"Killed? And she just... Got a new boyfriend right away? So she just... Hooked up with her best friend's ex? Bet her friend wasn't very happy."
Ainslie bit her knuckle, uncomfortable. "I... I'm just not sure it's my place to say? I think --and please excuse me for offering my advice when I barely know you, but I think you should sit down with Amarie. Just the two of you; no Saikoro, no kids. That way you can talk it out with her, you know? Get her side of everything, which you really need if you want to properly understand the situation, huh?"
"Yeah, and it's really frustrating because I know he's stronger than me. Wish I could get a good chance to beat him up," Sarge admitted. "Im not usually violent, but something about him..."
Ainslie gave him a lop-sided grin, understanding the feeling. "Right. But if you want any kind of real relationship with your sister, that probably isn't a good idea, huh?"
"Couldn't've been THAT bad." She raised her eyebrows at that. "Oh, but it was. It was that bad and worse," she teased, laughter tinting her voice.
"At least yours help you in everyday life." She shrugged before nodding her at least partial agreement. That was true; mostly. "Im glad I have powers, though. Othrwise I wouldn't be talking to such a pretty lady." Ainslie immediately felt her cheeks burn. "Oh, listen to you. Aren't you just so smooth?" She hoped he wouldn't realize her nervousness. But then, suddenly, she changed her mind. She decided to return this less subtle flirtation. "Well then, I'm glad you got your powers too. 'Cause now I can be standing here, talking to someone as gorgeous as you," she shot back, smiling cockily.

"Good idea," he said with a smile. "Though I doubt Sai'll let me anywhere near her. And as if she'll really want to talk to me..." he sighed, sort of depressing himself. "But who knows, might as well give it a go," he said with a shrug. Couldn't Hirt to be optimistic, right? "Thanks," he said. Why hadn't he though of that before?
"She doesn't have to know it was me," he grinned. "But yeah, I know. But sometimes I just feel like the guy deserves a good punch or two." he smiled sheepishly. "Though I know he'd have me down after two seconds."
"I go for constructive criticism only, Missy!" he growled playfully with his not-so-great-of-an-accent. "Care to show me how you could do better?" He challeneged with a large grin.
"Glad you noticed," he said smoothly, running a hand through his hair with pretend-coolness. "And the name is Bond. James Bond. Of course, I am also known for my smoothness." he smiled jokingly at her, breaking up his little facade. He tossed his eyebrows at her words. "Ooh, mocking me, are we? But don't worry. I know I'm gorgeous." He chuckled. He had never acted like this before for a girl. Bit maybe he just kind of liked this particular girl. Maybe that was why it was so easy to joke and flirt with her?

She nodded, agreeing that it was worth a shot at least. Waving off his thanks, she smiled. "I just... Well, I dunno what I'd do with out my brothers and sisters; they're really important to me. So if I was in your situation, I'd give anything to get them back." She kept a light-hearted smile on, showing that she didn't mean to lecture him or anything like that.
"She doesn't have to know it was me." Ainslie laughed at his reasoning, nodding. "True, I suppose." "Though I know he'd have me down after two seconds." She smiled consolingly to him, patting his arm. "And then he'd run off and tell Amarie that you tried to beat him up, which would bring you back to the first problem."
"I go for constructive criticism only, Missy! Care to show me how you could do better?" She smiled back, accepting the challenge but had to catch her breath first. Because something about a man who looked like him growling at her... Made her head go a little fuzzy and her heart speed up a bit...in a totally good way. "Well, sweetharrt," she drawling, laying the Brooklyn thick into her voice. "It s'not abou' the accent so much as it is abou' th' ahh-ttitude. Ya gotta think layhke a New-Yahker, know what I mean?" When Ainslie had first come to New York, she had a cabbie with that exact accent. It had stuck with her ever since.
"Glad you noticed," he said smoothly, running a hand through his hair with pretend-coolness. "And the name is Bond. James Bond. Of course, I am also known for my smoothness." She burst out laughing at that, not able to catch her breath a moment. Her eldest brother, Lewis, used to introduce himself the same way: 'The name is Darling. Lew Darling.' He claimed all the girls loved it and fell over themselves at it but Ainslie could never help but to crack up at it. "Sorry," she gasped out. "Just... You reminded me of..." She waved a hand, dismissing it as she regained control of herself.
"Ooh, mocking me, are we? But don't worry. I know I'm gorgeous."
"Who's mocking?" she asked, one hand on her hip and one eyebrow raised. Lop-sided grin finding her face again, she added, "I was one-hundred percent sincere. Oh no, don't tell me you were joking about me being pretty?" She let out a chuckle and shook her head lightly.

"Well I still don't think she truly believes we're siblings. I mean, she's been an only child for her whole life, and then I come along telling her I'm her brother? Anyway, I don't have any proof," he said somewhat sadly. E would give probably anything just to be sure that Amarie acknowledged their relation and actually treated him like an older brother.
"Well, I guess. But if he's determined to hate me, I won't getmuch better from her, right? I mean, they're married, they influence each others' opinions." he frowned. If Sai succeeded in keeping Amarie away from him, he would seriously kill the man. Who stood between family like that?
"Ooh, you're good," he said with a grin, raising his hands up in an almost defensive way. "You got me. I'm a failure of a New-Yorker. Go ahead. Call the cops." He grinned. Her accent was pretty good though. Much better than his had been. And he had lived in New York his whole life. It figures, doesn't it?
He laughed at her laugh. He didn't quite know what was so funny about his comment, but really, just hearing her laugh was enough tk make him laugh, too. He subsided into just chuckles as she managed to say that be reminded her of someone. "Well, great people talk alike, yeah?" he asked with a grin. "Or something like that."
"Oh no, ma'am," he said seriously. "I do not jest on matters of importance, such as that of beauty." He stared solemnly at her for as long as he could without bursting out laughing. But eventually he couldn't keep it up, and he laughed loudly, subsiding into unconteollable chuckles soon enough.

"Well I still don't think she truly believes we're siblings. I mean, she's been an only child for her whole life, and then I come along telling her I'm her brother? Anyway, I don't have any proof."
Ainslie was trying very hard to remind herself to not get involved in other peoples' life. To not budge in. To not interfere.... But he looked kind of hurt and this was obviously distressing him... "Look, I don't know if this is something you'd want to.... I know people. If...it was something you wanted, I could maybe arrange a DNA test? Just so you could have, like, hard evidence of your relation?"
There. That wasn't intrusive, was it? Just a friendly offer? And William at Lennox Hill still owed her a favor from when she got his name on the invitation list for the most recent swanky Benefit Ball. Whether Sargon took her up on it was entirely up to him.
"Ooh, you're good." She bowed shortly, laughing a little. "Thank you, thank you. No autographs or flash-photography, please." She grinned to him, straightening up. "You got me. I'm a failure of a New-Yorker. Go ahead. Call the cops." Softening her smile a little, she touched his arm again, lightly 'Stop touching him! Touching him leads to bad thoughts and bad thoughts leads to you wanting to throw him down on the ground and have your way with him right here!' she scolded herself. Axel would not be happy if she did that...
Turning her attention back to Sargon, she joked, "Well, I think I can let you off with only a warning, this time."
"Well, great people talk alike, yeah?" he asked with a grin. "Or something like that." She nodded, eyes still shining with amusement. "My brother used to use that line on girls all the time. Only he'd put in his name, like," Ainslie pulled a suave expression to her face, "The name is Darling. Ains, Darling." She giggled a little at the thought of it again. She should give her brother a call, really...
She joined him in his laughter, but shook her head. Faking a put-out expression, she dropped both her hands to her hips and pursed her lips. "You know, when you tell a girl she's beatiful and then burst into uncontrollable laughter immediately after, it's kind of a huge blow to her confidence. Just for future reference, you know." Underneath it all though, a smile teased her lips and her eyes showed sparkles of held-in laughter.

"Oh, thank you, but I dunno if that's the way to go about it. I don't wanna seem desperate, and I bet she and Sai will just ignore it." He looked down at the ground. Why did this have to be hard? He had imagined it mug easier. He would walk up to her, hug her, and they would be just like before--no husband or kids in the picture. But it wasn't like that.
"Fine with me. I got a better memory than any of those could make," he said with a grin. He really was starting to like her. "I guess I owe you then," he said with a chuckle. "I wonder how long I'd've been in jail I'd you hadn't let me off easy?" he asked with a chuckle. "Because of course, being a failure in New York is the worst crime."
"Maybe your brother and I are twins separated at birth," he said, raising his eyebrows. "Cuz yknow, that stuff happens in movies where people come back to life after dying and New Yorkers ways have accents like that." He smiled. She was so fun to talk to, and he was actually kinda glad he had run into her.
"Yeah, well, since I can't think up a good comeback for that..." he grinned, and on a random impulse leaned forward and kissed her lightly on te lips. "Does that make up for my unconteollable laughter?" His words were soft and he grinned at her, sort of nervous as to how she would react. .

"Oh, thank you, but I dunno if that's the way to go about it. I don't wanna seem desperate, and I bet she and Sai will just ignore it." Ainslie nodded, understanding that. "Right." She screwed her face up, thinking it over. Normally she was good at thinking up solutions but for this she was stuck. "I don't know, Sargon," she hummed dejectedly. "All I can say is that... I really think talking it out with Amarie, alone, is what I would do." Beyond that, she wasn't sure. In the end, he could just have to except that Amarie might not want him in her life...
Which would really be too bad, because he seemed to be a great guy.
"I wonder how long I'd've been in jail I'd you hadn't let me off easy?" he asked with a chuckle. "Because of course, being a failure in New York is the worst crime." Ainslie chuckled softly, nodding her agreement. "Of course. I think the only worse crime in pronouncing 'Greenwich Village' as 'Green-witch'," she teased, citing the popular joke among New-Yorkers.
"Maybe your brother and I are twins separated at birth," he said, raising his eyebrows. "Cuz y'know, that stuff happens in movies where people come back to life after dying and New Yorkers ways have accents like that." Ainslie let out comfortable laughter again. She really liked that he could make her laugh so easily. And that she was comfortable enough to just let herself laugh around him. She was happy she had met him by chance.
"Yeah, well, since I can't think up a good comeback for that..." She cocked a brow, waiting for him give this amazing comeback. As it ended up, she got quite the surprise. She let him kiss her gently, briefly, softly. Shockwaves ran through her veins for a moment before he pulled away. "Does that make up for my uncontrollable laughter?" Opening her eyes, she saw his slight grin with nervousness behind it.
Swallowing her own nerves, she passed him a smile of her own. "Not quite," she replied, smile growing into a teasing grin. "I think I'm gonna need a little more before I can forgive you..." Okay, that was a line, but she just hoped he didn't turn her down on it....

He had missed Amarie for too long. The only memories he had of her were like faded, ripped photographs. They weren't good ones, either, bit he cherished them. Memories of him and her playing on the swingset at the park, giggling in huge mud piles, splashing in puddles. The memories were the sort of things that could fill a baby book. He was determined to fill up more books, even with some artificial pictures of the parts of her life he had missed."I'll try," he said with a shrug. But if she didn't want him...
"Oh yes, I would never dream of committing that particular crime." He grinned. Joking with her was so easy, made him feel so good. She was just the kind of person that he could laugh with freely. Because they seemed to share almost the same sense of humor, the same sort of trait that indicated the fact that, though they were mature, they were playing 'Peter Pan'. Because if Sarge could, he would choose to never grow up.
Damn, he had done something wrong. She was gonna be like those princessy child in the movies. One guy kisses them, and they slap his face, kick his balls and prance haughtily away. He wasn't so sure about the kicking or the haughtiness from Ainslie, but hw figured that she was the type who might slap him occasionally. Not that he minded--he was tough.
Or... Maybe he had done something right? Grinning, emboldened and slightly more confident because of her reaction, he grinned and said in a pretend-arrogant voice. "Whatever it takes, m'lady." But he chuckled at the end, quite ruinig the effect as he leaned in slightly to place another soft kiss on her lips. He didn't want it to end, bit he pulled away after a few perfect, long seconds and said. "Satisfied?". He raised a brow, grinning at her. Maybe she would ask for more...?

."I'll try."
"Yeah," Ainslie said, nodding. "Nothing more that you can do, huh?" All you could do in life was try. Try and hope that it was good enough.
"Oh yes, I would never dream of committing that particular crime." Ainslie laughed easily once more (damn, she could get used to that) and nodded. "Good, good. Because that would be a truly unforgiveable crime." God, this was so nice. She couldn't remember the last time she just kicked back and relaxed. Talked to someone just for the fun of it and enjoyed herself... She seriously needed to get more free time...
"Whatever it takes, m'lady." She nearly broke into a victory dance right then and there. But then he was kissing her again and she couldn't care less about dancing. She sunk into the kiss, hands hesitating just over the planes of his face, not quite touching him. And then it was over and she wanted more but she knew that was probably it. For now.
"Satisfied?"
"Yes," she answered, smiling against the blush on her cheeks. "I'm very satisfied." She raised an eyebrow suggestively though and added, "For the time being, at least." Your move, she thought. He could take it or leave it...
She really hoped he would take it.

"Other than hope. And if she doesn't believe me, I'll just cling to her legs and beg her to believe me. Because I know it'll help so much." He grinned, trying to imagine Am's expression if he did that. Sai'd probably stomp him into the ground, though. He probably didn't like Sarge anywere near his wife. Not that he really blamed him, as Sarge had not really been very good with the kids when he showed up at their door that time.
"Oh yes. Because if I have tk get a life sentence and/or death row, I want and need it to be because of a mispronunciation." He grinned. He knew what he'd rather be thrown in jail for--because eating the hell out of Sai was a very, very tempting idea. Bur if he wanted Am to accept them, e couldn't just murder her husband. That would most likely not be received well.
"Well then, I guess I'd better hang around until you feel unsatisfied once again, eh?" he questioned with a playful look on his face. Yes, he was serious, although his expression might not indicate that way. He intended to be around when she needed another kiss. Because those first two kisses had been magical. And he did want more.

"Other than hope. And if she doesn't believe me, I'll just cling to her legs and beg her to believe me. Because I know it'll help so much." Ainslie chuckled, amused, and shook her head. "Yeah. Somehow I don't see that going over so well." It was a funny image, though. "Honestly, though; Amarie's a good girl, when you get down to it. She should at least give you the benefit of the doubt; hear what you have to say. Especially if you get her away from Sai."
"Oh yes. Because if I have tk get a life sentence and/or death row, I want and need it to be because of a mispronunciation."
"It would be kind of lame, huh?" She chuckled a little, eyes sparkling,. "Imagine the conversation," she prompted. "Your cell-mate come up to you like, 'I killed three men, what're you in here for?' Ad you just have to be like, 'Uh, I pronounced Greenwich Village incorrectly.'" She fell into laughter then. "You'd get your ass kicked so fast."
"Well then, I guess I'd better hang around until you feel unsatisfied once again, eh?" Ainslie blushed and bit her lower lip. Dropping her eyes to the ground, she felt something like a shiver run up her chest. Chuckling airily, she was finally able to meet his eyes. "I...think I'd like that," she admitted. She would. She was surprised to learn that she really wanted him around, wanted him to stay around near here.

"Yeah. I just hope she doesn't reject me. Cuz I've been looking for her all these years, and to finally find her was awesome. And if she chooses not the have me in her life, I dunno what I'll do." And he didn't know what he'd do. Maybe he'd move somewhere else. Maybe he wouldn't give up.
"I'd probably be the most miserable criminal there. But for the most badass crime." He grinned. He could just see that. He grinned. "You know the other guys would bask in the golden glow of my audacity and courage. Takes a real man to pronouce something wrong." He grinned, chuckling. She was so easy to laugh with. He lives that.

He laughed, hoping she wouldn't agree to that. He knew it wouldn't matter though. He was gonna follow her around till she called yhe cops on him.

"Yeah. I just hope she doesn't reject me. Cuz I've been looking for her all these years, and to finally find her was awesome. And if she chooses not the have me in her life, I dunno what I'll do." Ainslie nodded solemnly, understanding. "From what I know about her. I don't think she'll out-right reject you. She'll probably at least give you an opportunity to plead your case." She smiled up to him there. "And if you tell her everything that you've told me about why you want her in her life, I can't see her rejecting you at all."
"You know the other guys would bask in the golden glow of my audacity and courage. Takes a real man to pronouce something wrong." She had made him laugh. That alone brought a grin to her face. She wanted to make him laugh more, liking the feeling it brought her. "Oh yeah. You gotta be fearless to mispronounce a word. All the others will cower at your might and power." A smile played at her lips as she smiled up at him.
"And by that, of course you are trying to tell me nicely to get my ugly criminal mug outta here." Ainslie chuckled, still blushing. "You got me there," she joked. Chewing on her lower lip again, she rose onto her toes to press another kiss to his lips. A hand reached up tentatively to lay against his cheek. She let her lips linger on his a minute.

"Yeah, I guess. But I know Sai isn't willing to give me a chance." He admitted. Sai had been angry. Throwing him into walls and out of windows and stuff. It was pretty embarassing. Because Sarge didn't really even get a swing at him. Anyway, if he had, it wouldve missed. And i it by chnance hit, Sarge'd be dead in two seconds. But Am was different. She better not let her husband control her when he came up to her. Saege didn't even really wanna be around Sai.
He laughed loudly at her words. "Might and power--you sure got that right. I could be the next Alexander the Great, ruling over all with my daunting skills--er, or lack thereof--of pronunciation!" He struck a heroic pose, chuckling. It was songreat to laugh with her. How could he not have met her before?!
He could tell she was joking, and he chuckled. Was he making her embarassed? She was blushing quite a bit. He turned on his empathy for a second, but it didn't give him muh more than a huge load of emotions, all in such magnificent magnitude that he couldn't even tell what they really were.
But then she kissed him again. He hummed slihtky into yhe kiss, very much content. When finally they had to reluctantly pull apart, he said, somewhat breathlessly, "How come I haven't met you before?!" He grinned at her, leaning in for just one more kiss...

"Yeah, I guess. But I know Sai isn't willing to give me a chance." She screwed up her face at that. "Yeah... Maybe keep him out of the equation," she suggested, grinning wryly. Saikoro ccould (and would) definitely... complicate things.
"Might and power--you sure got that right. [/i] She didn't know why he was laughing at that; he certainly looked mighty and powerful...and gorgeous. It was no secret, Ainslie liked her men manly. She didn't want any boys, thank you very much. And Sargon was certainly a man. "I could be the next Alexander the Great, ruling over all with my daunting skills--er, or lack thereof--of pronunciation!" She burst out laughing at that, especially at the stance he took. "You are crazy," she declared still laughing. Then, going along with the joke, she added, "The mere sound of your name would strike fear into the hearts of English teachers and dictionary enthusiastics instantly!"
"How come I haven't met you before?!" She giggled at that, shrugging. "This is the first chance I've really had to just...relax a little. Starting Belleza had been...time-consuming, to say the least." More like utterly exhausting. That's what she really needed, a nice spa-day with Colette. And maybe even Vera, too. They all could sure use a break and a chance to recharge.
Or maybe kissing a man like Sargon over and over was just what she needed. Because that was certainly helping her to relax. He leaned in to kiss her again and Ainslie felt a smile touch her lips before she felt his. She tilted her body toward his, hoping to displace her utter approval of what was happening.

"I'll try, but really, that's easier said than done. He seems to always be by her side." Every time he had seen his sister she had been with him. Every single time! Sometea with the kids, sometimes with the dog, or sometimes just them. Sarge was happy for her that she was married, but she was so young. Only twenty, with six kids and a dog?! WHY? That was crazy.
"Just figured that out, have you?" he asked, raising his eyebrows at her. Really, he was a normally fun guy, but he didn't know if crazy was really the word. But she seemed to think so, and his craziness was making her laugh which really was all that mattered. At her next words he grinned once more. "I will be feared by all, and loved by none. But the gain is greater than the loss!" He almost-shouted loudly. He had heard that quote somewhere, although he didn't know where. .
"Oh, well God forbid you do any hard work that causes you to break a nail," he joked. Most women were like that. No use when it came to physical strength. But she didnt seem the weak type. Some people you could just look at and tell. Others had hidden strength. He figured Aubdlie was like that-- like a baby tiger, cute and cuddly but with the potential to be dangerous.
She didn't seem to mind the kisses. Which was good. Because he sure as hell didn't mind either. They were nice. She had suh soft lips, a beautiful smile. He was surprised she hadnt found someone yet (because no way would she let him kiss her of she were seeing someone). He too was relaxing. It was nice. Talking, laughing, kissing. It was so easy with her. It was wonderful.

"I'll try, but really, that's easier said than done. He seems to always be by her side." Ainslie pursed her lips, nodding. Yeah, she knew that. Everytime that she had seen Amarie, Saikoro wasn't far behind. Usually trailing all those kids along too. God bless them, really, but Ainslie would not be able to do that. Not just the six kids, but the every waking second spent with her spouse. She had been independent since the age of about eleven. So, yes, she wanted someone to be there for her and with her. But not 24/7. That was just overkill.
"Just figured that out, have you?" Ainslie chuckled a little. "Well, give me some credit. I did just meet you." Oooh, she had just met him...
"I will be feared by all, and loved by none. But the gain is greater than the loss!" She chuckled easily. "Sounds very fitting for Alexander the Great. And rather poetic," she said thoughtfully. Breaking into laughter softly, fit one hand through her hair.
"Oh, well God forbid you do any hard work that causes you to break a nail." She narrowed her eyes playfully, pointing to him. "Hey mister, I do more work in a day than you do in a week," she joked. "And I bet I could kick your ass anyday." Okay, probably not. But she was only joking, really. And she had to defend her pride somehow. She was not some soft, flake girl. She didn't want him to think she was. She was a freaking Darling, for christ-sakes! She laughed softly though, to show that she wasn't really irritated by him. He had only been joking too, after all.
Begrudgingly, she pulled from the kiss. "I should do what I came here for," she said with a slight groan. "Catch up with Axel, check in with some of the teachers..." She felt bad for slacking. But only a little. Because meeting Sargon had definitely been worth it. And, hey: he was a teacher. She could check in with him....

"Oh yeah, forgot about that. it seems like I've known you longer," he mused. All of this laughing and talking and joking and kissing her had made it seem like they had known each other longer. He didn't even know how long they had known each other. But it had really seemed longer... he wished it had been longer...
"Poetic. Well, that's something new to add. Powerful, feared... and poetic. I think that kinda ruins it, yeah?" he asked, grinning at her. He had never heard of a great ruler being poetic. But it was always something new. Maybe she liked poetry... He could do poetry, especially if she liked it.
"Oh?" he asked playfully. He didn't really doubt that though. He was only a teacher, whereas she was running a whole school. And she was also wasting her time talking to him. Not that he minded. he was glad she was talking to him--he wanted to talk more, to kiss more... "Really? I have an ass of steel. You'd hurt your foot," he joked. "And I think i might be a tad bit stronger than you."
"Yeah, you should," he said somewhat breathlessly. He didn't want her to go, but he didn't wanna keep her from her job. 'Well, check in with me last so we can talk again, okay?" He grinned at her. That was probably the one thing he was serious about when talking with her.

"Oh yeah, forgot about that. it seems like I've known you longer." She smiled softly at that, glad to here it. "I feel the same." She really did. Because she never kissed a guy the same day she met him. Well, except for that brief period in college when she was into partying. But that was normal. She had been just twenty; that's what you were supposed to do at twenty. Regardless, she didn't mind so much with Sargon. She was glad she had kissed him so soon. She was glad she had met him, stopped to talk to him...
"Poetic. Well, that's something new to add. Powerful, feared... and poetic. I think that kinda ruins it, yeah?" Ainslie giggled, nodding her agreement. "It would make less people fear you, I think." But hey, it showed he had a brain at least. Which wasn't important for a one-night-stand but was very important for Ainslie's relationships. And she hoped this --whatever this was-- would turn into more than just some one-night-stand.
"Really? I have an ass of steel. You'd hurt your foot." Ainslie had to force herself to keep a steady face. 'Do not think about his ass of steel. Do not think about his ass of steel,' she coached herself. Except she was totally thinking about his ass of steel. About doing things to his ass of steel, none of which included kicking...
"And I think i might be a tad bit stronger than you." Ainslie lowered her eyes a bit and looked up at him through her lashes flirtatiously. "Well, I sure hope so. You do look like a real man, after all." And Ainslie liked a real man. She loved sweat and hard-work. She was usually the dominant persona in her job so it would be nice to be taken care of a little in a relationship.
'Well, check in with me last so we can talk again, okay?" "I most definitely will," Ainslie replied, shooting him a killer smile. She popped onto her tiptoes for a second-long kiss before falling back to her usual height. "One for the road," she explained with a smirk. With that, she turned, walking off toward Axel's office.
Oh, Holy God in Heaven. She was going to have to make these visits with Axel and the others as fast as possible...

She felt the same? Well, that was always good. Meant she didn't want to just never see him again. Meant that those kisses weren't really for nothing. He felt slightly satisfied. At least he knew he had someone who was slightly interested in him--he knew he was very interested in her. He didn't know why, but maybe it was just the way she laughed.
"Yeah. I'd be the girly-man. Me with all my power, wisdom, glory... and poetry." He grinned. "I think they'd leave out my great creative skills on those big monuments they'd build." He chuckled. He was only joking--he'd never be a king, never be powerful, never have monuments built for him. At least not in the way he had meant.
"A real man? Like, what Pinocchio wanted to be?" He chuckled. "Well, as I 'Ain't Got no Strings on Me', I think it's good to say I'm a real man." He grinned at her, laughter dancing in his eyes. 'Although I'm assuming that wasn't quite what you meant," he added, grinning. he knew it hadn't been what she had met. But he liked cracking jokes, and she had set it all up for that one.
He grinned at her kiss as she walked away. 'Hot damn," he whispered, watching her go, hand running through his hair. He hoped she would come back. Really, he did. And he was gonna look for her until he found her.
--
It had been a little while since she had left, and he was pretty sure she'd be done with her stuff now. He was wandering around Rosewood, trying to find her...
There. He saw her. "Ainslie!" he called, trying to leave as much of an excited note out of his voice as possible. He didn't really want to sound like an eager little schoolboy--though of course, he was eeager to see her.
