Despite what most would think of this place. Cain loved it here. He wasn't sure if he belonged, but Dominick reasurred him he did. Two lives, separate almost. Why should he give up on love because life had ended before he was ready?
Even when he came back, he still managed to live through the pain and the heartache of it all. Deep down, he knew he had no choice... He had to do it for Molleigh. She deserved better than this.
And yet.. Cain sighed softly, shaking his head as he looked down. And yet.. he was now sharing his 'dah' status with another. If it wasn't hard enough... it sure was now.
But in the midst of all of that. There was a chance of a second chance of having happiness in his life. There's was only one person to thank for that, and he did. Every single day, he did.
His eyes closed for a moment before he went back to work, wiping down the counters. It was still early in the morning, and he hoped Amarie had gotten his note..
He thought it was time for them to talk things out. One on one. They were Molleigh's parents. In the end, they would always see each other. It still made his blood boiled as he thought about Amarie keeping Molleigh from him.
He had every right to see her! Dead or alive, he was still right here. he was still her Dah! He shook his head, throwing the rag over his shoulder.
He knew today was just starting, and it felt like a long night coming...

Amarie had gotten his note. She sort of wanted to ignore it--she couldn't keep coming back to him... she needed to think of Sai now too--but she didn't. If Cain wanted to talk or at least see her or something--which was pretty inevitable, in the long run--she would respect that. A part of her would probably always love him. There was no way she could ever really fully get over him.
Every time she tried to forget, she heard his words--'Always and forever, love. Always and forever...' She was sure Sai and Cain both had no idea how much Amarie had been crying after Cain's death, and after he came back. Life seemed out to get her-she had wanted a way to fix her problems before it had gone to cheating, and she had got her wish.
Cain's death.
Shaking her thoughts out of her head, telling herself this wasn't going to be bad at all, she walked into the place--she had never been here before. She looked all around, very interested suddenly. She saw Cain, and walked over to him, a shy smile on her lips, hands behind her back.
"Hi," she said softly.

He was so deep in thought, he didn't hear the door open. What if she wasn't coming? What if she just wanted to not talk to him, or see him at all? Was it that painful for her? Cause it sure as hell was for him.. Seeing her and Sai together in the beginning was like ripping his heart out his chest, throwing it to the ground and having them both stomp on it.
"Hi,"
His train of thought skidded to a stop as he looked up, seeing her standing before him. "Hey." He said back just as softly. How awkward was this going to be? How painful.. was this going to be? Not just for him.. but for her too...
"You got me note, I see." He sighed softly, throwing the rag over his shoulder. Something he'd seen Dominick do a thousand times. "Amarie, I think we need to talk." He spoke softly, looking down a moment before looking into her eyes.

Amarie nodded, and shifted her weight from one foot to the other. She felt very awkward about this--bitterly and slightly unfairly she thought that Cain probably would rather be with his new girlfriend, Josslyn. But she was so happy for Cain--he had gotten over her, so it seemed. He had someone else. She was glad she hadn't affected him too much. He was... happy. And that was all she wanted.
She looked down too, before bringing her gaze up to meet his. "Yeah," she said, voice quieter than the first time. "What... do you wanna talk about?" she smiled, but her insides twisted. Was something wrong? Was he going to tell her he never wanted to see her again? Or what? She bit her lip, nervous.

"Yeah," she said, voice quieter than the first time. "What... do you wanna talk about?"
He chewed on his inner cheek a moment. "Everything." He let out a soft and short chuckle. "Mainly Molleigh.." He said shortly after. "It's not fair, Am.. I'm her dah. she should know me, ya?" He asked, brows raised.
He leaned on the bartop a moment, thinking. "Then there's the whole 'Daddy-Sai' thing.." He whispered softly. "I'm not tryin' to barge in on your life with him.. I.." He sighed loudly, moving around the bartop to sit on a stool beside her.
"It's hard to explain.."

"Yeah, I--I'm sorry, about that. She... you can.. come over and see her or take care of her anytime you want." she smiled a bit awkwardly, hoping that this was going to be a nice, simple talk--not something like an argument, or one that ended in tears and people watching with amusement, like the last conversation they had had.
She looked downward once more as he mentioned Sai--she knew he would mention Sai. It was kind of impossible not to talk about him... but it wasn't something she enjoyed to do with Cain. He probably didn't enjoy it either, though. She had sorta picked Sai over him, and that must have hurt like hell for Cain.
"Could you... try explaining it?" she asked, wanting to know what exactly it was he wanted. She wasn't pleased with the idea that Molleigh would grow up knowing two dads--hoe would she explain that, when Molleigh found out everyone else only had one?--but it was only fair. She couldn't keep their daughter for him. And she couldn't also deny that she wouldn't like to see Cain once in a while, as well.

"Yeah, I--I'm sorry, about that. She... you can.. come over and see her or take care of her anytime you want."
He gave a nod. "That jus' lifted a weight off me shoulders." He gave a soft smile. "I'm glad you think that, and I hope you agree with what I'm about to say.." He took a deep breath, leaning sideways on the bar. His hand went through his hair, making it stand on end. "I would love to have Molleigh stay a few nights with me a week." There, he said it.. and it felt good to get it off his chest.
"Could you... try explaining it?"
He bite down on his lip. "I'll try." He replied with a slight shrug. "Molleigh.. she doesn't understand what's goin' on.. I can see that, and I don't.." He sighed softly. "It'd kill me to see her one day call Sai dah, and not me.." He looked down. He felt down right selfish to speak like that. But he was her dah... and that was the way it was.
"I sound selfish sayin' that.." He quipped. "But it's the truth.. I know that I have certain rights to say what I wish and what I want for Molleigh... I jus'-- I jus' want her to know her true dah.. I don't care if she thinks of him as a step-dah. I could care less.." He looked down again. "I want her to know that I'm her dah.. And that, no one else could ever take my place."

Her stomach tightened once again. He' hoped she would agree with what he was going to say'? She didn't know why she felt nervous--she never had felt nervous around Cain. She loved him, so much. But when he continued on, she sighed. Twirling a piece of hair around her fingers, she bit her lip and said, "Uh, sure. That could... be arranged." She tried to smile, but it wouldn't come. She didn't have a problem with that... but wouldn't it confuse their poor baby girl?
"I..." she started, but then changed her mind on what she was going to say. She bit her lip--Molleigh was gonna have a hard childhood. But Amarie respected Cain's right to see her--she was their child, after all, not like Amarie could be selfish and keep Molleigh away from him (her mind flicked to Emma and Oliver, but she thought that was different). "But... if... How am I gonna answer her questions though? She'll be bound to notice one day nobody else has two dads, and everything. I want to wait as long as possible to try to explain all of this to her..." she sighed. "But... yes. I--I agree, I guess. You're... her dah. I... I can't take that right away from you. She.. can think of Sai as something else." she smiled, and looked down, wondering if there was anything else he wanted to talk about.

"Uh, sure. That could... be arranged."
That sure didn't sound like a steady answer. To Cain, it sounded almost as if she was trying to find a reason for Molleigh not to stay with him a few nights out of the week. The whole situation he found himself in was beginning to get on his last nerve. It was bad enough he lost Amarie to Sai.. But he wasn't losing Molleigh to him either. He'd rather die all over again.
"But... She.. can think of Sai as something else."
He bit the inside of his lip, pondering over that. "When the time comes, you'll know what ta say. I want to be there too, I want to tell her I had no choice but to leave her behind with you." He said softly, looking down. "She deserves so much more, Am.. So much more than this."

"She does," agreed Amarie quietly, before adding, almost bitterly, "..and so do you." She had been speaking quietly, and she wasn't sure if Cain ad heard the last bit--but it didn't really matter. Not to her, at least. But Cain did deserve better. He had died for Amarie.. after giving her her kid, and then he comes back to life.. only to find Amarie already engaged to another man.
Amarie shook her head,so frustrated at this mess and how it all was her darn fault. All of it. She had hurt Cain like this, she had brought this on Molleigh.... All of it was her fault. And no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape that. It depressed her--knowing that if she had done a few simple things, life could have been just as it was before Cain had died. It hurt knowing that. Much more than anyone probably knew, cared, or expected.

"She does," agreed Amarie quietly, before adding, almost bitterly, "..and so do you."
He looked at her, giving a soft nod. "I wish I could still sense how ye feel." He admitted softly. "I wish a lot of things anymore." He said quietly. "More than anythin' I wish ye could realize I'm okay now." He smiled softly at her, leaning over and kissing her forehead softly.
"Despite what I went through.. after.." He took a deep breath. "I got a second chance at happiness, and I want ta make the most of that. Hell.. maybe more kids. Not sure how that works with me being an..." He winced. Shut up Cain..

"Sometimes you don't look okay," she said with a small, sad smile on her face. She leaned on him, breathing in his scent--she had always loved his smell, she had it memorized, though it didn't have a name yet. She sighed, and turned to him as he spoke again.
"I'm sure... you and Josslyn..." she shrugged her shoulders. He didn't need to hear the rest of her sentence. He would get the drift, most likely. He had Josslyn now--and no matter how much Amarie wanted to keep him for herself, she knew she couldn't. She couldn't be that selfish. And Cain needed someone better. Someone.. who didn't cheat. Someone who would make him happy.
Someone like.. Josslyn.

"Sometimes you don't look okay,"
His mouth twisted slightly as he tucked her hair behind her ear. "There for awhile, I wasn't lo--" He winced again. He couldn't call her that anymore, not again, never again. He took a deep breath and sighed. "Sometimes I would see you, and purposely walk the other way." He admitted softly. "Simply because it hurt so much."
"I'm sure... you and Josslyn..."
He perked a brow, looking at her. "Go on." He said softly. "Josslyn and I...?" He smiled softly. The door opened, and Dominick walked in, giving Cain a soft smile as he disappeared behind the curtain into the private room. "Boss." He said softly with a smile. "You want anything to drink?" He asked, taking to his feet.

Amarie cringed slightly as he cut off the word 'love'. Oh yeah--he couldn't cal her that anymore. She wasn't his.... she probably never would be. Never, ever, again. It sort of made her feel sad--she would miss seeing him every day. But she had Sai, which was pretty much way more than she deserved. A part of her would always probably love Cain, but she devoted herself to Sai. That was just how things were.
Amarie shook her head. "I know she'll be your happy ever after." Because Amarie had failed at that. She had failed at that so badly. She watched as Dominick came in, and smiled at him, a bit unsure as he then disappeared. She sat there, wondering if she and Cain would ever even be able to talk to each other normally. None of this awkwardness. It scared her sorta, how after just a few weeks this could happen to them.

"I know she'll be your happy ever after."
His head dropped down a moment as he smiled, Josslyn's face passing by his mind. He opened the mini fridge and grabbed two bottled waters, setting them on the bar. "Here's some water." He said softly, looking away as he unscrewed the top to his.
Taking a drink, he allowed his telepathy full acess to Amarie. Wondering if he could help her let go a little as well. No doubt she had Sai now, but that didn't mean she had fully let him go. Just like he hadn't fully let her go either.
He knew she's always have a piece of his heart, and that made him smile. Cause if that was true, then he had a piece of hers as well. "Amarie." He said softly. "It'll take time." He smiled gently. "It's not going to happen over night. Nor months.. Maybe years.. but eventually.. We will. We'll be friends."

"Thanks," she said with a small smile, taking the cap off the water bottle and taking a sip, before rolling the cap around absentmindedly on the counter. It was sort of like a coin--one side heads, one side tails. She had flipped a coin in a way... More than once in the past few weeks. She had flipped a coin that she would continue to see Sai even though she had Cain. Another coin, that she said yes to Sai's proposal just a week after his death. And when he had come back, she had not left Sai.
Did she make the right choices, though? Had she actually chose what was best? And what was best... was it right for her? It seemed like and endless, riddling torment that kept chasing itself in circles around her head.
She smiled at him and nodded. "We will be friends." At least, she hoped so. She didn't really doubt that she might do something to get him mad at her. She was good at doing that. She had more-than-upset Cain by accepting Sai's proposal so soon after his death.... she had upset Sai because he had thought she didn't much love him... she had Flow sort of mad at her because of all of that mess, too. And Emma wasn't thrilled with her, either....

"Thanks,"
He gave a nod, a soft smile on his face. He watched the cap to the water as she played with it, his mind wandering off into a distant place. Could they be friends? Was it even possible, considering what had happened? His brows furrowed as he took another drink, pondering it over.
"We will be friends."
He looked to her, a soft brow raised. Not in a questionable way, no. Simply saying he hoped so as well. He learned even with Empathy or Telepathy, Amarie was a hard person to read. He contemplated asking her why she kept herself so hidden, but decided against it.
"Oh yeah." He sighed, reaching into his pocket. Josslyn had mentioned something about Amarie losing the necklace he had given her. Truth be told, he took it. Felt she didn't deserve to have it when she had Sai. But he was wrong..
"Here." He said softly, holding it out to her. "I found this."

She looked at the neckalce for a second, before reaching out and sliding it from his fingers, her hand accidentally brushing his. She wondered, staring blankly at the necklace, if they could ever get past this awkwardness stage. They used to be so close, like best friends but better.. and now look at them! This wasn't how things were supposed to be.
But things probably weren't supposed to be like how they were before. She felt perfectly happy with Sai--she loved him lots, and anyway, she tought uneasily, she had had all the right to say yes to his proposal. Cain had.... died. She was still sort of shocked about that.
"Thanks," she said after a while, still staring down at the necklace.

He gave a nod, turning to face the bar in the stool. His hands clasped before him and his head tilted down slightly. "I know I shouldn't." he started, "But I have to know." His eyes stayed on his lap. Never moving, always still.
Slowly, his head turned to look at her. "Does he make you happy? Does he tell you he loves you every single day? And that your always on his mind? If he does," He paused. "Then I'm... happy for you." He said softly. "The moment all that stops.." He looked down. "You let me know." He turned, offering a soft smile. "And your welcome." He added with a soft nod.

She looked up as he spoke, curious. She promised herself to let him know almost anything he asked about--she didn't want to keep things from him. She would answer this question, even though 'he ought not to ask'. She stared softly at him, slightly shocked.
She took a moment to gather her thoughts, to figure out what she was going to say. "Yes, he does make me happy and all of that. I.. I do love him... and he loves me too. I'm sorry.. that... things turned out like this--really, I... am., but.... she paused, wondering if she ought to add something on to the end. "He's doing the best he's can. He's been through so much... And I can't see why you don't like him. He is a great guy--and... " She stopped, sighed, and pout her head in her hands. Why did this have to be so hard?
