Stood up....again. Natalie was starting to think God wanted her to be lonely. That she was put on this earth for his own personal entertainment. Give then take away. Now a days Natalie was beginning to believe what her mother used to tell her, "Love isn't real, just a figment of people's imagination." It was true. Love wasn't real...atleast not to Natalie. Yet she found herself going out every so often to meet up with a guy that never met her expectataions, but she forced herself to see the good in them. It never worked. They would get what they wanted and would not be by her side in the morning when she woke up. It was almost like she was in highschool again....but she wasn't, she was a grown woman. It was time to give up all these stupid attempts at love. Her dreams of marriage and happiness all down the drain. With that determined she found herself at the park. Of all the places in the world to mope around she chose the park. It was about 8 o' clock at night and everyone was beginning to clear out. Wiping away her tears she walked around the stone path trying to imagine a life without a man. At this moment all she wanted was some attention, and not the bad kind. She just wanted someone to talk to....someone who saw her for who she was and would accept her. Someone that would be there next to her when she woke up in the morning....

It's Normal
He hadn't been keeping track of the time, so when he noticed that his kindle was becoming strangely bright against his eyes, he picked up his head, and found that night had fallen. Taken aback, he shut off The Scarlet Letter--yes, it was for pleasure; this teacher happened to appreciate classic literature--and brought himself to his feet. The temperature hadn't begun to drop severely, so he was still comfortable in the clothes he'd gone out in earlier this afternoon. A cool breeze pushed past him with some force, and he tucked his reading utensil under his arm, starting toward the exit of the park.
Already practically empty, the park was a desolate place at night. Everything dead, waiting for the morning sun to peak life again. Rayner wasn't sure if he liked this time of night or not. He didn't like the vacancy, but then again--he liked having his thoughts to himself. He didn't like being alone, but privacy was always a perk: one that was rarely given to mutants anymore. Ever since the public turned them from freaks into celebrities...well. He was lucky to have a normal job.
It strunk him as strange--who was that, walking in the park, too? She seemed aimless, like she didn't plan on leaving with the rest of them. Lost, maybe? It was an easy city to get lost in. He prayed she wasn't going to try to sleep in the park. They were just as dangerous as the streets, even behind the boudlers and statues.
"Miss?" he interrupted her thoughts, approaching her with caution. "Are you all right?"

"Miss?" he interrupted her thoughts, approaching her with caution. "Are you all right?"
Natalie gasped and jumped softly placing a hand over her heart. "Oh my gosh. You scared me." She said almost breathlessly. "I'm fine..." She looked down at herself. "Do I look like there's something wrong with me?" She asked simply pulling at the edge of her dress checking it for any abnormalities.
Then she remembered she had been crying. Wiping away any remaining tears she smiled a somewhat cheesy grin. "I'm fine... just lonely." She admitted. Closing her eyes she shook her head softly. Why did she say that out loud? She was sure that was not the right thing to say in front of a man.
A man? She opened her eyes and stared at him. He was a very handsome man. Even in the dim lighting she could see how amazing he looked in those jeans shaking the thought she brought her attention back to their 'somewhat' conversation....One that she was going to try to keep going. After all he was company if he stuck around that is.

After giving her face a brief examination, he replied, "Well, you've been crying, obviously." Not knowing if that would strike a bad note, he continued, hoping to cover up his stupid comment. "And you're wandering around a park in the middle of the night when you look like you should be home and in bed. Are you lost?" He was willing to shell out some money to get her a cab, or even walk her home. She looked more than troubled. She looked burdened.
"I'm fine... just lonely."
Well that wasn't a statement he heard every day. Anyone who could say that to a perfect stranger was really struggling. She was obviously searching for some kind of consoling, and Rayner couldn't just leave her. She needed someone, or was liable to do something stupid.
"Okay," he started, rubbing his temple. "Anything I can do to help?" He wanted to make sure she at least got home safe...

Natalie shook her head. "No I actually know my way around pretty well..." She spoke. He really was a good looking guy, and he also seemed to be concerned about her...Even if he had just met her and all. She hadn't even told him her name yet.
"Okay," he started, rubbing his temple. "Anything I can do to help?" He wanted to make sure she at least got home safe...
Being so depressed for so many days can cause one to be well irrational. Do things they would never do....That was what she was expeircing. A look of complete hopelessness came across her face. All she could see was her loneliness playing out across his face, and yet she stepped closer.
"I can think of one thing..." She placed one hand on his cheek and leaned in and kissed him. Her feelings of sadness pouring into her kiss. When she pulled away she pressed her hand to her mouth and looked at him shocked she actually did that. "I'm....I am so sorry." She looked down at her feet embarrassed.
"I'm Natalie..." She said trying to make it less awkward. After all she just kissed a complete stranger.
