Please.. let me try.Don't forget - Carrie UnderwoodTags: I'd really like Emma/Ollie or the entire Lawrence family to reply. She was sitting in the open field, eyes set on the heavens. She'd been down here so long--she had a hard time remembering what peace felt like up there. But she couldn't leave, not with everything the way it was. Colleen had found her, and had a long conversation about Oliver, and the Lawrence clan.
Needless to say; she was guilt ridden. She never meant to break Ollie's heart--never meant to hurt him at all. It'd been such a long time since she laid eyes on him--or watched him while he slept. She really wished she hadn't of revealed herself that day--so long ago. But, honestly, she had no choice. It was either keep up her appearance as a house pet--or let an innocent woman die.
She would never be able to live with herself if she had stayed in her canine form--and let Harmony die. That would have destroyed Dean, and everyone who loved him. "I did the right thing." She whispered to herself, picking up a white daisy from the grass, and giving in a sniff.
She wondered then; who was she trying to convince? She sighed, leaning back slowly so she could lay in the green grass. "I wish I could speak to him; try to explain."

Even after all this time had passed, she thought about it--her. How she felt tricked, and yet saved. It wasn't Luna's fault that she had to go under the masquerade of a dog. She'd been helping them in their dire time of need, and... Who could argue with that? Didn't mean she missed her ankle-circling companion any less, but she knew she hadn't been real. She'd been talking to someone who understood her the entire time. She'd probably been thinking how stupid she sounded, how humans couldn't compare to angels. No, damn it. She had to stop thinking like that. It probably wasn't that way at all. With Oliver steadily by her side, they wandered in the park, needing something to do after being cooped up after so many days of rain. He skipped happily alongside her, completely oblivious. Well she couldn't expect him to dwell on things forever if they weren't in the forefront of his mind. That was what she adored about children. Never held grudges, always full of life, they wanted to love you. Emma laughed at his little dance. "Having fun, baby boy?"

Mm, she loved summer. The sun shining down, everything was in full bloom. People all around, enjoying the day. Everything was just so beautiful here in the park. Hearing children laughing and playing over at the playground.
A smile came to her face as she sat up slowly. She looked around, enjoying the scene. "Mommy, I want a doggie!"--"Daddy says I'm his little girl." She loved kids, they were the only thing in this world that was pure innocence.
"Having fun, baby boy?"
Her head whipped towards the direction of the voice. "Emma?" She whispered, straining to hear more. She took to her feet, walking slowly towards the area it originated from.

Without missing a single step, Oliver nodded to the query, a smile dazzling his face. He liked it outside. It was warm and nice and there was a good breeze most of the time. He got to wear shorts and sneakers and play all day long. He snickered to himself as he scooped down, ripping some grass out of the ground.
"Boo!" he shouted, throwing the blades at his little sister, who was on the opposite side of Mommy. "Gotchu! Silly Mo! Joo got grass in yo hair!"
Maura, momentarily indignant, returned the favor, this time making sure it stuck to his head by rubbing her hands all over his hair. "Oh yeah?" she countered, a beaming grin covering whatever ire she'd felt before. "Well joo sillier than me! 'Cause joo got grass all over!"
Sitting down, knowing this could go on for a while--so long as no one got hurt--Emma sighed, leaning back on her hands, chuckling as she watched her children bicker. "Guys, if you can't play nice you can't play together."

"Gotchu! Silly Mo! Joo got grass in yo hair!"
She stood a few feet away, a hand over her heart as she smiled at the sight. He was getting so big.. "Well joo sillier than me! 'Cause joo got grass all over!" And Maura.. She was as cute as a button.
"Guys, if you can't play nice you can't play together."
She swallowed roughly, forcing herself to take slow steps forward. Within ear shot, she cleared her throat. "Emma?" She called softly. As she drew closer, she smiled sodtly at all of them. "I--I was hoping we could... talk."

Another voice cut in and said her name. Or, at least, that was what she gathered. There were a lot of people here--how could she assume it was her name she heard? Or her who they wanted? Picking up her head, just to be safe, she caught sight of a vaguely familiar young woman. Her honey skin reminded her of... Oh, shit.
Scrambling to her feet, she put her hands on the tops of her kids' heads, and like magic, they stopped fighting. She loved having empathy.
There was a certain glossy vacancy of her gaze, but one that was also riddled with trouble. "Yeah, of course," she answered quietly. Oliver picked up his head, jerking it away from Mommy's hand, to glance up at the lady who she was talking to. She looked kind of like someone he'd seen before, but he couldn't put his finger on it.
Wait. It couldn't be... Loo-loo?
He slunk closer to Mommy until he hit against her thigh, clinging to it.

"Yeah, of course,"
She bit her lower lip, watching as Olliver shrunk closer into Emma, clinging to her leg. She had really done a number on him, hadn't she? She could feel that ting of pain in the pit of her stomach. She wanted to make this right, she would. She had too.
"Alone, possibly?" She asked, clasping her hands loosely infront of her. Her head bowed a bit, ashamed of having to ask that. It wasn't fair to the kids, really. Having to go play just so they could talk about this.

Alone? Quite a lot to ask of a mother living in New York, wasn't it? Her eyes grazed the surroundings before she bent down to speak to her kids, asking them quietly if they could please go over and play by the swingset with the other kids. It was far enough away so their conversation would be private, but close enough so she could still keep an eye on them. And hey, she had an angel with her. She figured the odds were in her favor. If anything happened to them, Luna could intercede...right?
They scampered off, Oliver a little more apprehensive about leaving than Maura, who eventually tugged at his arm so much that he had to concede. Lifting her head, Emma met eyes with Luna, waiting.

Luna sucked her lips in, head still bowed, rocking back and forth slowly as she waited. Her eyes met where Emma's was going--to the swings. It was not a far distance away, and if anything did happen; Luna would be there in a blink of an eye.
Her gaze softened, lowering to Oliver as he hesitantly walked away. Her heart hurt so much; she was what Arch-angels would call a surrender. An angel who was succumbing to her environment; the beginning stages most believed would lead to falling from grace.
Once the kids were far enough away to hear, she finally met eyes with Emma--the person who took care of her. Who trusted her, but she broke that trust. And yet, she said yes to this meeting. She took in a breath, shakily letting it go.
"I'm sorry." She said softly, her eyes slowly filling with tears. "I never meant to hurt anyone." She told, shaking her head softly. "Especially not Oliver, or you. But it's my job to protect any innocent in trouble. If I didn't heal Harmony--" She haltered, shaking her head.

Was she crying? Angels cried? Wasn't there angelic lives supposed to be filled with eternal grace, peace, and levity? Brows pulling together, she looked over the form before her, as if this made no sense. "No, no," she cut her off, hands flying up as if to stop her, "don't worry about it. You did what you had to do. It was what you were supposed to do, anyway, right? You came down so you could someday expose yourself and help...everybody. It was selfish of me to think you were just ours after hell broke loose. You don't belong with the Lawrences, do you." Words tainted and slapped with hurt, though she'd tried to not let it break through, Emma swallowed dryly, wishing she'd said nothing.
"If Harmony had died, everyone would be broken. Better to spare many people than just," her eyes dragged to Oliver, "one."
((rawr, sorry, S&S))

She'd never felt like this before; maybe in her human life, so long ago. But since being an angel; never. This... pain. It felt like a knife in her chest, and it was twisting and twirling around, cutting deeper with each word.
"If Harmony had died, everyone would be broken. Better to spare many people than just," her eyes dragged to Oliver, "one."
One hand lifted, pushing some hair behind her ear, her head turning slightly, looking to Oliver. She closed her eyes, sighing softly. "You are participially right." She offered softly. "I was put here to look after--your family." Her eyes were evasive.
"It was my purpose, to come down and help your family, and those around you. But.. your family was my top priority. I was never suppose to break my cover--in doing that; I broke one of Heaven's rule." She paused, finally looking at Emma.
"But because of the circumstances; I wasn't.. punished. Though.." She sighed out slowly. "I fell like I should have been.."
She shook her head softly. "I did." She concurred, locking eyes with Emma. "In all purposes, belonged to the Lawrence family."

"But why us?" she demanded, her tone dripping with the remnants of desperation. "Why our family? Were we in some sort of danger? Were we just an unstable family?" She had to know. This couldn't be put past the blinders; put behind her. For once, she was letting her heart take her where she needed to go, where she wanted to go--not her head.
It had been a rule? Biting her lip, she wished there could have been something to prevent that. Now Luna couldn't ever come back to them, right? Unlocking the gates that had been chaining in her breath, she sighed audibly. "You shouldn't be punished for doing the right thing. I think God of all people understands that," she chuckled lowly under her breath, a shaky hand going to Luna's arm. Was she allowed to touch an angel?
"Well," she murmured, saddened, "it's a little late now, isn't it?"
Then she snort-laughed, shaking her head. "How ridiculous did I sound talking to you that entire time?"

She shook her head quickly. "No." She stated firmly. "I can't.. it's hard to explain. No one's sure why a familiar gets the charges they get. Good deeds being paid off? I don't.." She sighed, head bowing again. She watched as Emma reached out to her--she missed that. Being close to that family, she felt one with them.
"Well," she murmured, saddened, "it's a little late now, isn't it?"
She shook her head. "No." She said softly. "If it was, I would not be here." She said simply, her eyes casting to the sky, informing Emma she'd be in Heaven. "It was my choice, and I chose to stay.."
She licked her lips, making herself say it. "...and hopefully work through this.. That's why I wanted to talk to you.."

Her hand slipped down Luna's arm under her fingers held hers, trying to smile for her. That dog she'd been cuddling with this entire time was a woman who she was right now trying to comfort from distress. It was just getting stranger. She'd kissed the top of this woman's "head," now she wouldn't dare. What made the connection so different?
Her brows furrowed at Luna's opposition. "Why?" she breathed out. "Why did you stay here? Don't angels...want to be angels?" Eternal paradise? That sounded just about right for Emma. Why were angels so against it? Swallowing, she shook her head as she thought of her own mortality. She'd die one day and she'd get to know the feeling...
Oh, God...
"What do you mean 'work through this'?" she pressed firmly.

She looked down at their hands; combined. It did, it brought her comfort. But it wasn't the same as it was then, was it? She figured, it'd probably never be as good as it once was. But she still loved this family, and wanted to be there. Not just to watch over; but to love.
"Why?" she breathed out. "Why did you stay here? Don't angels...want to be angels?"
Luna smiled, a soft laugh escaping her. "Some." She answered softly. "Others.. grow tired, feel.. disconnected from.. everything?" She smiled sheepishly, a soft shrug escaping her. "Even Angels crave attention, love.. comfort."
"What do you mean 'work through this'?"
She licked her lips, looking down once more. "I don't... want to return. I want to stay here." She paused, looking up to Emma. "With the Lawrence family." She smiled softly. "But I fear.. that.. some of the family doesn't wish to have me..?" She announced with a shamed look. She was speaking straight from her heart..

She couldn't help it anymore. Unable to keep herself back, Emma moved herself to Luna after hearing those soft, docile words come flowing like an easy breath out of her mouth, wrapping her arms around her and holding her tight. Of course she needed love. She hadn't been subtle about it as a puppy, and that certainly wasn't going to change. Everyone needed affection, even if it came in few and far between occurences.
The angel spoke again and Emma retreated some. "What do you mean?" Who wouldn't want her? How? "My only concern is...well, the whole shape-shifting business. It'll be kind of strange knowing you can understand everything. You won't be just a pet, 'cause, let's face it, you're not." Letting go of a scoff that brought with it some relieving levity, she smiled lamely for Luna.

She rested her cheek on Emma's shoulder, eyes set to Oliver as she hugged Emma back. "What do you mean?" She let go slowly. "Ollie.." She said softly, eyes on the ground. "I feel I should---try to explain..?" She smiled lightly, but it soon faded into a sigh. "As much as I can, atleast." She added quickly.
"My only concern is...well, the whole shape-shifting business. It'll be kind of strange knowing you can understand everything. You won't be just a pet, 'cause, let's face it, you're not."
She smiled, a soft laugh escaping her lips. "You need not worry, Emma." She said in that soft voice. "I will be open; to those you trust most. Like yourself, Cian, and the kids; and whoever else you deem worthy." She nodded. "But.." Her eyes drifted back to Oliver.
"I think I should start with a fresh form--" She paused, "One.. perhaps Oliver could pick?"

That was an odd combination she was willing to give a go. Be two different forms just to stay on earth? Or maybe Emma wasn't understanding correctly. A look of worry crossed her face anyway, despite Luna's advice. She couldn't help but think of the mental stability of her kids. How would they adapt to knowing Luna was still around, whether she was in an animal or human form? Maura, being so young, probably wouldn't be as effected as Oliver, who took to heart the transformation Luna had undergone right before his eyes.
"I don't know," she whispered, more to herself than anything. "That's something you'd have to ask him, really. I'm not sure what would settle well with him. Don't you think, though," she added, finding a strenght in her voice, "it would be confusing to him? I wouldn't feel right pretending you were just an animal around him, but then...you'd be...you...around me."

She waved her hands, shaking here head. "No, you miss understand." She said softly. "I would be human--to your entire family. But when out in the world, I must be seen as an animal. I know.. humans have the ability to do this as well, shift--as you say. So I don't believe he'd be confused."
She took Emma's hand into hers. "Do you.. understand?" She asked gently, brows furrowed. "I would.." She paused. "Like to discuss it all with him. Because, I feel.. that he should decide.... Whether I can stay."

Oh, so she had gotten it wrong. Lifting her chin in realization, she fell into a few nods. "Got it," she chuckled, brushing bits of hair out of her face. That could work. But someone else in their house? Would she need to eat; sleep? And what about the baby (or even babies) she and Cian still wanted to have? A short-lived sigh escaped her. All of that could wait. When someone came along who was in need, the right thing to do was to help them. And that was what Luna needed.
"Yes, I understand," she allowed with a loose grin. It vanished with talk of Oliver, and she let her head dip into one nod before sending Oliver emotions that called him to her. Maura, not wanting to be left alone, followed closely behind.
Coming down to his level, Emma spoke softly, "Baby?" His eyes were planted on her. "Luna would like to talk with you. Is that okay?"
Though apprehensive, and exchanging a glance between Luna and his mother, Oliver nodded.
