Sinead was walking around in the backyard of Biella. It was a really pretty bit of landscape. But, as it was fall (and quickly turning to winter) all of the beautiful plants and flowers were wilting away, shrinking and browning. It was horrible--because not even half of these plants would be around next year. They lived for a year... It was hard to imagine living for a year. Not being able to talk, not experiencing love, not having children of your own... But then again, if everyone lived for a year, things might be different. People might have evolved different. Maybe there would be no such things as mutants... Which Sinead rather thought she would be grateful for.
Her shoes made soft whispering sounds as they grazed the grass, still covered with dew. She walked over to one little flower, still with its color. She smiled at it, making a soft, petting motion with her hand. It grew slowly, sparkling slightly as she used one of her powers on it. It seemed to glow with pride as it grew, and then...
Right at its prime, it started to die, going brown, withering, and then it turned to a few seeds, which in turn started to grow. Somewhat distraught, Sinead stopped it when the flower got back to normal, and picked up a few of the discarded seeds the plant's cycle had left. She slipped them in her pocket--a nice garden in her room might be nice. It would be peaceful, at least.

Shaelynne didn't like the fall or winter. She was pretty meteortropic so cold and grey weather made a sad and gloomy Shaelynne. Honestly, she shouldn't have gone outside. That just made it worse. She should have stayed inside. Huddled in her room and with all the lights on and a happy chick-flick playing. That's what she should be doing. But instead, she was wandering the grounds of Biella. Rounding the building, she made from the front lawn to the back. Someone else's emotions hit her then. Not too hard; she was getting better at resisting. Before Shaelynne completely pushed the feelings away, she explored them a little. She was learning how to let her powers grow and she was loving it. Someone was sad too, but curiously so. Glancing around, she spotted one of the new students wandering through the garden. Shaelynne couldn't remember her name. Biting her lip, Shaelynne debated between experimenting with her telepathy and searching the girl's mind for her name and being normal and striking up a conversation. Eventually, she settled for the latter. "Hi," she called softly, still a few feet from the other girl.
