It was a beautiful day. The colors were just start to change on the trees and it was brisk without being freezing. Which meant she got to break out her kick-ass boots and leggings. She wasn't a full-on fashionista but she liked to have some fun with her outfits. Cain had taken a day to be with Brianna which was adorable and made Josslyn's stomach squish pleasantly everytime she thought about it. But it left her alone and bored. So she decided to wander the city. And she had ended up in Brooklyn Heights, watching the kids play. This led her to thinking about Molleigh. Her stomach squished not-so-pleasantly. It still turned Cain's in knots, the situation with Am and Molleigh...and Saikoro. Josslyn sighed. She wondered if it would ever be resolved....

Amarie had decided to take Molleigh to the park. Shay and Addy were either with Sai or Flow--she didn't know which. Not that she was a bad mother and didn't keep track of her kids, it was just that she had left them that morning with Flow, and Sai might have decided to take them somewhere, or something. But she knew they were safe.
Molleigh was running around, and Amarie made sure she was within her sight. "'Ook, mah, weaves!" she squealed, pointing up at the sky as one little yellow leaf fluttered from one of the trees. Amarie smiled and picked up, lifting her high so that she could touch the leaves that were still on the trees. Molleigh giggled, and then saw something more interesting.
"Mah, 'ook! 'Ook!" SHe waved frantically at Josslyn--someone she recognized, though she didn't really know who it was. Amarie was a bit nervous about going over to talk to her, but she couldn't just ignore her now that Molleigh had made it so obvious who they were.
Walking along in the general direction of Josslyn, Am put Molleigh on her shoulders, so the girl could reach at the leaves and look around, up high like a bird. "Hey'o," said Molleigh, as they gopt closer to Josslyn. Amarie tried for a smile, telling herself that this was not oging to be a problem.

"Mah, 'ook! 'Ook!"
Josslyn glanced up at the sound of a happy child, beaming. Her smile lost some wattage upon seeing who it was. Molleigh and Amarie. And they were coming over. Shit, shit, shit. Josslyn swallowed and bit the isde of her cheek nervously. This couldn't end well... She forced a smile, though, and waved lightly to the little girl.
"Hey'o."
Josslyn barely glanced at Amarie before looking up at the little girl. "Hello, Molleigh. How are you on this fine day?" She giggled to the toddler. Swallowing again, she forced her eyes to Amarie's. "Hi," she murmured softly.

She rather thought that Josslyn's smile had been as forced as hers was. Molleigh giggled, as this lady seemed to recognize her, too. "Twees!" she said randomly, pointing the one closest, its pretty red leaves turning into orange and then yellow as you looked up. Molleigh liked fall so far. The leaves were so pretty!
"Hi," mumbled Amarie back. She didn't really want Josslyn to dislike her, so she figured she ought to do something. "Um, about, about that time... with.. Cain, uh, I..." Shit, how hard could it be to say something so simple? She half-wanted to apologize, but what was there to apologize for, really? She shook her head inwardly, exasperated.

"Twees!"
"You like the trees, huh pretty girl?" Josslyn giggled. God, Molleigh was beautiful. No wander Cain was practically dying inside without her... "Aren't they nice, with all the different colors?"
"Hi. Um, about, about that time... with.. Cain, uh, I..."
Josslyn dropped her eyes to the ground. Her fingers fumbled with a thread on the hem of her skirt. "Yeah. That was bad, huh?" She wasn't sure what to say about it. She had tried not to get in involved as best she could. And if Amarie was feeling bad (which, in Josslyn's opinion, she should be) then she should apologize to Cain. Talk to him, and let him see Molleigh.
Sure, he had Brianna now, more or less, and he cared for the little girl. But it wasn't the same. It wasn't the same as your own daughter.

"Twees!" Molleigh repeated. "Uh-huh! Pa-wettty co'ors." She paused for a second, and said, "Pa-wetty, yike 'our 'air!" She pointed to Josslyn's hair, liking the color that was similar to Mommy's, but different too. "Yike da mary-goldens!" Molleigh liked flowers--especially those 'mary-goldens' of hers. Marigolds was what she really meant, but Amarie thought it was too cute, so she didn't correct her. Molleigh giggled, pleased with her little simile.
Amarie wanted to do all of those things, at least a par of her did--she wanted to apologize, talk to him, let him see Molleigh. But then another part of her didn't want him to. She didn't know why; but she just felt it might not be good. So she was sort of undecided. But she knew she better make up her mind soon, because... it was obvious that not being able to see MOlleigh hurt him. His crying, after the time they had talked--she felt horrible. She had to go do something.
"Yeah, it was." She had to fix it. Making up her mind quickly, so that she couldn't go back on her decision, she asked, "Uh, do you know where Cain is? Right now?" She was hoping Josslyn did. And if she didn't... Am would just have to wander around, visiting places that she was used to seeing him at. That was the best way to find someone, right?

Josslyn laughed with the little girl, smiling. Her hand went to the hair Molleigh complimented, tugging on a strand. "Thank you, sweetie. You have some very nice hair yourself."
She was a little surprised at the question about Cain but shook her head to answer. "No. Well, not exactly. He went out with Brianna." Oh no. She hadn't wanted to mention Brianna. Just because, well, she didn't know if Cain wanted anyone to know or if anyone knew about the little girl or any of that. She bit her lip and let out a little sigh. Oh well. She had already said it, can't take it back...
"Why?" she asked, not unkindly. "Are you...looking for him?" Why would Amarie be out looking for Cain? Unless she was planning on apologizing to Cain. Which would be great.

Molleigh beamed at Josslyn, and Amarie muttered in her ear, "Manners?" Molleigh looked seriously back at her mom, and then turned to Josslyn and said, "Ta'n joo!" she said, loudly and enthusiastically. She touched her own hair, and pulled it so she could see it. "Na'ht as pah-wetty as yo-wers." she pulled her hair back and then let it go. Her hair was pretty long, but she didn't think it was quite as pretty as Josslyn's or Mommy's.
"Oh, uh, okay then." Brianna must have been the little girl who had walked into her that time at the Saints & Sinner's place. She seemed cute--it was nice Cain had another 'child figure'. But where did he find the girl, anyway? Kids just didn't drop out of the sky.... Did they?
"Oh, um yeah; I just wanted to... er, talk to him." She didn't know why she didn't want to tell Josslyn exactly what she wanted to talk to him about. It wasn't as if she didn't trust the girl; it was just... She didn't know. But it didn't really matter--Cain would probably talk to Josslyn about it later, depending on the outcome.

"Ta'n joo!"
Josslyn giggled at the little girl's pronunciation. "You're very welcome. And you're so well-mannered. Bet you Mommy taught you that, huh?" Not like she was trying to butter the woman up or anything but offering Amarie a compliment couldn't hurt, right? Especially if they were going to work things out, her and Cain. Because Amarie would have to at least think Josslyn decent if she was going to potentially be around Molleigh.

"I hope you do. He really wants to be able to see him daughter." Josslyn immediately felt bad after the words left her mouth. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to guilt you into anything. Sorry." She put a hand to her forehead and laughed a little self-deprecatingly. "I mean, it is your choice in the end, I guess. I'm just...with him, you know? So I guess I'm biased?"
She just kept digging herself deeper and deeper. "I'm gonna stop talking now," she said with an embarrassed laugh.

"Yup, yup! Mommy ta'h me eet! Maaaaah-nerrs!" Molleigh giggled and smiled at Josslyn. She liked this lady so far, even if she didn't exactly know who she was. But she was nice and pretty and seemed to know a lot about her and Mommy so she asssumed Josslyn was a friend--of sorts, at least.
Amarie nodded. "Yeah, I, uh, kinda thought so. It was what I was going to talk to him about." She admitted, smiling. And she hoped that it would all work out well. She didn't want to keep her distance from Cain, because then she would most likely grow to sort of dislike him. And then... she would have to dislike Josslyn--which was hard, because Josslyn was a nice girl.
"Oh, no, it's okay," said Am. Sometimes people just needed to say things. Maybe if Amarie hadn't actually sort of made up her mind on the matter, then Josslyn could have convinced her. Because she saw that as part of the problem--did Josslyn need frequent reminders that the man she was dating was a father?

Josslyn offered a pretty smile. "Good. I hope you can work it out." She looked to the little girl, pulling a funny face to make her laugh. "Because this pretty little girl is too much fun to miss out on."
Poor Cain. She couldn't imagine not being able to see her daughter. Her father didn't seem to care about her enough to seek her out at all. Josslyn couldn't help the soft smirk that came to her face then. She had found him, though, and gotten in his face with the whole scene with Eric. Only good part of all that, sticking it to her father.

"Yeah, I hope so too...." she said, looking down at little Molleigh, who giggled at the face Josslyn made. Amarie felt like she liked Josslyn a lot more now. Before... well, Josslyn was just a girl to her. Someone who sort of stole Cain away. Except now... she wasn't so sure. Jossie didn't seem to mind the fact that having Am and Cain fix this meant her seeing a lot more of Cain's daughter.
"Joo thilly!" squealed Molleigh, still giggling at Josslyn. "I yike joo," she added as an afterthought. She hoped this funny lady liked her too. Because she liked to laugh. And Mommy was good at making her laugh, but Mommy seemed sadder more often--she didn't know why, but she hoped Mommy would get better.
[[eew, sorry, short and yucky. Dx]]
