Laura held her hand out to Oliver. Laura had strung this part with white lights on either side, it almost looked like a landing strip. From up here you could see the city in the distance, with all its lights.
"Make sure you stay on the flat part okay Ollie? I'm right here, nothing will happen to you." Collete probably didn't even know that she had been cleaning up the roof the past month. Not that she'd ever notice. She's to busy with the twins.
"Laura..?" she heard her mother call. Laura sighed. Didn't take her long. She thought. Come on up, Mom. She pathed. Laura made Oli and her move a little farther toward chairs in the center of the roof. "Let's go sit down Ollie." Laura said.

'Come on up, Mom.'
She walked through the small hallway to the second door that led to the single flat piece of roof. Her eyes danced along the clean roof, and lights to Oliver and Laura at the chairs. She tilted her head slightly as she walked forward, taking a seat herself.
"When did you do this?" She asked lightly, her eyes trailing to the night sky, then to Oliver. She took off her coat, and wrapped it around his back to keep him warm. "Laura.." She sighed, her head down a moment. "I love you for cleaning the roof.. I do, it's just.." She was beginning to sound like her own mother.
"It's not safe up here for you and Oliver to play..."

Aunt Co-Lee's presence caught him by surprise, and he whipped around to look at her. No, no! He wanted to stay up here. It was hard to be brave enough to get up here, they couldn't make him come back down now. And he hoped she didn't tell his Daddy about this. He didn't want to have Daddy yell at him...
Making sure to stay on the flat part, Oliver smiled, jumping up and down with his arms in the air. "I on woof!" he cried happily, spinning around. "Whoa!" he gasped, losing his balance, shuffling on his feet a little.

Laura caught him before he fell. "Careful." Laura looked up at her mom and stared at her. Her face twisted in defiance. "While you've been spending all your time with Parker and Eliza, i've been working up here. Like it or not, i've been living in a world that's more dangerous then sitting on a roof all day, Mom." she said.
Laura looked down at Oliver and smiled. "I promised nothing would happen to you while you were up here with me, right Ollie?"

"I on woof!" he cried happily, spinning around. "Whoa!"
Her heart leaped into her throat, as she went to grab him. But it seemed her daughter had managed to get to him first. She let out a loud sigh, her hand over her heart. "Careful." Her eyes closed a moment as she tried to even out her heartbeat. "Oliver, please.. Don't do that. You'll give your aunt a heart attack."
"While you've been spending all your time with Parker and Eliza, I've been working up here. Like it or not, I've been living in a world that's more dangerous then sitting on a roof all day, Mom."
Colette's mouth went into a thin straight line as her hand fell to her lap. Her eyes glued on Laura, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. A world more dangerous than a roof? "I don't know what's gotten into you..." She started with a soft calm voice.
"But it better crawl right back to where it came from." She took to her feet, starring at her daughter with a scowl on her face. "And Yes, I have been busy with your brother and sister. But it's not my ffault I have to do this alone because your father's work is apparently more important." Her voice raised slightly.
"And you.. Laura.." She gritted her teeth as she walked over and picked up Oliver. "You're pushing your luck with me. I have far more to handle than you think, with Dean's death, and your father not being here, and running this school. I've had it up to here..." She raised her hand over her head. "With you and your attitude towards me. Don't forget that I am your mother, like it or not. And what I say goes in this house."
She paused, shaking her head. "That's it. You're grounded..." She turned around and headed back in, Oliver on her hip.

He let out a long sigh when Laura grabbed him. "I o-tay," he assured him with a smile, nodding to Co-Lee. "Sowwy," he muttered under his breath, taking a step more toward the center, rather than the side. He didn't want her to get angry. She already seemed kind of upset with him... Or, maybe Laura.
Dean...dead? Oliver's eye's bulged and filled with tears. Uckle Dee...he was dead? No! He couldn't be! He was there when Mo was born, he had to be alive. A low whine escaped from him as he started to burst into tears. He stomped a defiant foot and planted himself firmly. "NO!" he shrieked, hands in fists at his sides. "No yelling! No dead! No! NO!"
Even as Aunt Co-Lee picked him up, he shook his head. "No! Put me down, put me down!"

Grounded. Well that wasn't new. What she was worried about was Oliver trying to battle Colette. They looked unsteady. Laura's heart paced with nervousness.
She knew her mother could protect herself if they fell... but what about Oli? Laura was prepared if they did. Laura took a few calming breaths. They won't fall. she told herself, but the image kept popping into her head.

"NO!" 'No yelling! No dead! No! NO!'
Her heart was breaking, and the sudden realization that she had said something she wasn't suppose to infront of Oliver only hurt her more. "Oliver.." Her arms wrapped around him, as she leaned against part of the door. "I'm so sorry.. Aunt Co-lee is so..." Tears welled into her eyes as she clung tighter to him.
"No! Put me down, put me down!"
She would. Once they were safely inside, she would. 'They won't fall..' Her head turned, looking at a dazed Laura. "I'm not going to fall. Now come inside." She sniffed, as she opened the door with one hand and headed inside. Once in the hallway, she slowly fell to her knees with Oliver in her arms, planted him firmly on the carpeted floor.
The look on his face nearly broke her heart...

Oliver shook in his tears, hands unable to keep their fists anymore. He wanted to tear his face apart. How could Uckle Dee be dead? What...what was going on...? His vision blurred and he wanted to fall onto the ground and pound his fists and rip the carpet and get his Uncle back!!
"No, no," he wept, reaching up to Colette again, suddenly realizing he'd only been spitting words before, "no put down. Hold. Pease. Pease, hold." Because it seemed like no one else would.

Laura was so angry. She yelled and magnified it enough to destroy the roof to it's old state. those months of hard work, gone. She hated how her mother was acting toward her. Laura's hands were on fire, she just realized so she put them out then jumpped off the roof and ran at full speed down the block and back, then ran into her room.
She grabbed her ATs and put them on then jumpped out her window and went riding. Damn she was tired of the atitude her mother had ever since she gave birth to her brother and sister. They used to be two peas in a pod, now Laura just felt alone.
Soon she was in the city, just going wherever her legs took her.

"No, no," he wept, reaching up to Colette again, suddenly realizing he'd only been spitting words before, "no put down. Hold. Pease. Pease, hold."
She quickly scooped him back into her arms, her arm around him as one held softly to his head as she rocked back and forth. "I'm so sorry, Oliver.." She closed her eyes, tears sprouting gently. The idea of how to explain it to him, if he asked, popped into her head. Only to be pushed out at the sudden slam of doors, and a gush of wind.
Laura.. She was too tired... She was tired of having to do this alone. Where was her husband? Where was her help? Maybe it'd be best if I sent her to her grandmothers' for a week... She didn't want to do it, but it was the only possible solution she could think of.
She laid a kiss to Oliver's head as she slowly raised to her feet. Holding him tight, she walked down the hall to Laura's room, pushing the door open. Sure enough, she was gone. "Damn it." She muttered softly. Her eyes trailed around the room... no AT shoes.
What am I going to do with her?

His stomach lurched at the thought of never seeing Uckle Dee again. Who would tickle him? Who would play with him? Who would...just...be his uncle? He'd known Dean from the womb. How could he just...be gone? Oliver shook, clinging to Co-Lee's shirt, giving a long sigh. He didn't want to know how he died, or why, or where he was now. He just wanted him back.
Did Daddy and Mommy know?
Oliver picked up his head. "I...w-want...heem...b-back..." he stammered through his tears.

~Around 9:30 PM
Terry got on the phone and waited as it rang. When Colette picked up she sounded weary. What happened between those two? she asked herself.
"Hello Col, it's Terry. I have Laura here. She got here about a half an hour ago looking pretty upset. Did you two fight.... Uhuh... Well I gave her some hot chocolate and after she finnished drinking it she fell asleep, she looked pretty tired.... I think she was wearing out her ATs they're pretty messed up, I can barely touch them for the heat of the motors."
What was going on at that house?
"Vivi has been asleep for a while, I can only imagine how you feel... Yeah i'll bring her over in a few minutes, gotta finnish some designs... Okay, see you soon Colette." Terry hung up the phone and looked over at Laura. "I don't think it was right for me to lie about you Laura." Terry said pointedly.

Laura looked up at her wearily. "Just the same, can you take care of my ATs. I'll be coming back in about a month for them. Please don't tell my mom." Terry heaved a sigh then nodded an okay and grabbed her keys.
They went out to Terry's car and sat in silence for the long drive. This is turning out to be a crappy night. Laura thought. It was time to prove to her mother that she wasn't going to kill herself being dangerous, she got that from her father. "Terry can i borrow your cell phone?" Terry handed it to her. Laura thanked Terry then dialed her father's phone number.
"Dad... it's time you come home. Mom needs you... Yeah i'm.. alright but we got into a big fight and I kinda... ran away for a couple hours..." Laura flinched at his angry voice. Him trying to keep calm was worse then Colette's yelling. She siad goodbye and hung up just as they pulled into the drive way.

"Oh.." She sighed heavily and carried him into her room as she sat on the bed. "Honey, I know you do.. I want him back too.." She smiled softly down at him, wiping away his tears. "He's..." What could she say? He was in a better place? How did she know that? It wasn't like she had a direct link to the heavens so she could check their roster.
She heaved a sigh and held him close, rocking him back and forth until she felt his breath even. The ring of the phone made her jump, reaching over, she picked it up. "Hello?" She asked, obviously worn out from the day's events. "Yeah.. we had a fight, she left because she was grounded.." She rolled her eyes softly.
"Is Vera there? -- Okay, no. Don't wake her.. Could you just bring her home?" She asked softly, as a soft yawn escaped her. "Okay, thanks Terry." She hung up, laying back with Oliver still in her arms. "Hey.." She brushed his hair away, and kissed his forehead. She wanted to ask if he was okay, but second-guessed herself. Instead, she laid her head down and wrapped an arm around him.
"It'll be okay.."

((Vera, Kee? Didn't y'mean Laura? Lol.))
She knew? She did? Well, then, where was he? Why couldn't he come back...? Breaths evening out as much as they could given his distraught position, Oliver put his head against her chest, leaning into the warmth of her experienced arms. The way she held him told him that she knew what she was doing--Aunt Co-Lee gave really good hugs.
The kiss to his forehead came just before a yawn, and he snuggled closer, holding onto her shirt, his other set of fingers gently stroking the ends of her soft, pretty hair. Oliver nodded to her affirmations, though he didn't really know if things would be as okay as she said.

Before Laura got out of the car she was suddenly scared. Laura looked over at Terry and grabbed her arm. "Something is happening to me Terry..." Tears rolled down her cheeks, but she quickly wiped them away and got out of the car.
Time to face mother... I really should just climb into my room through my window... She thought, however she was to tired to climb, so her feet carried her to the door and through it.

As Oliver grabbed at her shirt, and stroked her hair, she laid another kiss to his forehead softly, running a hand through his golden locks as he yawned. "Aunt Co-Lee is really sorry, Ollie.." She whispered softly to him. "I was mad at Laura.. " She held him close.
Very quietly laying there, she barely heard the front door open. She didn't want to yell for Laura, not wanting Oliver more upset than he already was. A soft sigh escaped as she laid her head back down on the pillow and rubbed his back. "I wish I could say something more to you sweetie..." She murmured. "Something besides it's going to be okay.."
Cause no one knew how it was going to end up..

Even though he liked being held, Ollie sat up, looking down at his hands in his lap, and then started to dig into his pocket.
Guiltily, Oliver pulled a small, red plastic apple from his pocket. He'd accidentally taken it from Uckle Dee's office the last time he visited, and had forgotten to return it. Desperately hoping Dean hadn't died mad at him for taking it, he sheepishly handed it over to Colette.
"Dat Uckle D-Dee's," he gasped, still getting over his tears. "I no mean to take eet. E-eet was...ack...ack-ee-dent." Water started to flow steadily down his face again, though he made no other physical signs. He felt so bad for taking it...

Laura drug her feet up the stairs and went to her bedroom. She 'fell' onto the bed. She was so tired she could hardly sleep. Why is everything so hard? she asked herself. Because it wouldn't be fun otherwise.
