A dress? Of all things.. a dress? She was buried in the dress her mother bought her in 10th grade that she never wore and that hung in the back of her closet until now. She was buried in a cocktail dress. Okay, so her mother wanted her to look beautiful. The dress did bring out her eyes, but when you are dead in a casket your eyes are closed. She walked around her feet already throbbing. Her body felt the same as she had left it, but she knew it was all wrong. She was in the dress her mother chose for her to decay under the earth in, and now she was walking the earth in it. She couldn't even be happy for all the other peple around her at the park laughing and having a good time. She walked in a sulky way looking at her feet the whole time. Her cheeks were tear stained, but she had cried her eyes and there were no more tears to cry. She took what was left of her mind and walked over to the bench. She straigtened her dress before she sat down. She crossed her legs and rested her elbow on her knee. She felt her heart sink. Micheal brought her here to ask her to be his girlfriend. She loved it here, but now it just brought back old memories that made her heart ache. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She opened her eyes and looked out over to the foutain of a little girl playing with a ball in the middle of it. She grinned softly resting her head in her hand. She just sat there trying to find the good in all this. Surely to God...or Omni, there was another angel out here just like her. She lost her concentration when she heard a laugh she recognized... or she thoguht she did. The laugh was identical to her sister's. She turned slightly to look at the source and it was an older woman with her daughter. She choked up. She would never be able to have a daughter, Get married, have a family. No she was stuck here in between the real and after life and she was still a virgin. Can you really call that a life? Especially, when you have no one to spend it with. She felt her heart race. Would she find anyone to help her through this pain?

He couldn't get Von Wittibald out of his head--that Italian aria, some "O Del Dolce"-something or other. He remembered how much his mother loved that aria, how she would play it while she was cooking dinner, and his father would be in the den with them, just come home from work, still smelling of the crisp air of outdoors, a smoking cigar in his mouth. Jadon would be on his knee, the quietest of his siblings, listening to them go on about their days, all the while paying more attention to the subtle curl of his father's mustache as he smiled that infamous smile. The music in the background... He snapped out of it, shaking it away. It was over. Done. For more than eighty years. They were all gone now, all of them. Jadon picked his head up, spotting nothing in particular in this ever-changing but never-thriving city. Just another day. Guess it was better to put the past behind him... Move on.

Megan felt a sudden pull. A pull that didn't necessarily feel bad. She looked up wiping her eyes. Instantly, she cleared all the thoughts of the people around her and focused to that of the someone...or something that was pulling her towards it. A memory. A mustache curled in a smirk, and just liked that it was over. She gasped letting herself travel back into her own thoughts. Her eyes searched and she saw a guy that seemed to have a glow. She stood up and fixed her dress.
Wow, didn't she look out of place. She cursed herself silently as she began to walk towards him. Her heartgrew bigger with every step. Was he? Could he be? An angel? She walked faster trying to catch him before he turned to walk away. This caused her to trip over her high heels and let them get caught in the crack on the sidewalk.
She fell on her butt in front of everyone with a small scream. She sat there pouting a bit as she dusted off her dress with tears forming in her eyes. "Great just what I needed scratched up knees to go with my dress that obviously isn't suited for walking in the park." She said allowed. Only a few people stop and stared, but it looked like no one would stop and help her up.
Well that was New York for ya. She tried to get up using her feet...which if she had thoguht about if before doing it she would have known it was a bad idea. She ploppde right back down on the conrete. "I give up..." She threw up her arms and crossed them around her chest. The guy was probably gone by now and now she would never find out what he was.
She growled to herself letting out a stream of curses. She felt so out of place, and yet she was just on this earth about three weeks ago. She was part of this not even a month ago. This...New York...used to be her life.

A distinct "oof!" accompanied by a tiny yelp of helplessness caught his ear, and he just saw the end of a girl falling into the ground. She appeared to be all right, but he wasn't in any hurry, and why not be the good Samaratin? Wouldn't hurt to be nice. Besides--maybe a little kindness was what this city really needed.
"Took quite a fall, huh?" he scoffed, showing that he wasn't ridiculing her trip in any way, holding out his hand for her, since she was still on the ground, seemingly giving up. What was keeping her down, he wondered? Not that he had a gift for it or anything, but Jadon knew he had a way of cheering people up. Maybe he could weave his magic on her a little bit. Something seemed to be eating at her.
"Y'all right?"

Megan smiled softly at the kind voice, she looked up to see the face behind it. The guy! "Yeah being overdressed can cause injuries." She grinned and took his hand. She stood up fixing her dress. He was still a few inches talled then her even with heels on. She grinned.
"I think I will be okay. " She placed her hand on his shoulder and leaned to the side to tae off her heels. She let go of his shoulder and held her shoes in her hands. "I'm much better now though." She said as she looked down at her red feet.
She switched hands with her shoes and held out her hand to shake his. "I'm Megan." She smiled. "And what can I call the person who helped a girl who obviously gave up?" It had been awhile since she had smiled like this. She was just glad she was talking to someone.
She gave him a small smile. She prayed he was another angel. She couldn't get attached to someone she could never really be with. It's no fun to make friends or more with people when you know you will never change and they will grow old and die.
Thinking of being more she gave him a nonchalant check out glance. He was cute. Cuter than Micheal she admitted to herself. His smile seemed to put the sunshine to shame. She liked his aura, angel or not, he seemed like a good guy.

He laughed, nodding. "Never really understood why women wear such high heels," he admitted softly, again trying to show that he wasn't insulting her attire. He put his hands in his pockets, trying to keep eye contact with her, though she looked at the ground a few times. He started to walk slowly, looking back to her as a gesture for her to follow.
"Jadon," he answered with a grin. "Nice to meet you, Megan." What was with pretty girls in this park? Maybe he was blessed. Omni must like him. The thought made him grin inside.
"What're you doing out here--if you don't mind my asking--dressed like that?"

Megan followed slowly catching up to him. "Nice to meet you as well Jadon." She grinned. "Oh trust I didn't plan on wearing this." She said tryign to word it. If he wasn't an angel she didn't want to freak him out. "Let's just say I was dressed like this for something that is in the past..." She sighed softly.
She looked into his eyes knowing her own were tearing up. "What are you doing here all alone Jadon?" She asked softly. This was her nonchalant way of asking if he had a girlfriend. She played it off smoothly. Or she thought she did.
Why was she pulled to him. Did omni cause this to happen? He had to be an angel. She prayed, hoped he was an angel.

Didn't plan on wearing this? That left many things open. It made him think she didn't dress herself, but that seemed ridiculous all by itself. Something in the past... Hmm. Could she be...? No. It was almost impossible... Well, Shekinah existed. Why not other angels?
"All alone?" he echoed, as if he hadn't heard her right. "Dunno. Don't have anyone to be with, I s'pose." Something about this Megan told him something was different. Just like...oh, he didn't know. The way she...glowed.

Megan leaned forward and grinned. "Well I guess that's always a good reason. She had to ask... She had to risk it. "Umm has anyone ever told you that you umm..glow?" She asked softly looking down at her shoes praying she didn't sound weird.
"I mean I know that sounds weird, but you glow...like not in the sense of your personality which may glow..." She paused. "What I mean is..." She put a hand to her head and sighed. "I don't know what I meant." She paused. "All I know is something about you pulled me towards you and you glow...I don't know if that means you are..." She took a deep breath.
"What I am... or I'm just seeing things." She was rambling on. "Okay so I talk to much and I sound crazy." She paused. "I'm sorry... That fall must have caught up with me." Smoooth, she thought, blame it on the fall. That's always a great excuse.

It was weird, how they used the exact same word to describe each other. That was enough to convince Jadon. A tiny, playful smirk started to creep up one side of his face, and he turned his face to the ground for a moment. "I think you do know what you meant," he contradicted her, shaking his head and turned up to meet her eye.
"You glow, too."
And God, did she glow.
"Angel," he whispered, as if it were some sweet secret only the two of them could share.

Megan looked up her eyes pleading with something in his praying he was an angel. A large grin climbed across her face as he spoke the word. She had never thought that word would ever bring chills to her spine, but it did. She began to giggle softly.
"So it's true." She said over excited with joy. She wrapped her arms around him. "I'm so glad I'm not alone anymore." She said softly into the nape of his neck. She noticed how awkward that was, and she pulled away. "Sorry I was a little more excited than I should have been. You are probably used to seeing others down here."
She knew he knew what she meant, but it still felt weird to find someone like her walking the earth where she was. She took a deep breath. She looked away from him. "Will I get used to it? " She asked almost saddened.

Just as happy and relieve as she was, Jadon folded his arms around her, glad to have found another one like himself. It was a rare occasion, certainly. As she pulled away, he chuckled. "It's okay. And, no, not really. It's unusual to see someone else like me." With someone else here, he felt like she was already family. He slung an arm around her shoulders.
Her question made his face fall. He sighed, rubbing his chin. "I dunno," he answered truthfully, softly. "Sometimes it's weird...knowing you're gonna live forever and the people around you..." He swallowed. "Aren't."
Jadon shook his head. "But, yes, essentially, you do."

Megan looked at at him with a small grin as he answered his arm snug around her shoulders. "Well I'm glad I might you. Now I know I don't have to go through it all alone." She smiled and laid her head on his shoulder. She already felt so comfortable with him. It was such a relief having someone to be with during this hard stuff. She took a deep breath. "Not to pry or be rude, but how long ago did you die?" She asked wanting to swallow the words after she said them. It was rude and stupid to ask that t oan older angel.
She knew he had been in this longer than her. His aura gave that off, and the memory of course. The music the mustache that all was from an older time. instantly she yearned to know when and how he died, but she wouldn't pry to deep he would tell if he wanted to. She would tell him in a heartbeat only because she needed to talk about it before she expolded with all these emotions sooner or later.
She took a deep breath. "Sorry." She paused. "I just...I'm so new to this..." She sighed. "I've only turly been here a day and I already feel lost." She grinned softly. "If it weren't for you I would have probably just sat on that bench all day and cried." She admitted softly. She looked up changing the subject completely for a moment. "I just met you...yet I feel so comfortable with you. Like I can tell you anything. I just had to throw that out there." She smiled softly.

"Eighty years," he replied with a satisfied pep to his sigh. "During World War Two. Actually, that's gotta be more like ninety years now. I don't know. I lost count after I learned my family was gone, too. Can't find a scrap of descendents." Jadon hung his head. He would've thought there would be some grandchildren--at least from his sisters. They were always good family women.
And so much had changed between then and now.
He shook his head. "Don't be sorry," he hummed, eyes set in front of him. "It's normal." To reassure her, he sent her a soft grin. "Glad I could be of service, then. It's a pity to watch a lovely women sit and cry herself to death. And all alone, at that."
To her comment, Jadon laughed. "That's good."

She was bored. But at least it was nice out. She briefly considered just returning to Heaven but that would definitely be her last ditch option. She hated going back up unless it was edging on night and Omni would be missing her. Instead, she wondered up to Central Park. There was usually something interesting to see there, even if it was just the people walking around. Shekinah loved making up lives for them, imagining pasts.
Body loose and content, she wandered through the paths, smiling to the children out with their parents. A young couple passed by, grinning and engrossed with each other. The girl was good-naturedly teasing the man about losing a soccer game. Shekinah smiled. She loved people in love; they just radiated good feelings. Her step picked up a bit as she moved on.
Finally she spotted a familiar face. Jadon. A smile broke out. He was talking with some girl...another angel. Interesting. "Hey there, Jay," she greeted lightly, grinning. She ruffled his hair playfully and then passed a sincerely smile to the girl. "Hey, are you a newbie?" she asked. Shekinah usually knew the angels, at least the ones who frequented Earth.

Megan smiled softly, and watched the people around the park. She continued to walk with Jadon not doing anything, but think about how nice he was to cheer her up. She took a deep breath about to sigh when another woman who was glowing walked up.
She spoke to Jadon first. Then she turned to her. The womn was pretty no doubt, but she had an authority that scared her quite a bit. She cleared her throat and spoke. "I..uh guess you could say that... yes." She said stuttering a bit.
She nervously looked down at her hands as she fiddled with them. That woman had to be Jadon's girlfriend. She was so pretty and nice, and she had a nickname for him. They both looked pretty and like they would be together. She kept the disappointment stuck inside.

Silence engulfed them for a minute but he didn't mind at all. In fact, it gave him time to wonder how many angels were walking around, anyway. He knew Shekinah liked to wander around and mingle with the humans as much as possible, so were others here that he just didn't know about? The thought sent a sinking feeling to the pit of his stomach, but it was quickly relieved when he felt someone ruffle his hair.
"Hey," he whined playfully as he smoothed out his hair again, brushing it forward. "What're you doing here?" Suddenly remembering that this was an incredibly stupid question, he sighed, shoving his hand in his pocket and letting her have her fun ridiculing him for a moment, like he knew she would. Kinah was always on Earth.
As the two women addressed each other, Jadon's smile spread. "Yeah, this is Megan. Megan, this is Shekinah, my big sister," he joked.
