There was a sleeping beagle in the library. He had gone unnoticed for perhaps three hours now, tucked away in the biography shelf between Cher and Ray Charles, so there was really no wonder why he hadn't been found. His head was hanging over the side in a lazy, deep slumber, collar bearing his name with a convenient "Location: Cloud Nine" underneath for good measure, in case he was found. He'd been hanging around here frequently as of late, mostly for the energy circulating constantly. The children in the aisles, building towers out of books from the bottom shelves as their mothers browsed the ranks of the dead. The elderly in their knitting classes. The young people coming to research or study. The occasional demon trying to cause chaos, but he usually sent them away with ease.
Today was unnaturally mellow. Many sections were barren and less than entirely fruitful, even the ones that usually had at least one or two semi-interested folks, even though they always left early, realizing that their intrigues were less than fascinating. Jadon's leg twitched and he jerked a bit in his sleep, turning onto his other side, mouth craning open in a yawn.
A happily lazy day.

Shekinah wasn't really sure what had drawn her to the library. She hadn't really had the time to read lately but she was never a big reader to begin with. She had too much to do in the real world, honestly. She had always liked books; loved them. Escaping to a magical world where things always worked out and the balance was never disturbed... But she just didn't have the time for it lately. And furthermore, she was getting her own pretty story-book ending. Dominic, no demons, great life, great friends.... Speaking of great friends, she hadn't seen Jadon lately. She missed that dude... But that was a thought for another time. Entering the somewhat sacred building, Shekinah headed aimlessly through the rows. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going in the slightest when she tripped over something. Looking down, she gasped when she realized it was a little puppy. "Oh my goodness." She crouched down, petting the velvety head. "Oh, honesly. I'm so sorry. What are you doing here, anyway?" Flipping over his tag, she smirked a little. "'Cloud nine,' huh?"

Okay. Ow. Something definitely kicked him. In his dreamland, he glanced around to try to find the culprit and give him a piece of his mind, but it was blank. No, it was...clearer. The picture was vivid and the sound was solid, and, oh, wait. He'd woken up. Something had kicked him, and he was staring at it right now. Or, rather, her. With a tremulous, questioning whimper, he shook his head to relieve any grogginess, looking up at her and liking his chaps to get the stale taste out of his mouth. Kinah!
This would be fun. If only she hadn't looked at his collar. Jumping to his feet, he barked softly, jumping from the shelf and circling her ankles. He'd missed this girl way too much. And although it was strange having to show affection on all fours, he kind of liked it. It was less subtle, but wasn't vulgar.

She knew it was him, of course. She could sense it. What with the balance and her and him and everything... She grinned happily and giggled a little. "I was just thinking about you," she confided, trying her hardest to keep her voice down. They were in a library after all. "I've missed you a lot lately. You better have missed me too!" She waggled a warning finger at him, chuckling.
Rising back to stand up straight, she passed him a tolerating grin. "Can you get to your two-legged form? I feel like an idiot standing here talking to a puppy." Not to mention if anyone happened to walk by they would see her and be both very, very curious and very, very concerned. Plus she kind of wanted to give him a hug and not have to deal with fur and doggy-kisses.

That was no fun, she always did that. Sometimes it was better to be a dog. Not have to worry about giving so much away with the face and whatnot. Even with Kinah's telepathy it'd be different. Giving a sigh, he stopped wagging his tail, sitting down and shaking his head defiantly, just to see what she would do. Plus, the idea of people walking by and giving her looks was amusing. He wanted to see it in action. He barked again, asking if she wanted to see something. Without permission, he shifted again, this time into the form he was in when he was maybe five years old.
"Tada!" he exclaimed, before shifting back to himself, sitting on the floor with his legs outstretched, leaning back on his arms with a satisfied grin on his face.
"You're no fun, y'know that?"

He shifted, but to...not himself. Well, not really. Him, but about twenty years ago. Shekinah let out a happy little yelp, clapping her hands together. Someone off to the side shushed her, the noise echosing throughout the spacious area. Shekinah blushed, covering her mouth with her hands to restrain any further giggles. "You're so cute!"
But then he was back to his regular old self again. And Shekinah was still happy to see him. "Hi!" she whisper-shouted. Jumping him into a hug, her eyes closed with a wide smile. Still pressed against him, she asked. "You were so cute. What happened?" Pulling from him, she sent him a playful smirk.
"So where have you been lately?" she asked, threading a hand through her hair. "What've you been up to? I feel like I haven't seen you in forever." Laughing softly, she gave his arm an affectionate squeeze.
