It was all set up. In retrospect, it was probably the best sleepover she never had. There was popcorn, chips, and about 16 hours of horror movie. Taegan sat on the couch in one of the many lounge type of rooms and curled up in one of her blankets. Everything her and Andrew needed was on the small coffee table in front of the couch. On the wall in front of the couch hung a big HD flat screen t.v., one that you could only dream of watching scary movies on. And that's exactly what they were going to do. Getting all comfy she waited for Andrew to return with the drinks he promised. "Andy...Hurry. The main menu is starting to creep me out." She giggled, and looked away from the creepy screen nervously. Freddy Kreuger was definently one of the scariest killers in all scary movies. Anything that could attack you in your dreams was evil. Even if she did learn this from a crazy guy who had dream manipulation and would stalk her, there was no difference. Your dreams were supposed to be your own, and no one elses. Speaking of dreams, ever since Taegan had found Andy again she had been having a lot of weird and completely innappropriate dreams lately. They were so vivid and so real, whenever she woke up in cold sweats she almost felt empty when he wasn't laying next to her. It was so different and it seemed wrong, and yet every part of her enjoyed those dreams to the fullest. It was when she was awake and something he did or said would remind her of the dream she would blush and try to change the subject so quick. It was making her act even more weird than normal and she was starting to guess that Andrew was picing up on something being wrong, because now he was starting to act weird. It was one big repetitive circle of best friends being awkward, and yet they were still able to have horror movie fests together wearing barely any clothes....Now that she thought about it. She looked down and shuddered pulling her robe about her tighter. Her dreams were going to have to stop...even if that meant never going to sleep again. She couldn't ruin the best friendship she had ever had over some stupid sex dream. There was no logic behind it at all. It was only a dream. Just as the thought crossed her mind she wished it didn't. After all the little cricket on Disney used to say "A dream is a wish the heart makes..." She shuddered once again praying Andy would walk in any minute so they could start the movie and her mind could stop running rampant. |

This was it. Wasn't it? He was sure he could do this. I will He re-affirmed himself. He'd slept only fvive hours last night, so he could practice infront of the mirror. Which, sounds silly. But this was Taegan we were talking about. HELLO! His best friend? What if she didn't feel the same? " No, don't scare yourself." He took in a deep breath as he grabbed two cups from the cabinet. " Everything will be just... fine. Just fine." He spoke, reassuringly as he filled the cups with ice. Opening the fridge, he grabbed the two liter of Dr. Pepper. "Andy...Hurry. The main menu is starting to creep me out."He chuckled softly, filled the two cups up. " Alright, I'm coming." He yelled back, grabbing the cups and walking back into the living room. As he entered, Freddy appeared on the screen and he laughed softly, seeing Taegan jump slightly. " We're watching this lights out. No backing out." He smirked, taking a seat next to her. As he set the cups down, he hit play, and reached for the popcorn. But instead, he felt warmth. Not popcorn warmth either. Looking down, he noticed his hand on Taegan's leg. He laughed nervously, pulling it away and grabbing the popcorn bowl. " Sorry..." |

"Alright, I'm coming."
Taegan sat there silently, waiting. It felt like forever though it had probably only been like two seconds. Freddy popped again making her jump just as Andrew came into the room. She looked up smiling as he walked over towards the couch. "We're watching this lights out. No backing out."
She furrowed her brows and pouted her lips. "You're evil." She giggled. "You want me to have nightmare!" She grabbed the decorum pillow and slapped his arm with it softly as he sat down next to her and sat the drinks down. Just as she leaned forward to grab her drink, he grabbed for the popcorn that was right next to her. Since her legs were now closer to the bowl as she reached for her glass his hand fell onto her leg.
Their eyes met for half a second but for Taegan if felt like about a minute. She let her eyes dart as she finally grabbed her glass. "Sorry..." She shook her head. "S'okay." Taking a sip of her drink she turned the only lamp in the room off. She sat her drink down and grabbed the remote. She slid under her blanket and looked over at him. "Wanna share my blankey its the only one down here?" Taegan asked before she looked at the screen and scrolled over to play. "Are you ready for the freddy fest?" She grinned and pressed play.
It was dark and the grim music began to play as the movie started. Taegan found herself shrinking down and scooting closer to Andrew. If she was watching this without light she was going to have something to hold on to. She got just close enough where her legs were touching his. That was close enough for now. She was sure when she jumped later that she would find herself alot closer.

"You're evil." She giggled. "You want me to have nightmare!"
He chuckled softly, getting comfortable beside her. But now there was an awkward silence lingering in the air the moment his hand left her leg. "S'okay." His eyes closed only for a moment, but in that moment, was a wave of relief.
"Wanna share my blankey its the only one down here?"
He smiled, taking another small handful of popcorn and throwing it into his mouth. "Uh, yeah sure we can share." He replied in a hushed tone as the eerie music got louder. As Taegan moved closer, he grabbed part of the blanket and pulled it over his legs.
"Are you ready for the freddy fest?"
He smirked, as the light on the tv light up Taegan's face. "Question is, are you?" He chuckled. "Yeah, totally ready." Andrew nodded. "Totally ready." He whispered softly to himself.

"Uh, yeah sure we can share."
Taegan didn't really give im a chance to answer because before he could speak that sentence she was already throwing the blanket over her lap wrapping most of it around her own body. As she scooted closer though it gave him more blanket to work with. Now they were barely an inch away from one another. Taegan could feel the heat of his body near his. She didn't know if she was comfortable being this close, but deep down she knew she liked it.
"Question is, are you?" He chuckled. "Yeah, totally ready."
Rolling her eyes she shook her head. "Probably not, but I can't back out now." She giggled as the movie let the ominous music fade to show 'Elm Street'. It was the beginning of a long scary night. Grabbing the bag of doritos she popped them open as quiet as she could. She munched on a few trying to ignore the fact that she was pretty sure she was louded than she thought she was. She kept sneaking glances to Andrew's face as he concentrated on the screen.
Just as she began to focus on the screen again she noticed that it was one of the first dream scenes in the movie. She clenched her teeth as the terrible things starting happening to the girl in her own dream. Just as Freddy slashed the girl not only killing her in her dream but in real life Taegan jumped finding herself buried into Andrew's chest. She squeaked feeling her heart beat out of her chest. She stayed there a moment her face on his bare chest.
Pulling back just a bit she looked up at Andrew's face. "Is it over yet?" She wasn't sure she would be able to make it through all eight movies. Feeling herself shudder a bit, she tried to convince herself that if Andrew was there nothing would happen to her. But then she remembered when they were younger and how she was always the one defending him. She shook the thought. Andrew was more grown now. Just as she thought that she felt his muscles in his stomach tense. She realized she was still clutching to hs chest so she pulled back looking away awkwardly.

He smiled, chewing on the popcorn as the music dimmed and the first dream began. Looking over, he watched as Taegan squirmed around, already getting freaked out by the ominous music and Freddy's fingers.
He was so fixated on her, he wasn't watching the movie, suddenly she leapt up and towards him. Her face against his chest, he could even feel her breath on his skin. "Is it over yet?" He chuckled softly, looking to the t.v. "Yeah, scene's over." He answered softly.
He could still feel her against him, and the sudden touch of her hand on his stomach made him tense up for a slight second. As Taegan moved away, he looked away biting at his lower lip. Should I say it now or...

"Yeah, scene's over."
It was as if she completely ignored his comment. She was clung to his chest, and the outline of it froze her in her place. This wasn't skinny little Andrew anymore. He had grown and so had she. She had stayed a moment befor pulling away and looking away from him awkwardly. She sat there a moment staring at everything but the screen.
It was silent as the story unfolded in the movie. It wasn't a scary part so there was no reason for her to jump, and still she sat there just as scared as ever. Why did it have to be this way? She had been in love with this boy since she was ten, but she had give up the thought of being with him because she would never want to ruin their friendship... but wasn't that exactly what was happening now.
Her dreams were causing her to see him in ways she really didn't need to see him in. She looked over at him and her eyes lingered on his face. She let out a little sigh and looked back at the screen. This was going to be a long...rough night.

The silence was nearly deafening.
But he could smell her. That coconut smell that lingered in those dark blonde curls. His heart thumped against his rib cage, and it literally hurt him to be this close to her. So close, yet so far away. He told himself as Taegan slowly pulled away.
Despite the scene unfolding on the television screen, his hazel eyes laid on the floor. Fearing she could read right through him. Swallowing roughly, he looked back at her right as she looked at him. A slow but subtle smile fell to his lips before he turned his attention back to the movie.
But, his mind raced and raced. How could he not tell her now? The timing was off, sure. But... Andrew felt as if he didn't tell her soon he was going to burst. Taking in a deep breath, he cleared his throat slightly, trying to get her attention. |

Taegan felt herself smiling as she glanced back to the screen. She watched as the plot was unfolding. Nothing too scary was happening, but one of the main girls was trying to force herself to stay awake. Good idea...like that was going to keep him out of your head. Shaking the thought she nearly sighed out loud oh how ironic movies could be.
Shoving her hand into the popcorn bowl she dug to the deepest part of the bowl. That's where all the butter was afterall. Just as she grabbed a big handful and was proceeding to bring it to her mouth she heard Andrew clear his throat. She stopped her hand and looked over at him. "What, you want some popcorn?" She laughed moving the bowl towards him and popping a kernel into her mouth and chewing. "All you had to do was ask, silly." She smirked at him letting her eyes linger on him a moment before looking back at the screen and popping more popcorn into her mouth.
For some reason the air in the room got more chilly. It was like the air was telling her something was going to happen. Not something bad, but not something expected either. Glancing sideways to Andy, she could tell by the look on his face that he was not clearing his throat for popcorn. She looked over at him concern written all over her face. "Are you okay Andy? She felt bad for missing the fact that her friend was upset. "Tell me what's on your mind."

"What, you want some popcorn?"
His mouth opened, and quickly closed.
"No," He finally said softly, but out of a nervous habit, he reached over and grabbed a handful anyway. "Thanks." He smiled softly. "All you had to do was ask, silly." He nodded lightly with a smile, hoping she would ignore everything and go back to watching the movie.
"Are you okay Andy?"
Crap. His heart bumped against his rib cage again, and he could feel the blood rushing in his ears. "Tell me what's on your mind." His heart raced as his eyes slowly looked towards her. Those grey-blue eyes smiled back at him, and his heart melted.
His brows furrowed, and he swallowed roughly. "It's--It's nothing. Nevermind." He chuckled before shoving more popcorn into his mouth. His eyes stayed focused on the movie for a good five minutes before he suddenly leaned forward and pushed pause on the dvd player.
Say something.

"It's--It's nothing. Nevermind."
Taegan raised a brow. "Andrew have I told you lately that I love you...." She paused laughing. "Even if you are a weirdo." She smirked and threw a piece of popcorn at him before fixing her eyes back on the t.v. screen. Why did they have to be acting so weird? All they had to do was look at the screen and be scared when there was something to be scared of. Not be scared of each other. It was ridiculous.
Sighing softly to herself she looked at the screen jusst watching the movement, but not really paying attention to anything that was actually happening. What had Andrew so nervous? They were best friends it wasn't supposed to be like this. They were supposed to be nervous around each other. No matter how much he made her heart flutter... they were friends. She would never risk it to hurt their friendship.
Before she knew it the dvd was paused and they were sitting in silence. She looked over at him; half annoyed at herself and half concered for what he was about to say. What if he said he was leaving again? What if he just plainly told her he didn't feel like they were friends anymore because of they she had been acting lately? What if -
"I just..."
She looked up her coaxing him to talk. Whatever he had to say she could handle it. Even if it was something that was going to change them forever. It would be okay, because she knew they would always be friends.

He chuckled softly as he starred down at the palm of his hands. Why was it, he was usually good with words, but when it came time to use those words, they up and disappear? He sighed softly, looking back at her as she starred at him.
He could only imagine what she was thinking.
"We need to talk. I just, I don't--" He turned towards her before getting comfortable on the couch again. "I don't know how to say this. I mean, you're my best friend, Taegan." |

Taegan looked surprised, but she turned towars him as he did. She felt her lips go dry, as his nerves began to seep into her. She took a large shaky breath as she listened to his words. "I mean just say it." She smiled. "Like you said, we are best friends. I can handle it." She felt her eyes falling to her hands. "I'm a big girl now."
As the silence continued her stomach began to do back flips. "I mean Andy, if this is about how I've been acting lately..." She shook her head laughing. "I mean it was just something stupid on my mind I'll get over it. I swear." She smirked. Now she was just nervous talking and she knew if he didn't stop her now, no one would be able to. |
