He thought about grumbling something under his breath, but he knew how Daddy didn't like that, so he thought maybe Kitty would relay some of this to Mommy and Daddy and he didn't like that idea so he kept it to himself. How could he believe what she was saying when she totally understood him, that day at Coney Island? It didn't make any sense. Everyone liked Mo, even when she was tiny, and they sort of played with her. Oh well, Kitty wasn't his Mommy and he hoped he would get over it.
Her voice drew his attention but he really wanted to get back on his books and forget the whole thing. Pulling away from her touch slightly, he matted his hair down to fix it. "Yeah. Okay," he said fluently, finally able to articulate a little, though it was blotched by the shakiness of oncoming tears. He didn't want to cry anymore, really, he didn't. But it was happening so fast and everyone was happy and he just didn't see the big deal about it all. It was just a baby, sheesh!
"I fink I'm firsty," he informed her, climbing down from the couch to congregate in the kitchen with Rye Toast. Upon arrival, he clung onto his leg and said, "Rye Toast? I can has milk, pease?"

"Rye Toast? I can has milk, pease?"
Ry smiled, looking down between his legs where Oliver was clinging to. "Of course, buddy." he said softly, leaning down and picking him up. "You sure you want milk? We got some kool-aid, and tea? Even got some pop.." he smirked. "I won't tell if you won't tell." He said in a sing-song voice, bouncing him on his hip.
He opened the fridge and grabbed the container of Ice tea while Oliver decided. "I think me and kitty are gonna have some tea." he nodded. Didn't want to talk about what he was feeling, cause he knew it had to be hard on the kid.
Wasn't like he liked talking about his feelings much either. He sat Oliver down on the counter, reaching up into the cabinet for some glasses. "So.." He sighed out. "Are you mad?" He asked, looking to Ollie. "Or just upset?"

Oliver seemed to let it roll off his shoulders, but Essence could tell he was still upset. She frowned briefly and tried to think of how else she could comfort him. 'He's just young,' she tried to convince herself. 'He'll get it when he's a little older.' But she couldn't believe that. Not really.
"Ollie," she called softly as he moved off to the kitchen. But he just kept going and Essence could only sigh. Once he had disappeared into the kitchen, she shook her head. "Oh, he hates me," she breathed out dejectedly. Sinking against the back of the the couch, she slouched down and waited for her two boys to return.

No, milk sounded good. It always made him feel better and not like his tummy was all gurgling. He didn't like that feeling and milk made it go away. Straining a smile at the little tune, he shook his head, holding his arms around Rye's neck. "No, juss plain ole milk," he remarked, pushing himself more securely on the counter as he was placed down.
Rye Toast started asking him things then and he paid more attention. "No," he blurted out angrily, which very much contradicted his answer. He started to mumble defiantly to himself, "Everyone always finks I'm angry, but I'm not, so there, an' juss 'cause I wann some milk does not mean dat I am angry, okay? Okay. Dat's dat." Heaving a final breath, ending his juvenile tirade, he looked back up at Rye Toast.
"I dunn yike babies too much," he told him confidently. "I fink they're very a lot meanies."

"No, juss plain ole milk,"
He smiled, reaching back into the fridge for the milk. "Milk it is, dude." He said softly, filling up a plastic cup for him. "There ya go, little man." He smirked, handint eh cup to him.
"No,"
Well, that wasn't very convincing, was it? "Everyone always finks I'm angry, but I'm not, so there, an' juss 'cause I wann some milk does not mean dat I am angry, okay? Okay. Dat's dat." He took in a breath, nodding slowly as he leaned on the counter beside Oliver. "That's fine." He said softly. "Y'know it's okay to be angry, right? I get angry sometimes. And so does Kitty."
"I dunn yike babies too much," he told him confidently. "I fink they're very a lot meanies."
He couldn't help it, he had to laugh at that. He shook his head lightly, smiling. "They're meanies huh?" He gave a nod. "I can see how you might think that." he reasoned. "But there's one difference here, then with your sis." he pointed out.
"See, you live with Mo. She's your lil sis, y'know? But this will be much different, Ollie. This baby isn't going to be like Mo, stealing all the attention, all the time. Cause when your here, it's Ollie-time. Not, baby-time. You get what I'm saying?"

"Yum," he hummed gleefully, rejoicing as he accepted the cup with fluttering feet. He held it in two hands, just like he was s'posed to so it wouldn't drop all over the floor. Lifting it tentatively to his lips, he chugged down a few sips before looking back up and proudly showing Rye Toast his milk mustache, both teeth and eyes glistening in the smile. The funny feelings in his stomach started to go away.
He went for another drink, only his eyes peeking over the top as he looked at Rye Toast, who was next to him on the counter, leaning on it. He blinked a few times. It usually seemed okay to be angry, but Daddy sure seemed awful upset when he was, like he didn't like it. Then again, Oliver didn't like being angry, either. It wasn't a good feeling. But sometimes it just...came. He couldn't help it. Unsure of how to reply, he kept his eyes on his milk.
Something different? This caught his interest, and he lifted his head from the cup to listen. "Yeah, I get it," he answered, though the rise and fall of his tone was less than supportive. "But everybody always yikes babies. Joo and Kitty came to see Mo, too. But I guess they're okay sometimes. I fink," he pondered very seriously, "I fink if maybe babies no around, people yike me."

Essence shifted to a higher sitting position and glanced over the back of the couch. They had been in there an awful long time for just getting drinks? Maybe they were having a "guy talk"? Would she be interrupting if she went in? But she wanted to know what was going on. And she wanted a hug from Ryder. And maybe one from Ollie too, if he didn't hate her.
Making up her mind finally, she hefted herself off the couch and shuffled to the kitchen. Offering a soft, hesitant smile, she looked between the two boys. It certainly seemed like they were having a "guy talk." Moving to Ryder, she ducked under his arm, pressing to his side and tucking herself against him. "Thought you guys got lost or something," she joked lamely.

His mouth twitched to the side in a slanted frown. "That's not true buddy." He said softly, rustling his hair gently. "People love you, even with babies around." He smiled softly. "Y'know that right?"
He felt his arm being lifted, and turned slightly to find Essence leaning into him. He smiled, laying a kiss to her temple. "Thought you guys got lost or something," He grinned. "Nah." he shook his head. "Just having a man to man talk. Ain't that right Ollie?" He smiled back at him. "Here's your tea by the way." He laughed gently, sliding the glass towards her.

Well, it sure seemed like it was true. He put the cup between his legs on the counter, though his hands were still securely around it as he watched the ripples go in and out from the small twitches of his hands. Eventually he had to look up because a new voice came into play, and he tensed for a moment, not knowing if Kitty was angry at him for not being happy. Suddenly the milk turned in his stomach and he pushed the cup to the side, not wanting to drink anymore.
Teeth clamped down on his lip, he wasn't sure if she still liked him anymore. She liked Rye Toast, and Rye Toast liked her, and he knew he'd made a mistake. Ollie's chin trembled and tears welled up in his eyes before he choked out a petrified, "Kitty?" As soon as he had her attention, he didn't want it anymore. He didn't like her eyes on him. They didn't judge by any means--just the opposite, which might have upset him. They were almost too kind, too forgiving.
A low whine rumbled in his throat before a tear dribbled down his cheek and he shakily muttered, "I sorry."

She grinned up at Ryder, trading his kiss for a soft one to his lips. "Thanks, babe." Just as she was reaching for the tea though, Oliver took her attention. The way he said his nickname for her... It nearly broke her heart. And then she turned and actually saw him. Saw how sad and even afraid (?) he looked.
"I sorry."
"Oh, honey!" Essence exclaimed. She pulled from Ryder to scoop Oliver up against her. Holding him tight, she pressed her face to his shoulder. "You don't have anything to be sorry for, okay?" she assured him softly. "You never have to apologize for the way you feel about something. Nothing you feel is wrong or...or bad."
She shifted him to be a little lower, settled against her waist, and pulled away to see his face. "Okay?" She met his eyes steadily, giving him a small, encouraging smile as she wiped at his tears. "I'm not mad at you, Ollie. I promise. I love joo very, very muchly." Her smile grew a little as she said the last line in a juvenile tone before hugging him close to her again.

"Kitty? I sorry." "Oh, honey!"
He smiled softly as Essence went to scoop him up into her arms. She was going to be a great mother, he could already tell. "You don't have anything to be sorry for, okay?" he nodded. "That's right."
"I'm not mad at you, Ollie. I promise. I love joo very, very muchly."
He laughed softly, shaking his head as he grabbed his glass of tea and took a sip. "We both do." He corrected her with a smile, reaching over to rub Oliver's back. "You okay?"

There. No, here. Yes, right here. Right here was the place, right where he wanted to be. A mighty sigh rustled through him before he put his face against her shoulder, hearing her adamant, soft reassurances. Arms just fitting around her neck, he held onto her shirt, feeling the tears dissipate quickly, as if her closeness was absorbing them before they had time to release. Kitty was magic.
Right. Yes, okay. Nothing he felt was wrong. Nodding, liking the way that sounded, he lifted his head to see her, a tiny smile sparking on his face. Whether it was because he was genuinely happy at her good spirits or because it was a bodily attempt to cheer him up, he surely began to feel better nonetheless.
He returned softly, "An' I love joo, Kitty an' Rye Toast." Rye asked him if he was okay and he nodded, laying his head against Kitty again. His stomach felt much better now. "An' babies no meanies," he corrected himself, coming to his senses. "Cause Mo is berry nice. She says I am the bestest bruffer ever."

"An' I love joo, Kitty an' Rye Toast."
"You better!" Essence shot back, grinning against his soft hair. Oh good. Oh thank god. A relieved sigh pulled from her lungs as her smile softened. Oliver rested his head against her again and she in turn leaned back a little until her back was touching Ryder's front. Wanted to be connected to him in some way.
"An' babies no meanies," he corrected himself, coming to his senses. "Cause Mo is berry nice. She says I am the bestest bruffer ever."
Essence laughed at that, nodding. "Oh yeah, I bet you are the bestest bruffer ever." She reared back a little again to see him. "And you're gonna be the bestest cousin to our little cub right? Gonna teach 'em how to do everything important?" Maybe if she got him involved in the baby, gave him some importance, he would be a little more excited about it? She just hoped it didn't backfire and he got all moody again... She didn't think that would happen though. He seemed really all right now.

"An' I love joo, Kitty an' Rye Toast." "You better!"
Ryder laughed easily, smiling brightly as he watched the two together. "That's right." He chipped in with a grin (lol). "An' babies no meanies," Ry smirked, waiting to hear what would come next.
"Cause Mo is berry nice. She says I am the bestest bruffer ever."
"Of course she's 'berry' nice. She's your sister. She's.. part of you. And you're way better than nice, my man. Your Fan--" He stopped himself before saying his usual 'fan-fucking-tastic' phrase. "Fantastic!" he quickly said with a smile.

"No," he laughed to Kitty's suggestion of him teaching. He already had a full time occupation teaching Mo all the things she needed to know, like how to give a good-night kiss! "That's your job," he informed her, pushing his index finger into her sternum with another chuckle. And if this baby was anything like the one Mommy had, it wouldn't be here for a while. He couldn't be too prepared, though!
Rye Toast really made him beam, and he threw his arms up in the air. "Faaaantastic!" he drawled with delight. That was right. He liked being fantastic. It made him feel super.
"Rye Toast," he said thoughtfully before leaning over and 'bopping' his nose, "joo is a thilly goose!"

She grinned up to Ryder, catching onto his flub. Yeah, they really needed to cut back on the cursing. Otherwise their baby would have a sailor-mouth before the age of three. But then Oliver was declaring that it was her job to teach the baby everything and she had to laugh because, well, he was right. "Well, I guess that's true," she said with a grin.
She chuckled as Oliver deemed her fiance a "thilly goose" and secured his title with a bop to the nose. "Yeah, that pretty much sums Ryder up," she agreed. "He is on 'thilly goose.'" Her grin was wide and easy, infinitely more relaxed than she had been a few moments ago. Her "boyfriend" was happy with her having a baby. All was well.

"No.. That's your job." "Well, I guess that's true,"
"I think it's more like; that's our job." He smirked, taking another sip of his drink. Setting it down, he turned back, watching as Oliver bopped his nose. [/i] "joo is a thilly goose!"[/i] He crinkled his nose. "Yeah, that pretty much sums Ryder up,"
So that's how it was huh?
"Nu uh." He responded with a childish tone. "You two are the silly gooses." he pointed out with a grin, bopping them both on the nose. "Silly goose number one, and silly goose jr." He declared.

"Hey!" he protested, huffing and throwing his arms together in a criss-cross. "Rye Toast, joo the silliest goose EVER. So there! No more silly gooses for me an' Kitty! Ha!" With that, he threw his arms around the woman again, holding on tightly. Nobody was sillier than Rye Toast, cause he thought he was the bestest, but that wasn't true. Rye Toast was the bestest at making cool places appear, but Ollie was "fantastic." And that was that.
Then Ollie thought of a good idea. Reaching out, he took Rye's nose in two of his fingers and laughed, bellowing, "Honk!" Oliver tossed his head back in strained laughter. "Rye Toast," he said through heavy chuckles, "now joo really silly goose!"

She leveled a look to Ryder, amusement showing through her eyes. "I'm a silly goose?" She shrugged. "That's cool. You're marrying a silly goose and having a gosling with her too." Thinking about it, she adding, "Well, since you're a silly goose, I guess I'm doing the same, huh?" She shook her head then, realizing that that had gone on for too long.
Then Oliver honked Ryder's nose and she all but lost her shit. Doubling over, she laughed and tried to keep a hold on Oliver at the same time. She couldn't wait till their baby arrived. This kind of joy that came from just having a little thing around... She loved it; couldn't live without it.
Calming down, she straightened up and met Ryder's eyes, laughter still lingering along her face. Perching onto her tiptoes, she kissed his abused nose playfully, grin on her lips.

"That's so not the end of this conversation little goose." He threw back with a grin. "That's cool. You're marrying a silly goose and having a gosling with her too." Thinking about it, she adding, "Well, since you're a silly goose, I guess I'm doing the same, huh?" His grin stayed as he gave her a nod. "Dang straight missy."
He watched as Oliver leaned over and grabbed his nose, his brows lifting. "Honk!" Oliver tossed his head back in strained laughter. "Rye Toast," he said through heavy chuckles, "now joo really silly goose!" "Nu uh!" He siad in a amused tone. "You did not just honk my nose.." He said, reaching up to rub it a moment. Second later and Essence was laying a kiss to it.
"See? I got a kiiiiissss." He smirked, taking his glass and taking a sip of the ice cold tea inside. "Mmm." He mumbled, closing his eyes. "I love tea..."
