then aimed the camera at them. " Say cheese." He laughed, snapping a picture. He was happy, extremely so, since meeting Josslyn that day. He smiled at the memory of two strangers hugging in the rain. Ah, she had his heart from the beginning, whether she'd admit it or not. He was falling head over heels for this woman. She was his new love, and he hoped, his last. " So what's next on our agenda?" He asked, turning around and leaning on the railing as he looked at her. " Chimps? Tigers? Ye name it."

Josslyn watched the penguins waddle around and couldn't help but chuckle. They were so adorable. Say cheese. And so was Cain. She hammed up for the camera, giving a over-large smile. She broke into laughter after the flash though, leaning into him. Things between them had been so, so great. They were getting comfortable with each other, sharing more and more of their lives... She was happy. Truly and purely happy. Standing across from Cain in the middle of the Bronx Zoo, she was happy. This was a good man, a good man for her. She smiled at that. "Hmmm," she drawled thinking it over. Then a grin broke her face and her eyes lit up. "The otters!" she declared. "Please, the otters." Josslyn loved otters. Something about their playful mischeivousness and their cute little paws.... She took his hand without hesitation, fitting their fingers together and tugged him along a little.

"The otters!" she declared. "Please, the otters."
He smiled. "How could I ever say no to ya?" His smile grew into a wide grin as she grabbed his hand. He trailed beside her, taking a few snaps of the other animals as they passed their way along to the otters. "Have I told you how much I love taking pictures of you?" He chuckled, snapping a few off of her.
He would be sure to make a photo album of this day for them later to have. As they neared the otters, he stopped, taking a few more shots before placing the camera around his neck and moving closer to get a better view of them. They were cute, laying on their backs in the water. He leaned his head against hers, a smile on his face.
It was turning into a beautiful day.
But he knew if he wanted to keep moving in this relationship with her. She deserved to know the truth about him. Like the fact I'm technically dead. He thought, a hand on the rail as his other squeezed hers. "Look." He laughed, watching one of them dive under and then pop up with a mischievous look on his face. The otter then swam to another, and knocked his balance off, sending him rolling in the water.

"How could I ever say no to ya?"
"You can't," Josslyn replied matter-of-factly. "It's one of the many reasons I keep you around." She grinned then and dropped a soft kiss to his lips.
"Have I told you how much I love taking pictures of you?"
Josslyn pulled a funny face for the last picture, crossing her eyes and sticking out her tongue. It ended in a bout of laughter, though. Shaking her head, she asked, "Still like taking pictures of me?"
She laughed happily at the otters' antics. "They're so cute," she commented, leanign her elbows on the railing. She returned his hand squeeze and glanced back to meet his eyes. She caught something odd on his expression, maybe it was her empathy kicking in a little, and cocked her head. "Something up?" she asked lightly, casually. She might be misinterpretting things, but just in case she wasn't...

"You can't," Josslyn replied matter-of-factly. "It's one of the many reasons I keep you around."
His smile grew, and he shook his head. "Oh haha." He retorted before her lips met his in a soft kiss. "Yeah, ye better kiss me." He joked with a smirk.
"Still like taking pictures of me?" He grinned, leaning in and catching her lips in another soft kiss. "Yes, and nothing could change that." He said softly, brushing her hair behind her ear gently. His body was facing her as he leaned his side against the railing.
He was pretty caught up in watching the otters and taking pictures of them, that his own mind was wandering off on how to confront her about it. "Something up?" He turned to her, perking a brow. "Hm?" He murmured. "Oh.." He smiled. Don't lie..
"Are ye hungry? I'm kinda hungry." He asked, smiling. Maybe it'll be easier if we're sitting down somewhere quiet. Somewhere no one can really hear us. Then I'll tell her.

She watched him a moment, head still tilted in concentration. Yeah, there was something up. But it could be the "nothing" sort of something that wouldn't really matter much or the "something" sort of something that could be important...
She set her conjecture aside and just waited for him to answer her.
"Are ye hungry? I'm kinda hungry."
She chuckled softly, face showing slight confusion. She didn't think he was being evasive. Maybe he just wanted to be a more controlled environment, something quieter and more intimate.
She passed him a little knowing smile and nodded. "Sure, I could eat." But first... She stepped forward, closing the distance between them. Sliding her arms over his shoulders, she pressed an easy kiss to his lips, letting it linger a moment longer than usual.
It was silly, really; how much she loved kissing him. Her entire body thrummed with something like excitement and there was always the thought at the back of her head that she wanted to stay there, in his arms and kissing him, for a very, very long time. Which was silly, really, because they hadn't been going out that long yet. But it didn't exactly feel silly to her; it just felt right.

He smiled, knowing she knew what he was up to. She suddenly closed the space between them, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and kissing him. He had to admit, he loved kissing her. It was his new favorite thing to do. His heart would always go a bit faster when kissing her, along with most his other senses. He simply just loved the feel of her lips against his.
Once it had ended, he took her hand, leading her to a hot dog stand. "Two please." He asked, as the man placed the undressed dogs on the buns and handed them over. "I know you know." He told her with a smile as he grabbed the ketchup and mustard. "Got any cheese?" He asked the man, handing him the money.
The man took the money, tossing him a slice of cheese. "Thanks." He smiled, slipping it on his hotdog. "I need to tell ye somethin'." He confessed.

After the kiss (the wonderful, fantastic, much-too-short kiss), she followed him, making sure to keep their fingers linked together. "I know you know." Josslyn took her hotdog from him, smiling ambiguously. She knew a little but certainly not enough. She could wait for him to tell him on her own, though.
Squirting a small amount of ketchup on her dog, she bit into and linked her free arm through one of Cain's. "I need to tell you something." She felt a spiral of panic start in her stomach but trained her face to betray no emotion. Instead, she only nodded and gestured toward a nearby bench. "Let's sit first," she suggested.
There was no basis for it, but Josslyn just had a feeling that she would want to be sitting down when he told her whatever it was he was going to tell her.

"Let's sit first,"
He gave a nod, taking a bite of his hotdog. Suddenly he wasn't so hungry, he sat there, starring at it a moment before taking another bite. How was he suppose to tell her this? Better yet, where was he to begin? Different analogizes went through his mind as he finished off his dog.
He brushed his hands together, getting rid of the crumbs and sat back against the bench. His arm wrapped around the back of it, resting on the other side of Josslyn. "I don' know where to start." He said softly. He knew she'd reply 'the beginning' and it made him smile softly. "Lemme rephrase that." He laughed tenderly. "I don' know how to start." He smiled softly at her.
Taking a breath, he blew it out. "I was with Amarie.. loved her with all me heart. Even got her pregnant." Most of this she had known already, something he didn't want to hide from her at all. "But somethin' happened.." He started.
"We were at the park, and Molleigh was just a wee thing." He smiled at the memory of how small she once was. "Everythin' was goin' good. Relaxed and calm. Beautiful day, was takin' pictures like usual. I didn't see them comin'.."

Josslyn immediately leaned against him, finishing off her own hotdog. She rested her head against his shoulder, hand playing with the hem of his jacket. "I don' know where to start."She had her mouth halfway open to answer, "The beginning" but was interrupted by him adding, "Lemme rephrase that.I don' know how to start." She returned his smile and waited for him to continue.
The first thing she noticed was that she wasn't jealous to hear of Amarie or Molleigh or Cain's love for the two of them. She had no need to be. Amarie was in the past. She was in the present. She never had any cause to doubt Cain in any way, which was a relief.
But then the story took a different turn, one she couldn't really follow. She couldn't hope to guess what this "something" he had to tell her was. She enjoye the story instead, picturing a little Molleigh, happy, with her mother and father. Cain would be snapping away, taking as many pictures as possible. It brought a smile to her face.
Until "I didn't see them comin'." Her stomach turned and she felt the sense of ominousness. This story was about to take a turn for the worse.
"Didn't see who?" she prompted softly, fingers moving from his jacket to rest on his thigh.

"Didn't see who?"
His brows knitted as a flash of that day, the screams running through his mind for a split second. "I don't know who they are." Still didn't, but that was okay. He had accepted his death after Amarie had left him. He had done what he had done for her and Molleigh, and was thrown out like an old ragged toy. But that was okay.. things happened for reasons, and that reason was to allow Josslyn into his life.
His arm fell around her shoulder, pulling her close. "They attacked." He said softly. "I wouldn't let them hurt Molleigh or Amarie, instead, I offered myself for whatever they needed to prove." He told her. More flashes of that day went past him, like the moment he had fell to his knees, just prior to taking his last breath.
"It seemed to last forever.." He sighed. "Pain like you can't imagine." His voice was llight, soft and gentle, yet, held a bit of something else. "I remember telling Amarie to run.. and then suddenly I was on my knees..." He slowly looked at her.
"I died on May, 4th."

She settled against him and kept listening, knowing the big reveal, the point of this story, was growing nearer. "They attacked. I wouldn't let them hurt Molleigh or Amarie, instead, I offered myself for whatever they needed to prove." That was just like Cain. All gallantry and nobility. Risking himself to save his daughter and love. She cringed a little at the thought of it, though, of Cain being put so close to death...
But he was there. He had lived. He was right there, beneath her hands. He was fine.
"It seemed to last forever...Pain like you can't imagine." Josslyn cringed again and huddled closer to him. Her hand tightened on his leg involuntarily. She didn't like when the people she loved suffered. Even if it was in the past, it still upset her. But she knew there was more to this story. So she put on a brave face and bucked up to hear the rest.
"I died on May, 4th."
The world went vacuum and Josslyn went blank. Her head dropped to the side a little and her mouth parted. Finallyshe was able to process his words and form her own. "Now... When you say...'died,' you mean...?"
Because he couldn't mean "died" like "death," like the permanent "dead," because... Well, he was still alive. If he had died, then he would be dead. Right?

"Now... When you say...'died,' you mean...?"
He couldn't help but smile softly at her reply. "I died. I'm technically, dead." He told her. "There's more.." He said softly, pulling her back against him again. His fingers ran through her hair as he kissed her head. "I went to heaven."
He knew how this might sound. Might seem like he was some cook, someone who should be locked away, and then someone should throw away the key. But it was the truth, finally. "I know how it sounds, Josslyn..." He starred into her eyes. "But it's true."
"I died, I went to heaven, I left." He smiled softly. "Okay.. so.. I didn't go to heaven right away.. but that's another story for another time." He told her. "I left heaven for Amarie... I left for Molleigh.. and as you know..." He sighed, looking away a moment, his brows furrowing.
"She had other plans already. Had moved on quickly, I guess.. hurt worse then death.." He sighed loudly. "That's when I met you... and the rest.. as they say, is history."

"I died. I'm technically, dead. There's more.."
He was dead. Her boyfriend was dead. And not even, like, pretend dead or clinically dead and then resuscitated. Just dead. D-E-A-D; dead. Josslyn blew out a slow breath and blinked carefully. Cain, who she had been going out with for quite some time now, was dead. Christ. Any way she said it she couldn't quite make it work in her mind....
And not only was he dead, but there was more.
"I went to heaven."
She pulled away from him then, eyes wide and unblinking. Really? Heaven? Really? She recalled a conversation on their first date and the logistics of Heaven and God and everything. She stifled a dry laugh. Well, apparently he had had an advantage in that conversation...
"I know how it sounds, Josslyn..." He starred into her eyes. "But it's true."
She let him finish his story without interruption. And by the end she was shocked to find that she actually believed him. She believe that he had died and went to Heaven and came back. Because she could read people's emotions and walk through walls and go invisible. So why couldn't there be a Heaven? And why couldn't people die and then come back?
When he got to the heart-breaking end, she licked her lips nervously. Hearing about that part with Amarie, what she had done to Cain, always made her uncomfortable. Always. How could someone who supposedly loved a wonderful man like Cain just toss it all away in such a short time?
She shook those thoughts off quickly; not the time. Facing Cain full on, she took in a breath and let it out before beginning. "I believe you. Somehow; I believe you. And I..." How do you say "sorry you died and came back and your girlfriend/mother of your child had ditched you?" In the end, she settled for just jumping him into a close, intimate hug. She pressed her lips behind his ear, dropping a soft, tender kiss there.
Christ. And she thought she had a complicated history.
"Well. I am glad that all that happened...if it means you met me along the way."

"I believe you. Somehow; I believe you. And I..."
Suddenly she jumped him, hugging him close. "Oh." He smiled, wrapping his arms around her. He wasn't sure what to say, so he stayed silent. He closed his eyes, the hug reminding him of their very first one in the rain. How it felt, and how much it meant to him. Even now.
"Well. I am glad that all that happened...if it means you met me along the way."
He smiled, moving to look her in the eyes. "Me too." He moved her hair out of her face, kissing her forehead gently. "Me too." He whispered again, leaning in and kissing her tenderly on the lips. Omni was dead wrong, Earth held more for him then Heaven ever could.

Josslyn took a moment to fall into the kiss. When she finally pulled away, she rested her forehead against his. Keeping her eyes closed, she just breathed for a minute. She could feel his chest moving under hers, breathing. Air moving in and out, inhale after exhale. But he wasn't alive.
It would just take some adjusting.
And she did have some questions. She believed him, sure, but she still had questions. Sitting next to him again, she took his hand in her lap. She played idly with his fingers, as she collected her thoughts. "This is gona sound silly, but...are you...a ghost?"
Of course he wasn't a ghost. Ghosts were noncorporeal. You could walk through them...even without her phasing. Cain was solid and real and...human. But if he wasn't a ghost, then what was he?

"This is gonna sound silly, but...are you...a ghost?"
He smirked, a soft and short laugh escaping him as he shook his head, his forehead still against hers. "No." He replied, chucking lightly. "Technically the term is angel." He shrugged. "Or.. fallen, angel." He corrected himself. "As Dom said."
That reminded him. "There's... one more thing. With good, comes... evil. If you believe in me... angels... then demons are right behind that belief." He told her softly, his brows furrowed.
It was scary, he had to admit. He was still trying to get use to it himself. Working at S&S meant daily interactions with a lot of demons. Some were not so friendly, while others... were a little too friendly. "But.. " But what? What could he possibly say? 'But, don't worry'? Psh.. With demons... it'd be best to be fully guarded.

"Technically the term is angel."
She couldn't help laughing at that. She was dating an angel. Literally. Her boyfriend was an angel. No other boyfriend would ever be able to live up to this. "Or.. fallen, angel." He corrected himself. "As Dom said." "Dom?" she repeated, questioning. Who was Dom? Some kind of angelic guide?
"There's... one more thing. With good, comes... evil. If you believe in me... angels... then demons are right behind that belief."
Demons. Well, why not? If there were angels... Demons. Well shit. "Okay," was all she could think to say. Because what else could you say at this point? She wasn't quite done processing that he was a bona fide angel yet. She could get to the demons later.
She ignored his "but..." The wasy his face fell immediately after told her that he didn't have a "but;" he was just trying to make her feel better about the situation.
Curling into his side, she held him close. That certainly wasn't what she had been expecting when she woke up this morning. Cain was dead; he was an angel. She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Okay. She could handle this. This would be okay.
"Okay," she said aloud, as if to solidify her decision. She sighed softly. "You know, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that that was what you were going to tell me," she admited, sparing a soft smile his way.

"Dom?"
He scratched at his upper lip a moment. "Dominick. He owns the S&S lounge downtown. He's also a fallen, tends to help guide others like myself who have no clue what to do." He smiled, letting out a airy laugh. "Okay," Okay. Okay? How was believing in demons okay? If anything it was far from okay. "Okay." He replied with a smile.
"Okay," she said aloud, as if to solidify her decision. She sighed softly. "You know, never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that that was what you were going to tell me,"
He chuckled, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her head. "I want to say okay back but I think it's been said enough in one conversation." He joked softly with a smile. "I wanted to tell you sooner, wasn't sure how, and how you'd take it." He told her.
"So I guess it's okay that your dating a dead man?" He smirked, looking down at her. "Oh, I'm sorry, angel." He grinned, catching her lips with his.

"I wanted to tell you sooner, wasn't sure how, and how you'd take it."
She grinned up at him. "S'all right. I mean, I understand; that's kind of a hard thing to tell someone. And it's not...bad news, exactly, right? So..." She trailed off. Well. Him being an angel wasn't bad news. The whole equal balance thing with the demons kind of sucked...
But that didn't have an immediate affect on her. So she didn't care about it at the moment.
"So I guess it's okay that your dating a dead man? Oh, I'm sorry, angel."
Josslyn chuckled but it was cut off by his kiss. She let it last a moment before finally pulling away. "Y'know, I could say something corny right now. Like, 'You've always been an angel to me, baby.'" She laughed more at that before shrugging. "I guess it doesn't really make a difference to me. I didn't know you were dead-slash-an angel before so it shouldn't make a difference now, right?" She cuddled close to him to assure him of her sincerity.
