PERSONA:
Brooke is a really confident sort of person, as well as down to earth. She basically knows what she wants in life and she's hoping soon to know how to get what she wants. She has a very open mind and a very clear head, which makes it easy for her to understand most simple things. Brooke is also very opinionated. She will tell you what she's thinking at any given time, even if it contradicts whatever you're thinking. She likes the idea of everyone being entitled to their own opinion, and she expresses her opinion many times. Usually she has her mind made up, although she is open to new ideas, though usually she won't ever change what she thinks unless you can present a good argument to her.
While Brooke might not exactly be the smartest girl around in terms of book smarts, she isn't totally scant on brains when it comes to the streets. Because she practically chooses to live on them instead of with her mother, she knows all the shortcuts, and she will know the best place to dig up some good trash and stuff. While street smarts are her main forte, she does have a bit of a smart mouth. She's easily able to joke around, and she likes it when people can make a joke and take a joke well.
Brooke is pretty much a rebel. She's at that age where she really hates her mother, so she pretty much does everything she can to be the most horrible child ever. She drinks, makes friends with the wrong people, stuff like that. She's hoping maybe to get some tattoos or piercings, as well. She is a pretty rough and tough girl, though, it's just who she is. Although she might deny it, Brooke actually has plenty of goals and dreams that involve family and love and kids and pets. Although she has a tough, indifferent and distant look to her, she's really just a cuddly little puppy dog on the inside.

HISTORY:
Brooke was born when her mother was only seventeen. She was a remarkably loud and needy baby--enough so that it would seem to Rosie Rossi that her daughter's restlessness was a curse, God or whoever trying to get back at her for disobeying her parents and everything she'd been taught. But it was more for want of a father that Brooke was needy as a baby. Her mother didn't make enough money, didn't feed her well enough, wasn't fully able to take care of her baby daughter. Most of the work fell upon Brooke's vert unhappy grandparents--although, of course, they did come to at least tolerate, if not care for, the darling little child.
Brooke grew up rather lonely. Once Brooke was in her toddler years and did not need as much attention from her mother, Rosie got a job in an attempt to support herself and her young daughter. Brooke did not have the extensive care and love that she would have received had she had two parents, instead of half of one. Because, you see, Rosie was growing to dislike the idea of a baby. They were too messy, too loud, too disgusting. Why had her ex-boyfriend ever convinced her to keep the thing? Yet Rosie, at least slightly full of compassion, tolerated the child for the next few years. Brooke was still a bit neglected though--she had no fun toys to play with, no real friends, and she obviously wasn't shown as much love ad she could have and should have been.
Brooke soon grew into an older child. She was expected to go to school. On the morning of the first day, five year old Brooke climbed into her mothers bed, nervous. She snuggled up to her mother, and really looked at her. In a way that no normal five year old should. And she saw somthing. She asked her mother who that tall, dark man was. At first, Rosie had no idea what her daughter was talking about. Her daughter soon clarified it. "That man, Momma, in your head. You're with him. But where am I?" Brooke looked ever so serious. Rosie was slightly scared. What sort of power did her daughter have? Instead of answering the question, Rosie enrolled her daughter at a mutant school as soon as possible.
When Brooke was twelve, however, she got another look into her mother's memories. She saw the man. And she asked again--intent on receiving an answer; she wanted an answer that was the truth. Her mother told her. Everything. And Brooke was so ashamed of her mother and so angry that her mother had Nebraska even told her, that she discovered her pyrokinesis right then an there. Her mother still has the burn on her arm, in the vague shape of a hand. Ever since then, Rosie made sure that her daughter was safe and everything--she was determined that her daughter was not going to turn out as she had.
Rosie began to enjoy disobeying her mother. She did horrible things, and soon the streets became more of a home to her than anything. She shared beds with local tramps some nights. She stayed out with 'friends', and stayed drunk all night. Her mother was upset. All she wanted for her daughter was a good life. [/color]
