She was running a bit slow. But that was usual for her now. Never quite on time. And she thought she had it bad when Charles was alive.. She heaved a sigh, pushing the stroller as she walked down the street. Emma had called, asked for a meeting at Rosewood. She couldn't object. She was running thin, between Running Biella, Rosewood and Dolce. Yeah, Ains helped out, which was a great relief. But she'd be ecstatic when she found new professors for the schools. She hummed softly, pulling the top of the stroller back to smile down at the twins. They were growing so fast.. " You ready to see Emma again?" She asked them, hearing them both coo back at her. She walked up the walkway, wandering into the backyard and through the kitchen. " Emma? You hear?" She called out, dropping the diaper bag on the table.

Breathe. Calm down, and breathe. It's just a request. You probably won't get an answer today 'cause Colette is in way over her head. What with the schools, the kids, Charles... But that's why you're doing this, to help. So just go up there, take it like it is. You can't change anything so go with the flow. Hear me? Good. Okay. She's not here yet. Just sit and wait. Don't think--just wait.Which was exactly what she did. She'd been scrabbling--no, scrambling!--all morning, trying to think of how to phrase it, but everything had left her system by now. She'd decided to just give it up to fate and let whatever roll off her tongue. It was Colette, for God sakes, Ollie's godmother, her good friend. Then again, she might become her boss... Emma sat down not-so-gracefully on one of the chairs in the den of Rosewood, awaiting the arrival of the head professor. Having thought about the title for a long time, she'd come to the conclusion that being a mutant, and helping those like her, was more important that climbing the musical ladder. Whether it would be good for the kids and Cian or not was still a mystery, but a risk she was willing to take. "Emma?"The first call made her spring up immediately, and she went into the kitchen, smiling at the somewhat dissheveled woman. "I'm here," she replied before crouching down to the twins. "Hey, beautifuls. Enjoying the nice weather with Momma?" After receiving smiles and putting her hands on their heads briefly in greeting, she stood upright to face Colette. "Need help with anything?" she asked, noticing her bags and the way she just looked...stressed.

"I'm here," she replied before crouching down to the twins. "Hey, beautifuls. Enjoying the nice weather with Momma?" After receiving smiles and putting her hands on their heads briefly in greeting, she stood upright to face Colette. "Need help with anything?"
Colette smiled, nearly falling into the seat. She waved her off. "No, I'm good. Thanks for asking though." She said softly, leaning forward towards the table. "How about you, everything okay? Oliver and Maura, they're okay?" She asked, perking a brow slightly.
She was wondering what had caused the meeting, and hoping it was Emma accepting the role of professor at Rosewood. "So.." She laughed, waiting for a reply. "You okay?" She asked. "You look a bit.. disheveled."

Landing in the seat opposite her with a bit more grace than before, Emma nodded, answering, "They're very good. Mo's getting so big already, I can barely cradle her anymore." Though that hadn't taken away the fun they still had together. Maura had a new fascination with doing hair together with Momma and picking out dresses and shoes and generally enjoying their femininity. Then there were times Maura wanted to dress in shorts and a t-shirt and run around in the mud with Oliver and her daddy. Or rather, teleport.
Scoffing lightheartedly at the comment about her appearance, she shook her head, lifting a hand. "Thinking. But what else is new, right?" Heavier laughter escaped her nervously. "I was just rushing to get here. Haven't really had time to catch my breath." Or gather my thoughts--but here goes.
"I..." she began, an indisputable smile on her face, "I think I've made my decision."

"They're very good. Mo's getting so big already, I can barely cradle her anymore."
She frowned slightly. "Don't you hate when they grow up?" She laughed softly. "If I had the power, I'd keep these two at this age--wait, I take that back." She chuckled, shaking her head. "They're a handful. Maybe keep them at the age of three forever?" She joked.
"Thinking. But what else is new, right?"
Colette grinned. "Nothing wrong with thinking. But over-thinking can be troublesome." She pointed out, laying her elbow on the table, and her chin in the palm of her hand."I was just rushing to get here. Haven't really had time to catch my breath." She gave a light nod. "Understandable."
'Or gather my thoughts--but here goes.'
She perked a brow, waiting to here what she had to say. "I..." she began, an indisputable smile on her face, "I think I've made my decision." She sat upright then, the corners of her mouth turning into a small smile. "Oh?"

Nodding in agreement, she looked down to the twins, who were babbling baby talk to each other, evidently thoroughly entertained with the other. "Absolutely. But I still love watching them grow up. It's so amazing. They're gonna be adults someday; you can't even imagine it."
"Nothing wrong with thinking. But over-thinking can be troublesome."
"Touche," she laughed. "However, I still am guilty of both."
The curling smile on Colette's face was enough to let it blurt out, regardless of whatever reaction it might ensue. "If the position is still open," she went on, and though her words were hesitant, her tone wasn't held back, "I would like to try my hand at being Rosewood's professor."
Now all she had to do was wait.

"Mmm, I can. Laura's not far off from being an adult." She pointed out. "They grow up way too fast for my liking." She smiled. "Touche," she laughed. "However, I still am guilty of both." She laughed along with her. "So am I." She grinned.
"If the position is still open," she went on, and though her words were hesitant, her tone wasn't held back, "I would like to try my hand at being Rosewood's professor."
She couldn't hold it in. "Ahh!" She screamed. "I'd get up and hug you if I wasn't so tired." She laughed. "Of course it's still open." She smiled widely. "And it's yours, all of it."

An outburst! Not the reaction Emma had been expecting, but she figured that was how she wanted it. Colette shouted a random nonsense word and she started to laugh, hiding her rapidly reddening face behind her hands. There had to be more to it than that; she had to say "Oh, you need to fill out this form and I'll have to think on it and I'll get back to you; don't call me, I'll call you," but it wasn't anything like that.
Or even close, for that matter.
Her face fell into utter disbelief. "Seriously?" she reiterated, looking at her, hoping she was tugging back the beaming grin. "Just like that?"
Seemed that way. So fast. In that one instant, she was a professor.
Holy shit.

Colette laughed, finally taking to her feet and stretching her arms above her head a moment. "Seriously. Just like that." She grinned. "With people I don't know, there's this whole.. application thing. But Em, come on now. I know you. I know your a good person and you won't abuse your powers here."
"All that's left really is for me to make sure you know where everything is. And then I gotta run back home and get the book of students names and such and give it to you. And then, of course you gotta move in." She beamed a smile at her.

Standing with her, she felt like her heart was going to beat right out of her chest. A professor. Unreal. She had stood in this kitchen years ago as a student with a son, now she was going to be in charge of it, with that same son, and a daughter, and her husband. They were going to live here and her kids would go to school here, and oh... It couldn't be true, could it? Colette was pulling her leg.
Book of student names--nope, this was real.
Mirroring her smile, if not extending it, she answered, "It'll happen before you know it. I can't wait." Unable to contain herself, she pumped her fist once, letting out a victory cry. "Oh my God, I can't believe it. I actually did have some doubts. But now I think I can do it. Oh my God, Colette! Give me a hug!" she laughed, going in and throwing her arms around her friend, hardly caring if she was too tired.
The twins seemed to love the energy and clapped along with her. Emma cocked her head down to them and giggled. "Yeah, baby cakes. Aunt Emmy is a professor. How 'bout that, huh?"

Colette laughed freely, wrapping her arms around Emma as well and giving her a good hug. "I can't think of anyone better for the job. Besides, if you have any problems or any questions. I'm only a few blocks away, or a call away. Same with Ainslie." She smiled.
"Us professors have to stick together." She grinned, looking down at the twins as they clapped their hands and cooed up at them. "Yeah, baby cakes. Aunt Emmy is a professor. How 'bout that, huh?" She grinned, bending over to look at them. "Say that's great, Auny Emmy, fantastic."

Giving a heavy sigh, she lifted her hair off of her neck for a minute, still trying to speak amid laughter. She couldn't wait to tell Cian. Dean. Essence. Andrua. All of the Lawrences. This was huge--she wanted to tell anybody she could, even if they wouldn't listen. Finally, a worthwhile accomplishment...other than being a mother, of course. Nothing topped that, absolutely nothing. No greater calling other than that of motherhood.
"Yes, thank you very much," she breathed out again, leaning against the counter, trying to reel in her mind whose line had been thrown out a little too far. She'd started thinking about how this would effect her and Cian's agreement to have another baby next year, and it needed to be cut off. Right now wasn't a time to make everything blown out of proportion.
"So when can I start, boss?" she chuckled.

"Yes, thank you very much,"
She grinned. "Your welcome very much." She laughed softly. She couldn't be happier to see Emma so enthusiastic about this. "So when can I start, boss?" She shrugged, taking to lean against the counter beside her as the twins cooed back and forth with each other.
"Today? Tomorrow? Whenever you feel your ready." She smiled. "Just be thankful you don't have a student like Jude." She snickered, making a mental note to call Ains later on. See how things were going and all.
