@~~><~~@ The woman she would never meet again kissed her forehead gently and set her down in the box.
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you. Live life to the fullest, and be good." She said with tears in her eyes. The woman struggled to get up. As soon as she had, she fell back down on her knees. Kivuli could hear sobs and a slight scraping noise as the woman pulled her body towards the water.
The woman was dying, dying of a broken heart that had been eating at her for nine months. She had only lived long enough to bear her child, and now she was only living long enough to pull herself into the water and become part of the world she had, for twenty three years, taken care of.
Kivuli heard no more from the strangely beautifull woman. A rumble began deep within her stomach, and, for the second time since leaving the protection of her mother's womb, cried. Soon a wind began blowing, like all winds do, and whipped fridgid air at the naked child. Where was that woman? Why wouldn't she feed her? Why was it so cold? And Kivuli screamed herself to sleep.
As the first hints of color began to appear in the sky, Kivuli woke with a jolt. She was still hungry, and still cold, and still wondering for the woman that seemed so safe. Again the screaming and the tears began. Would ANYONE feed her? Where were the arms that were soposed to comfort her? WHY WAS IT SO COLD?

Goodness! It was freezing today. It was times like this that he wished he had his jacket on. He didn't plan on reading in the park today, he was simply just passing through it. Rogue began to think of all the people at the meeting weeks before. There were so many people......and most of them were either with someone or married. It was funny how people were like that. He wasn't really up for the dating game right now. After all, he wanted to keep his secret. But then again, there was Emily....
Just as he began to think about her, he heard a faint cry. Was that? No. It couldn't be! He walked in the direction of the cries. After pushing his way through a small forest of trees, he saw a box. Rogue carefully inched near the box and peeked over it. His mouth just about dropped open. It was a small baby....a very young one. He couldn't believe his eyes. A small smile crossed his face and he pulled his vest off before carefully picking Kivuli up in it. "What is a little baby like you doing out here? Where's your mother?" He whispered softly to it.
Rogue looked around. The clearing was empty. All that was left was the small note. He read it eagerly and then stared down at the little girl. "Kivuli Rose.....nice name. Let's go find you a place to go." He stood, holding Kivuli in the vest in his arms. God, she was a beautiful little baby. He had always wanted a daughter. But...could he keep her? Certainly not! Rogue didn't think he was fit to take care of an infant. Besides, he wouldn't be able to hide her for long anyway.
Biting his lip, he decided to take her home....not keep her, just take her home for a while until he could figure out what to do. Rogue began his walk home from the park, holding the baby as close to him as he could.

@~~~><~~~@ Kivuli had not been crying very long before she was suddenly picked up out of the box. Some soft material was wrapped around her freezing body and blessed warmth enveloped her. Kivuli took a few more stuttering breaths before her cries became nothing more then whimpers.
This wasn't the woman who seemed so friendly, but this was a man who felt comfortable and warm. Would he give her food? She certainly hoped so... How much longer would she wait? Kivuli squirmed and her cry came back. Her eyes searched past and saw the tops of trees. What were trees? They looked so pretty and Kivuli only wanted one leaf...
She reached out her hand wanting to pluck a leaf from the trees and the tree seemed to bend down closer to her fingers, but her attention was quickly drawn to the person holding her. He seemed fuzzy. What was that growing on his chin? But now her hand was cold and she pulled her hand back in closer to herself.
Would she ever get that food? The trees and the sky quickly disappeared and Kivuli found herself drifting closer to sleep. She'd trust this person, he was warm and she had no care in the world what he was or how he became it.

He chuckled as the baby reached for the leaf. He used another hand to grab it for her but when he looked at her again, she was asleep. Rogue sighed. He wanted to keep this little girl. He wanted her to be Kivuli Rose Vitanni. But was he really fit to take care of her? Sighing as he crossed the street, he stared at the small market.
She needed clothes, food, diapers, and some toys, as well as a place to sleep. Without thinking, he went in, getting everything except the latter and then managed to carry the few groceries and the infant home. Rogue unlocked the apartment and slipped inside, locking the door behind him. He laid out a blanket upon the floor and placed Kivuli upon it. "Sleep little Kivuli, while I make you some food."
Rogue soon learned that preparing formula milk was not and easy task. "Bloody hell! Their are so many different instructions! Why....why does it have to be a certain temperature? Hmm..seems this will be harder then I though--bloody hell!" He muttered before spilling it all over the counter. God. He'd clean that up later. Sighing, he poured what he had managed to save into the small bottle.

@~~~><~~~@ Kivuli woke to alot of noise. She was bear again but now she was somewhat warm. Atleast... it wasn't terribly cold. She still wished for a little more heat, but it was the hunger that was really getting to her. Kivuli, however, wasn't sure she really wanted to cry again. It seemed like a perfectly reasonable idea to cry, but what was the use if she wasn't being fed.
Before she really decided to cry again, the fuzzy man was looking over her. Kivuli rubbed her eye and smacked her lips together. They were starting to become excesively dry. The fuzzy man sat down.
He tucked her softly against him. Something was pressed against her lips. It felt wet and warm, so Kivuli opened her mouth, leaned into it, and took a greedy gulp. She drank from the bottle her first meal. It was something to fill her belly and no matter what it tasted like, she didn't care.
This wet stuff was pretty good. Suddenly Kivuli hiccuped. Bubbles formed at the back of her throat and pushed out painfully. Kivuli stopped drinking and squirmed in pain. What was going on now? Why did it hurt?

"Wow...you're really hungry, aren't ya?" Rogue chuckled, holding the bottle there for her. He watched her until she hiccuped and stopped drinking. She looked slightly in pain. He glanced around and then at her. "What's....what's wrong, Kivu girl?" He asked her, but then remembered he would get no reply.
Rogue bit his lip nervously and held her up to him, his head tipped to the side. What's wrong with her? She looks unhappy. Perhaps it was the flavor.....it didn't smell too tasty in the first place. Bloody hell, Rogue! What are you getting yourself into!? Something suddenly hit him and he gently put her against his shoulder and patted her back gently. "I hope this works..."

@~~~><~~~@ Blessed relief. After the fuzzy man had lifted her to his shoulder and patted her back, she let out a little belch. That was all she needed. The painfull bubbles left her throat and once again she was hungry. Her stomach gave another rumble.
The room she was in was warmer now. Kivuli was wide awake and wished she could look around but her neck felt flimsey. She was starting to feel the hunger again. With one last burp she was placed in the man's arm again and the food giver was back in her mouth. Kivuli continued to suck greedily until there was no more left.
The painful bubbles came back. With every hiccup Kivuli squirmed a bit more. Hopefully fuzzy man would pat her back again. Why were these bubbles hurting so badly? Could the man get rid of them again? How long would it be until they were gone?

Of course, he then gently tapped the baby's back once more until he heard her burp. Then he sighed and gently placed her down upon the blanket. "There...all better." He then walked over to the bags of groceries he had bought for her before coming back to her. He stared down at the diaper and the small onesie with his head tipped to the side.
After about seven tries, he had managed to put the diaper on Kivuli. The onesie wasn't difficult to put on her and he got it on the first try. "We really are going to have to find you a home, little one." He sighed staring down at her.
