Ah, so many books and so many things to learn from them. It had been a surprise to Corona that she had honestly never stepped a foot inside of this place. But there was a first time for everything. Besides, since she was back with nothing to do, she thought she might as well bring Lyra here to pick out some books. Apparently, Shames thought she should spend some time with her now that she was back. Cor agreed of course, but truthfully, she missed Shames the more she was alive.
She wondered if he knew this. Corona figured he must still be getting used to the fact that she was alive. Either that or her death had made him hate her. She hoped it wasn't the latter. Cor just wanted things to be the same....or at least similar to what they were before. That was the reason while she still wore her ring; she missed her Shames.
Shaking her thoughts away, she took Lyra by the hand and lead her into the bookstore. "Here we are, Ly, the bookstore. Let's go find you a book, okay?" She said in her soft, motherly voice. Corona found herself being pulled to the child section almost immediately. Lyra was just plain excited. She had never been to this store before but she had always wanted to. Daddy had never taken her here. He had mostly only taken her to the toy store...or to get ice cream. Of course, toys and ice cream were two of her most favorite things but Lyra was sure she had room for one more favorite.
The second they walked in, Lyra clutched her kitty in one hand and her mother's hand in the other, then started towards a place with a shelf of books. Her eyes were locked on one with a big blue whale on the front. "Fishy!" She exclaimed as she picked up the book and handed it to her mother before scrambling over to one a cat on it. She handed that up to her mother as well.
But suddenly, a book with a yellow baby giraffe caught her eye. Giraffes were her favorite animal in the world. Ly raced over and picked up one, jumping up and down with glee. "Mommy its a Giraffe!" She exclaimed happily. She already was liking this store.

The sun should not be that bright. Ainslie's brows sunk further as she shielding her eyes from the bright rays. Stupid Josh. Sitting on her stupid sunglasses last night and breaking them. She had gotten drunk with all her brothers and sisters last night and she was paying for it today. Because she had to get up early to sneak out and buy Lewis his stupid birthday present. And she would have to sneak back in and hide it before he woke up, because they had all ended up crashing in her suite after the festivities. Stupid brothers and sisters. Yawning, Ainslie pulled the door to the bookstore open and immediately moved to the biography section. Catching sight of herself in the window as she went, she was actually impressed. All right so her hair wasn't stunning in its pulled-back-and-stuffed-under-a-hat state. But she looked pretty damn good for hung-over. Pleased with this, Ainslie mustered up a smile and browsed the books. Her brother was a president-phile. He especially loved the blood-bloods, probably because he related to them. Ainslie was looking for a Kennedy or a Roosevelt or something. Lingering over a huge tome on the entire Kennedy clan, she caught sight of a woman and a little girl in the children's section. Smiling at the cuteness of the scene, Ainslie realized she knew them, at least vaguely. Everyone in the mutant circle knew each other at least somewhat. "Corona?" she called softly, offering a smile.

"Oh, look at that. Good job, Lyra."Corona said with a smile, bending down to look at the book Lyra had found. Yep, it was a little giraffe for sure. She wondered why her daughter had taken a liking to giraffes. Maybe Shames had instigated it somehow. Things like this made her realized how much of her own little girl's life she had missed.
Suddenly, she heard her name being called. Cor flipped around to look and saw some red-headed woman nearing her. Of course, she had seen this woman once before. At least, she thought she had. She had been dead for some time which made it difficult for Corona to be sure if she was correct on things. "Oh. Hello." She finally said, returning a smile.
Lyra was feeling quite proud of her discovery. But then she too looked around. It was Ainslie. Lyra knew because her daddy had talked to her before. She grinned and clapped her hands before running right up to Ainslie and holding up the book. "Lookie Ainlee, I founds a Giraffe book!" She exclaimed, and then pointed to the Giraffe. "See? It has a wittle giraffe!" Lyra hugged the book, brown eyes twinkling happily.

"Oh. Hello."
Ainslie smiled pleasantly. "Ainslie Darling," she said. "I think we may've only met once before." She knew Shames, though, and Lyra, of course. Passing a brief smile and a wave to the little girl, she added to Corona. "I heard about your...situation. How are you adjusting?"
Back from the dead. Ainslie didn't know what she would in Corona's position. Missing all that time.... And the torture of being in hell... It made Ainslie shiver just to think about it.
"Lookie Ainlee, I founds a Giraffe book!" Ainslie laughed along with the little girl. Crouching down to be more level with her, she examined the book. "Wow, Lyra, what a good find! And I bet you're so smart that you can read this whole book all by yourself, huh?" "See? It has a wittle giraffe!"She smiled to the little girl and pointed to the giraffe. "Hey, yeah. Just like you for Halloween, huh?"

"Oh.....um, uh...adjusting?" She questioned and then it finally made sense. Corona cleared her throat and spoke. "OH! Adjusting. Well, I'm doing fine....really. It's nice to be back and out of that terrible place. Less pain, you know?" Cor chuckled a bit and then looked down. When she spoke again, it was more of a sigh, "I just wish that....Shames would be a little happier...I guess. I feel as if I offended him somehow by coming back."
She doubted that Ainslie would understand. But in Cor's mind, she was simply just answering the girl's question. She seemed a little saddened to hear Halloween. She had missed that too hadn't she? Corona swallowed hard and then tried to just grin and bear it.
Nodding her head quickly, she grinned. "Yessie Yes! Like Halwoween." She tried to pronounce it somewhat correctly. "But Mommy's gonna read it to me. Right Mommy?" Lyra stated, turning to her mom and turning her head to the side, waiting for a reply.

OH! Adjusting. Well, I'm doing fine....really. It's nice to be back and out of that terrible place. Less pain, you know?" Ainslie nodded sympathetically. "Right." She couldn't be empathetic, of course, which she usually was. But she had no clue what this woman had gone through. Didn't want to know. "Well, you look amazing, if it's any consolation," she added, with a bit of a wry grin. When in doubt, compliment a woman's looks.
"I just wish that....Shames would be a little happier...I guess. I feel as if I offended him somehow by coming back." Ainslie frowned a little at that. "Oh, right." She had forgotten. Evangeline and Shames... And now with Corona. Poor Shames. Poor Corona. Poor Evangeline... What a situation... "Well, I'm sure it's just as difficult for him. He thought he had lost you and was just getting used to that and then..." She trailed off, giving loose comforting. She didn't want to get into the issue too deeply; it wouldn't be very polite.
Ainslie smiled down at the girl, masking her jealousy. She wanted a daughter (or a son) so badly. "Well, that sounds like extra-special, super-duper fun." She grinned, chuckling .
