"Okay, honey, okay."
Her breathing un-even, and sobs wrecking havoc on her body, she had no choice but to tell it how it was. "Ees no otay!" She cried, gripping at Chayya's shirt. "I.. I wans unca Sammy!" She wailed.
"Shhh, Ember," she murmured. Pressing her cheek against the girl's soft hair, she asked, "Where's Uncle Sammy, huh? I can take you to him, sweetie, but I need to know where he is."
Her red rimmed blue eyes, starred at Chayya a moment. "He-he-he... in-in da-da.. jail--h-house..." She managed to say through her crying. She then went back to burying her face into Chayya's neck and shoulder. She wanted Unca Sammy to say it was okay, and that everything would be okay.. Even if it wasn't...

"He-he-he... in-in da-da.. jail--h-house..."
The jailhouse? Something sparked the ends of Chayya's memory. Northridge! She had wandered into the correction center some months back. She could just remember meeting the owner of the property. And she was pretty sure his name was Samuel. Perfect. She had been there before which would make porting there that much easier.
She pressed a soft hand to Ember's head, stroking her hair back from her tear-streaked face. "All right, sweetie. Let's go see Uncle Sammy at the jailhouse." She held the little girl close, bracing her against her hip, and closed her eyes. Taking a deep breath, she centered herself, focused in on Northridge. Letting out the breath, she tapped into her powers.
The next second, they were in the jailhouse, on the catwalk. She remembered, somehow, that he had emerged from that door on her random visit. Holding the still-crying Ember, she moved quickly to the door, knocking three times. 'Please be here...' she pleaded to herself. Turning her attention back to the little girl, she ran a gentle finger down her cheek. "We're here, honey. Uncle Sammy's coming. It's all okay, now."

Truth be told, he was nearly asleep in the red velvet chair in his office. The sudden knocks on his door, made his heart jump as he sat forward quickly. Looking around, he rubbed at his eye a moment, and cleared his throat. Taking to his feet, he opened the door slowly.
His brows furrowed at the sight before him. "Can I he--Ember?" The girl turned her head to look at him, tears streaming down her face. "What.. What happened?" He asked, reaching out an arm to pat her back softly.

"All right, sweetie. Let's go see Uncle Sammy at the jailhouse."
Good. Yes. That's what she wanted. She wanted uncle sammy to take her into his big strong arms and hug her close and whisper in her ear, and tell her no matter what happened, everything would be okay. She whimpered softly as she clung onto Chayya. Her eyes closed, squeezing out more tears.
The moment she re-opened them, she was looking at Samuel. "What.. What happened?" Within a split second, she flung herself at him. Her arms wrapping around his neck as she sobbed into his shoulder. "Da... da... s..." She couldn't even talk as more tears came flowing out of her deep blue eyes.

"What...What happened?"
Before Chayya could reply, Ember flung herself at the man. "Whoa," Chayya breathed out, struggling to stay on her feet and keep the little girl steady. Once she was sure Ember was secure in Samuel's arms, she took a half-step back. She bit her lower lip as she watched the girl cry. Poor, poor thing...
"We were at the book store," she explained. "She was really scared and then this demon came, she wanted to take Ember. I tried to protect her but in the end Ember fell into a vision and then Omni took over her body and got the demon to leave." She reached over, stroking the little girl's hair softly. "Uhm... Omni said that she was one of the seals keeping Lucifer at bay." She stopped putting a hand to her forehead. Not everyone knew about that. She sighed and went on. "I don't know if you know what that means, but basically, what it comes down to..."
She halted and met Samuel's eyes. "Ember's in danger. She shouldn't be alone; it's not safe, not as long as Lucifer's trying to break out..." If he didn't know about the whole Heaven and Hell battle, she was going to sound ridiculous. She could only hope, if he wasn't aware, that he would believe her plea and keep Ember safe. Her eyes dropped to the little girl again.

The next thing he knew, she was flinging herself at him. Part of him wanted to laugh, but knew it wasn't the time for laughter. He held her close, rubbing her back softly. "Da... da... s..." His brows furrowed at her jumbled and breathless words. "Shh..."
"She was really scared and then this demon came, she wanted to take Ember. I tried to protect her but in the end Ember fell into a vision and then Omni took over her body and got the demon to leave."
Samuel continued to stand and stare at Chayya, his mind forming around her words. Omni.. Demon.. Protect. "Uhm... Omni said that she was one of the seals keeping Lucifer at bay." His brows furrowed as Ember's breathing slowly evened out. "Shhh... It's okay.. It's all going to be okay, Ember.. shh..." He soothed her.
"Ember's in danger. She shouldn't be alone; it's not safe, not as long as Lucifer's trying to break out..."
He nodded softly, though his mind was still racing and trying to figure out what was going on. Danger, that word rang out clear as day in his ears. His eyes slowly fell to the curly blonde girl that was now fast asleep in his arms. He dipped his head to the side, inviting her in as he laid Ember down softly on the couch.
"Omni..?" He asked, turning around and starring at Chayya. "I always knew there was something special about Ember.." He muttered softly, looking back to the girl.

She couldn't help but smile softly at Samuel's tender care of the little girl. She stepped in hesitantly as he lay Ember down. "I'll say," she agreed, watching the little girl's chest rise and fall. "She was really brave." Turning back to Samuel, she felt a little of the tenseness fall from her body. He obviously cared deeply for Ember, he would keep her safe.
"Is she.. Do you think she's gonna be all right?" she asked carefully, eyes tipping to look at the little girl again. She better be. Otherwise Shayya was going to track the demon down and hunt her like she had hunted her people. In the short time she had known her, Chayya had grown rather fond of the little girl.

"I'll say," she agreed, watching the little girl's chest rise and fall. "She was really brave."
Samuel offered a small smile as he sat down behind his desk. "Please, have a seat." He offered softly, his eyes darting to Ember as she slept soundly. "Ahh, yes. Ember's the definition of brave. What other six year old would be walking the streets of new york at this late hour?" He smirked.
"Is she.. Do you think she's gonna be all right?"
He leaned back in the chair, elbows on the arm rest, and his fingers gently pressing against each other as he thought about that. "I think she will. She's strong-willed. From the moment I set eyes on her, she's been this way. Doesn't know her parents, never.." He shook his head, his eyes settling on Ember. "Never once thought of what her life could be like with parents."

She sat dutifully, chewing on the inside of her cheek. "Thanks." She grinned as he spoke of Ember, nodding along. "I had thought of that. Lucky she's smart, too, and knew to duck into the bookstore when she did." Omni still probably would have helped her, but what if it wasn't soon enough? And Chayya was happy to have been there, to have helped somewhat. And she planned on at least keeping an eyes on her now.
"Good," Chayya said, feeling relieved. A grin found her face and she shook her head. "She loves her Uncle Sammy though. With someone like you looking out for her she probably never found the time to miss her parents." That might sound a little harsh, but Chayya knew it to be true. The memory of her parents had never gone away, but she needed them less and less as she got close to Tala.

--Dream--
She was lost, and it was so dark outside.. Shadows all around her, whispering things she really couldn't understand. Her body tensed as she starred around for Uncle Sammy, and Chayya. But they weren't there.. Where were they!?
Suddenly a hand emerged from the shadows and reached out for her. A loud scream escaped her lips as she was dragged into the darkness. She couldn't see anything! Something was scratching at her, and she cried out for anyone... anyone at all...
Her blue orbs sprung open and a loud scream left her lips as she jolted upright. She couldn't catch her breath.. She couldn't breathe!

"I had thought of that. Lucky she's smart, too, and knew to duck into the bookstore when she did."
He nodded. "Thankful that you were there to help her." He said softly, his eyes trailing to Ember as she squirmed on the couch. His brows furrowed as he watched her. "She loves her Uncle Sammy though. With someone like you looking out for her she probably never found the time to miss her parents."
A soft laugh escaped his lips. "Oh yes, I'm such a good uncle, I shipped her off to one of those schools to look out for her." He shook his head. "I should have kept her here.. But this is no place for a child.." He sighed.
Ember's scream nearly made him leap from his seat. He quickly took to his feet, and with one large step was at her side. "Breathe... breathe, Ember..." He rubbed at her back, trying to get her to stop freaking out. "Shh... you're safe... Look... Ember, look at me.."

Chayya looked away, shaking her head at his comment. She was flattered, of course, but she didn't have to admit it. At his own humbleness, she shook her head again, this time more fervently. "First thing she did was ask for you," Chayya reasoned. "That's gotta count for something." She glanced around, nodding her agreement. "Yeah, it's not the best for a kid."
Something was wrong. The vibe of the room shifted, was off. Just as she was turning to see if Ember was all right, the little girl let out a scream. She turned, nearly toppling her chair in the process of moving to her side. She let Samuel take the lead, just brushing her hand over Ember's arm and through her hair. 'Wish for peace,' she begged. Being a djinn, the hardest part wasn't granting wishes she didn't want to. It was not be able to grant wishes she desperately wanted to.

[got lazy lol]
Ember suddenly took in a deep breath, and screamed again. She went to mumbling things that weren't coherent at all. "Shh... you're safe... Look... Ember, look at me.." Her head turned, looking at him as she continued to scream at the top of her lungs. She grabbed at his shirt, and pulled and pushed at the material.
--
Sam grabbed at her upper arms and held her still, giving her a slight shake. "Ember. Look at me.. look at my eyes." He told her in a calm voice. Once she was starring at him and not tearing at his shirt, his gaze hardened on her. "You're fine.. Nothing is wrong with you... It was just a dream. Take a deep breath... and relax." His voice was soft, peaceful as he talked to her.
He wasn't one to glamor Ember, not at all. But there seemed no other way, as she continued to scream and claw at him. Suddenly, she shifted, and leaned against his chest. Her chest rising and falling in an even pattern again.

[[LOL np]]
As Ember raged on, Chayya chewed her cheek so bad it bled. Poor thing. She wished there was something she could do to help. As it was, though, Samuel seemed to have a handle on it. He spoke to her calmly but firmly, telling Ember that she was fine, that it was all dream.
When Ember complied immediately, falling docile, Chayya suspected something off. Then she began to feel herself relax a little at his words and she knew: he had glamoured her. That made sense. It worked, anyway. Watching the little girl, Chayya let out a slow sigh. She shook her head slightly and sifted her fingers through Ember's hair. "Poor thing," she murmured softly. "I take it she doesn't often has dreams like that?" she asked in a low tone.
She wondered if it was just another vision or if something more sinister was at work...

Ember starred at the couch, listening to her heart beat as she snuggled against her uncle sammy. She blinked a few times, before looking up at him. "Bad dweam." She murmured, closing her eyes a moment. But the image still remained in her mind. Her eyes shot back open and she clung to him, her eyes trailing to Chayya...
--
Samuel shook his head. "No.. nothing like that." He smiled softly down at her and nodded. "Yeah, was just a bad dream." He concurred softly. "It makes me think." He started off. "If she can have vivid visions, then suppose her dreams are visions too?"

[[it's all good ^^]]
Chayya offered what she hoped was a reassuring smile to Ember, keeping her fingers in her hair. She licked her lips thoughtfully. "Yeah," she agreed with his musings. "Could be some one trying to get to her," she suggested, hoping that wasn't true. How could Ember be kept safe if they could harm her through her own mind? "I mean, my visions are never that intense."
Except the ones that had been coming lately. The ones of just fire and darkness. Lots of fire and darkness. Those sent Chayya into full-body spasms and she couldn't breath afterward. But still it seemed to be nothing like Ember. Which figured; an ability was bound to differ from individual to individual.
A shudder ran over Chayya's spine and she let out a slow breath. Her danger sense hadn't relaxed yet. Her body was tense, alert. Waiting. She didn't think it was an isolated incident coming, though. Existence had just become dangerous, the whole world was unsafe. Fun.

"Yeah," she agreed with his musings. "Could be some one trying to get to her,"
He thought that over as Ember laid still, leaning against him. What was she thinking? Better yet, what got her so worked up in her dreams? He sighed softly, not knowing what to say for the first time. He'd lived a long time, and usually had an answer for everything. Except for this..
"I mean, my visions are never that intense."
"No one is quite like Ember." He replied, his head down as he continued to stare at the girl. "I've lived longer than most humans could ever fathom. Even from my experience.. no one's sure how many powers Ember truly holds.. or why she has so many visions." He paused a moment. "When I found her, she was in a facility, where they were doing all kinds of tests to determine how she got to be this way.."

Chayya took up chewing on her cheek again. "Poor angel," she hummed, fingers toying with Ember's hair. She couldn't imagine the horrors the little girl had gone through, didn't want to. Humans, especially scientists were often simultaneously fascinated and scared of mutants. Chayya had known of more "research centers" than she could count that preformed endless horrors on mutants, hoping to learn how they got their abilities.
"Lucky you found her, then," she murmured. Tala had been her guardian angel; seemed like Samuel was Ember's. "Got her out of there." She licked her lips, still studying the little girl. "Her limitless powers must be one of the reasons the Underworld wants her so badly. She could be valuable to them." Her mouth tightened and she felt sick. She was just a little girl. It would have to the baddest of the bad to be able to kill Ember. Only a demon would be able to go through with it...

Ember blinked several times, looking over at Chayya, and then to her unca sammy. She was a bit sleepy, but she didn't want to go to sleep. Too afraid to have another bad dream like the one before. But the yawn that came next, was a dead give away. "I sirsty." She squeaked out.
Rubbing at her eyes, she finally sat up, swinging her legs over the side of the couch. "Ees scary.." She started softly, looking at Chayya. "Da dawkness." She took in a deep breath and sighed, and a yawn followed suit.
"Deemans.. dey scary too." She added with a nod.

Chayya smiled to the little girl and quickly conjured up a glass of water for her. "Here you go, sweetie," she said softly, offering her the glass. She winced at Ember's next words, nodding.
"They are scary," she agreed. "But you were really brave. And now you've got Uncle Sammy to look out for you. And me too. And we're not gonna let any demons get you. All right?" She ended with a wide grin, reassuring the little girl.
