Ville strummed his guitar as he walked along the streets in the shadows. It had been a long time since he had just walked. Walked and listened. Usually there were wishes to be thrown out casually, and Ville would be bound to a person for ten wishes. He REALLY hoped no one would wish for something useless while he was out there. Some times... being a Džinni ((ooc: that's finnish for Genie)) could be difficult. It was a cold night. Ville had been wondering for a few weeks. Many people needed his help, but he needed to find someone that he could help... and in return help him. "I hear you weep so far from me. I taste your tears like you're next to me. And I know my weak prayers are not enough to heal oh the ancient wounds so deep and so dear. The revelation is of hatred and fear." Little did he know how soon that song would come true... again...

How long had it been now? Minutes, hours, days, weeks, months? Maybe years? Time didn't matter anymore. Everything sort of ceased to exist. She didn't notice passing of time, she didn't notice faces, she didn't really have memories. Well, no, she did have memories. Not good memories, but they were there. Just the fragmented pieces of her old life. Like pieces of a torn photograph--ripped beyond repair, but you still know what's there. She walked along the streets, looking down at her feet. New York wasn't very interesting. not even with the demons or angels. She didn't even find it interesting. But then again, nothing was interesting to her anymore. Nothing ever held interest for her. Her eyes slid past people, animals, past other creatures mingling on the streets. Not even an occasional loud sound fazed her. It was as if she was viewing the world from underwater--no sounds, thoughts, no emotions really penetrated her, So the singing and guitar playing really didn't do much for her. The words, however meaningful, drifted past her. But the sound, the music itself, the calm voice, it struck some sort of chord within her. He sounded like her older brother. Her best friend. Until it all had been taken away. She sighed, feeling the strong uprise of depression in her. "I wish I had a friend," she sai softly, looking up at the sky. How could the world be so cruel to her? What had she done? If there was a God, why did He or She do this to her?

"I wish I had a friend."
That was extremely direct. Some people really didn't know the power that those two words had. "I wish..." that's all it took for a genie like him to be spell bound. Ville's fingers paused over the frets. That is a true need.. He thought as his legs automatically turned him toward the voice. It sounded empty.
She was average sized, had long blonde hair, and was generally beautifull. Except... it seemed as if all life had been sucked from her. She was listless, downtrodden, and alone. "I wish I had a friend." the words echoed in his head, as all wishes that were made around him did, and compelled him to place a hand on her shoulder.
"You're not alone." He said. What has made her so alone? Somehow she reminded him of himself. He never had anyone be his true friend. They found out he was a genie and automatically assumed he was a slave. The word was bitter to him. He hated being an object of greed. Ville hoped fervently that she would be different.

May closed her eyes and stood there numbly, listening to the sound fade away. Why had he stopped singing? She opened her eyes, hollowly curious, and turned to where the sound was. He was right by her, closer than she had imagined. And he spoke to her. He was probably the first person who had spoke to her in a while. Everyone else, she had always gotten the impression they spoke at her.
She tried a smile, but then realized it would be useless. Anyway, who smiled at strangers? She just looked at him--not quite a stare, but more of just... looking. Like asking him why he was talking to her with her eyes. "Um," she started, her voice quiet, "I'm not so sure about that. Because I kind of am. Alone, that is," she said. She had not spoken so many words for... a long time.
"Oh, uh, do you... Need something?" she asked calmly. Wasn't the only reason he would come up to her was because he needed something? That was usually why people talked to strangers, right? She looked back down at her feet. She was not good with people. She was not good at anything, in general. As she looked down, his words echoed in her head. She wasn't alone. She wasn't alone.
But she was. She was.

She didn’t believe him. She stood there and looked at him questioningly. It was okay though. Ville DID stare at her. She had a beautiful face but it was hidden by pain. They were the same after all.
"I'm not so sure about that. Because I kind of am. Alone, that is," she said. Ville frowned. She did need his help. She was probably the most in need person he had ever seen.
"Oh, uh, do you... Need something?" she asked. She seemed nervous. Perhaps she’s shy and isn’t used to talking to people? No… people who are shy don’t look like they’ve been torn to shreds. Ville took a deep breath.
“You said you needed a friend. Well so do I, and here I am.” That sounded harsh. He argued with himself. Try again Ville. “I am just as alone as you are.” How am I soposed to get her to understand?

They stood there looking at each other. May's questioning look turned to one of indifference and not-at-all disguised boredom. She wasn't bored with him, no, she was still slightly shocked he had even talked to her, but she figured like this would be like any other time someone had stopped her on the street. Some asked for directions, others (mothers, presumably) asked if she was okay. May knew she didn't hide her pain well, but it didn't matter. No one really saw it.
He seemed slighty fidgety, as if there was something he just had to say, but he couldn't find the right words to say it. She waited patiently--after all, what was a few minutes compared to the rest of her sorry, monotonous life?
She raised her eyebrows briefly at him. "I didn't know you heard me say that," she said, sort of talking to herself. Anyway, why would he want to be her friend? She was just some hurt, lost little girl who didn't know what to do with herself. Because that was exactly what she was. She didn't say anything to his first comment. So he was alone, too?
"There are better friends you could have than me," she said softly, her voice little more than a whisper. She was a quiet sort of girl, after all. And the fact her voice was hardly ever used didn't much help her volume and projection. She continued to gaze at him, more wondering. "And why are you alone?" she asked. She skirted around te most obvious question, 'who are you', because right now it didn't even matter. She didn't care.

She still thought he was joking around? It’s not like I want to let her know I’m a genie… oh yeah I can picture that conversation… not good.
"I didn't know you heard me say that. And why are you alone?" she asked. Her voice was quiet and rough. She doesn’t talk much. He thought. The more she spoke the more he realized how oportune her wish was.
“My name is Ville. I’ve been a slave to thirty people during the corse of my life. THAT is why I’m alone… That’s why I’m not lying to you. I don’t know what hurt you or why anyone or anything would hurt you, but I’m determined to try to bring you back to life.”
That came out a bit quicker and stronger then I was expecting. “Kipu on katkera asia. Pain is a bitter thing.”

She just let her eyes sort of widen at his words. He was still joking, right? Out of all the people on the street, he chose her?! She bit her lip. "Well, I'm sorry about that," she said, eyes still cast downward. Slave to thirty people? No one had slaves anymore, did they? What did he mean by that? She grimaced slightly at his words about 'bringing her back to life'. "There's been to much death in my existance for there to be life anymore," she said dryly, her voice almost cracking on the word 'death'. The knives, black clothing, the piano, her mother, a baby, a long loud wail... She closed her eyes shut hard and tried not to collapse.
Instead, she leaned back against the brick wall, sliding down it until she was huddled on the ground, arms wrapped around her knees. Those memories... should not do this to her. She could be strong. God, no she couldn't. She could. But she couldn't. Ugh, she thought. He must be wondering what's wrong with me.
"Yeah, it is." She said, looking up at him from her spot on the ground. "But sometimes it's good. Sometimes, pain is the only thing that let's you know you're still there."

She was having images flash through her head. They weren’t thoughts exactly, but the things that were burdening her. I guess the astral echo has already taken place. She had slid down the wall and put her head in her hands.
Ville sat down next to her and strummed his guitar. The images flashed through his mind still. He had to think this out. Here was a teen girl who had seen more death then any person should, and who had had a child.
Ville wanted to give her a hug… but to many people were walking around. She seemed like she was going to cry at any moment.
“Yeah it is,” she stated suddenly, suprising Ville, “but sometimes it’s good. Sometimes it’s the only thing that lets you know you’re still alive.” Ville winced.
“It’s true. But pain shouldn’t be dwelt upon. You wanted a friend, I wanted a friend, let’s get past our pain together.”

She watched him sit down next to her, feeling slightly calmed by his presence. There was something about him... She didn't know what, but something was different. He seemed to sort if understand her, and at least care a tiny bit. And he had no reason to care. But he had came up to her, and was still talking to her--which was way more than she could ever have asked for.
She listened to the notes from his guitar shake in the air, echoing slightly. They wove together a sort of meaningless tune, but it resonated somehow within her, and she sighed. She felt immensely weighed down by her mistakes and what life had thrown at her. That baby on the grass, the sun on his face, but his body stone cold... Her lying there, for days, half-dead. She once more saw flashes of black, mingling with White to form piano keys, the faces of all of her family, the aloneness she had felt like a great abyss in her chest.
She didn't just seem like she was about to cry--she felt like it, too. But she sucked in a deep, somewhat ragged breath and held it in. Crying on a stranger would probably not be a good idea. Anyway, she had told herself earlier that she was okay, she would be okay.
"But what else is there to do web you're all alone?" she replied absently. How many times had she reviewed her family's faces, the warmth and joy that nameless child had brought, the old memories from her childhood? What else did she have for company, besides the occasional ghost? Even the ghosts avoided her, because se obviously couldn't help them--anyway, it would not help them to go to someone as depressed as she was. She was always alone--nothing could ever take her mind off of her memories and the bad past of hers.
She still didn't know anything about him other than his name, but did it matter? He was going to be her friend. Friends, they were going to be. Like, friends. Friends. Friends. That word kept echoing in her head--she liked the sound of it.

“What else is there to do when you’re alone?” She asked. Good question. Ville thought.
“I sing.” Ville shrugged. “It depends on the person. For instance you could be the drawing type, or the photography kind. Some people talk aimlessly, though I don’t believe that you’re that kind of person.”
Ville looked at her. She still seemed ready to cry. “I don’t mind if you cry…” He said quietly… very quietly. Life didn’t turn out well for either of them. It was time for the sun to come back out, at least in her life.

She rather though her type was the music type. Whenever she has been sad or unhappy or frustrated before everything had happened, she used to pick up her guitar, or make room on the piano bench. Music was just easy to her like that. Although she didn't have instruments anymore. What else could she do to not dwell on the past? "I don't think so, either," she said, with an actual attempt at a smile.
He shouldn't have said that. Because now she had to cry. She bit her lip, and put her head back in her hands, curling herself up into the smallest ball that she could manage without actually lying on the ground. The wall as digging into her back, but she didn't care. She started to sob quietly, her tears soaking slowly into her jeans and her arms. It felt good to cry--all those tears she had been holding back.
"Why am I so weak?" she asked. It was a somehwat rhetorical question, mostly asked to herself. Why couldn't she stop doing this? Why did she have to hurt herself constantly, and distance herself from people? Why was it so hard for her to ever actually feel like she was loved. Oh, how she wished she was loved.

She began to cry. That was good. She probably had been bottling them up. Okay… that’s a good start. He thought.
“Why am I so weak?” she sobbed. Ville put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close to him. Let it all out.
“You are not weak. Don’t ever think that.” Ville patted her back. He almost felt like crying as well but didn’t, she was crying enough for the both of them. Ville helped her sit up when she was crying a bit less, then opened his guitar case and brought out a tissue package and handed it to her.
“What is your name?” He finally asked when she calmed down enough to talk.

He put his arm around her, and it was such a good feeling. She was pulled closer to him, and it felt nice to be... Well, to be so close to another person. She didn't even know him, but he already had her trust. She liked him, too. She didn't know why, but she just did.
It felt so good to cry. She had told herself she wasn't gonna cry on him, but she had. At least he seemed to know how to deal with people who cried. He just held her close, and helped her actually sit up when the sobs had reduced to infrequent little sniffles. She smiled her thanks at him as he passed her some tissues, and she held one delicately in her hand, before he asked his question. "Oh, my name is May. Just... May." She said. She didn't have a last name that she liked to remember, and anyway--May was a fully functional name. She didn't need a last name.
She looked at his guitar case and guitar as she dabbe at get eyes with a tissue. "H-haw you played for long?" she asked with a slight hiccup. She could already feel a headache coming--she always got headaches when she cried.

"Oh, my name is May. Just... May." She told him. Ville smiled.
"Nice to meet you."
"H-How you played for long?" She asked. Well thats kind of a mixed up scentence. Ville thought for a moment. How long have I played?
"I think i've been playing since I was two.. But i'm not sure, I try not to remember things and move on." Ville stood. "Here, let's go get coffee."

"Nice to meet you, too," she said with a shy smile. Maybe this was her first stroke of good luck--she met someone on the street who actually seemed interested in her as a person. He actually wanted to be her friend. She still didn't know why, but it didn't bother her.
Since he was two. That was a long time. And how old was he now? He didn't look older than his late twenties... He didn't look old at all, really. She scrutinized him, curiosity renewed.
"Oh, okay," she said with a shrug, getting some strength from somewhere and getting up quickly. Usually when she cried, she felt drained and couldn't really move much for a while. But something about him.. She didn't even know who he really was, and she already liked him.
Maybe there's a God above...

Ville almost expected to have to coax her to get up. She suprised him, however.
"I'm somewhat excited. Two days in this city, i've got a friend and a job." Ville smiled. "One problem though... I don't know where the nearest coffee shope is..."

She actually managed a small grin at his words. Only... months in this city, and she had her first friend. It wasn't as impressive for her (of course, it was the opposite; one would have expected her to make at least ONE friend before this).
"Oh, I do." She said. it was one useful thing when she lived mostly on the streets for months--she got to know most of the streets that she walked on. 'That way," she said, pointing towards the left. "I.... think," she said, biting her lip. She ran through the 'maps' in her head. Photographic memory was useful.

She led them to the Coffee Shop and he payed for their drinks then sat them down at one of the lounging areas. Ville took an aprehensive sip of his and burned his tounge.
The coffee shop was rather quiet for a saturday. Ville smiled. "Music always begins with silence." Ville looked over at May. "Do you play anything?" Ville absentmindedly twirled his finger at the table and made a yellow rose grow and bloom.
Ville picked the rose and breathed in fully. "The yellow rose symbolizes friendship you know. It also has, in my opinion, one of the best scents." Ville looked at her from the corner of his eye, then handed the rose to her. "Tässä, ystäväni. Here, my friend."

May just sat, staring absently at he drink. It felt weird to be sitting with someone, acting so normal. She was used to being all alone, outside. Not.. inside some place warm, with someone she had met off the street and made friends with.
She looked up at him, smiling slightly. "Yeah. I dunno if I still can, haven't played in forever, but I used to be okay at paino, and I could play a few little songs on the guitar. My family was very... musical." And they were. For them, music was the key to getting to Heaven when you died. She hoped they were right...
She smiled at the rose, blushing slightly as he gave it to her. "Thanks," she said, smelling it slightly. It was very good smelling, and sweet. "Just curious, what language is that? I've never heard it before." It sounded sort of.. different. It had a nice sound, though.
