"Ryder's a good dinosaur," she commented, mustering up a grin. "He likes to 'rawr.'"
Yeah, that was all well and good, but could he play with them? Because Kitty had to play. There were no two ways about it. If Kitty didn't play, there would be no game of dinosaur. After all, she made the whole dinosaur element come to life. Switching gazes between Rye Toast and Kitty, Oliver was waiting for a definitive answer.
They didn't give one and he sighed.
"Well, he gotsta rawr real gooder, 'cause joo rawr reeeeal good, Kitty. Joo da flinosawr!"
Scuttling down from her arms so she could change, he smiled up at her in anticipation. "Go, go," he encouraged. "Go, do trick thingy. Be flinosawr, Kitty. Pease?"

"Go, go," he encouraged. "Go, do trick thingy. Be flinosawr, Kitty. Pease?"
Well with a phase like that, how could she resist? "Okay, okay. Ready for the dinosaur, dude?" Taking in a deep breath, she shot a reassuring smile to Ryder and closed her eyes. Tapping into her heightened senses, she strengthened her connection to the baby, hearing its heart beat, lungs flutter, tiny lips sucking instinctually. She would be able to sense if anything went wrong and halt the shift before it hurt the baby this way. She hoped.
"Here goes," she announced softly, before shifting. The entire time, she stayed tuned to her baby. Settling on the raptor form, she took a moment to focus on the fetus again. Heart still beating. lungs still breathing. Still perfect in everyway. Raptor-Essence gave a sigh of relief before rawring playfully to Oliver.
Damn, she was so glad that worked out. Now they could fool around a little bit, get all the extra energy out. And then, once they were done playing dinosaur, she would tell him. Tell Ollie that she and Ryder were gonna get married (he would be excited about that, probably) and that she was going to have a baby (maybe not so excited...).

His eyes shot to Essence. So she was going to try? He took in a breath, holding it unconciously until he saw her shift. "Here goes," Just like that. One minute she was her, the next she was a raptor. Very cool choice.
He chuckled softly as she roared playfully at Oliver. He cracked his neck some, pulling his arms in strange ways as he let lose a roar of his own. Laughing a moment later, he shook his head. This was going to be some day, he knew that for sure.
He rubbed at his mouth, then put his hands togheter, pointing a finger out at nothing as he began making the scenery change. His illusion power was starting to come back, that was a good sign. He made it nightfall, on a secluded beach. His fingers pointed to the sky, littering it with stars.
"Alright." He grinned, satisfied with the location. "Let's get our dinosaur on."

Lookie lookie lookie! Dinosaur! Ohboy!
He bounced up and down on his feet, clapping his hands in exaggerated swings. His lips were parted in a beaming smile, stretching from ear to ear, eyes dazzling. He loved this game. "Rawr!" he challenged, taking up the position of the T-Rex, stomping around with whatever strength his little legs had.
"Nom nom nom!" he cried out in a growl. "I is eated Rye Toast! He nummy! Rawr! Joo betta run, Rye Toast! Or I'mma eachuuu!"
[[Sorry, shitty, I know.]]

[[Not shitty! Adorable. lol]]
If dinosaurs could laugh, Essence would have at Oliver's jumbled speech. "Eated Rye Toast" indeed! She looked around, marvelling at the environment Ryder had created. She really loved that power of his; glad it was back to working normally as well. One less thing for her to worry about.
Giving another roar, she nudged Oliver's back, urging him on. Running about with him, she found herself growing tired quickly. Whoa, that was odd. She would have to take a break soon or she wouldn't have the energy to shift back. Growling softly, she offered one last dash toward Ryder, pressing her head against his knees.

"Nom nom nom!" he cried out in a growl. "I is eated Rye Toast! He nummy! Rawr! Joo betta run, Rye Toast! Or I'mma eachuuu!"
He laughed, quickly darting to the other side of the room. "You better not eat me, little man." He grinned, roaring loudly. The next thing he knew Essence was making a mad dash toward him. She slowed down some and gently hit his knees. He grinned, roaring back at her with a bright smile.
This was turning out to be an interesting game. If only he could shift like Essence, then there'd be two dinosaurs, and one tiny little man. He smirked over at Oliver. "Better run Ollie, she gonna eat you!"

He agreed to Kitty's idea gleefully, going after Rye Toast with his arms over his head, fingers curled like makeshift claws. Just as he was about to pounce, Rye Toast issued a warning. Kitty was big and scary, but she had head-butted Rye...
Confused, he cocked his head, lowering his arms. "Well, I'mma just hafta eated BOTH of joo!" he concluded with a curt nod of his head, going up to them until he had one arm around each of their legs. Barely.

"Well, I'mma just hafta eated BOTH of joo!"
As Oliver charged them both, Essence closed her eyes, focusing on shifting back to her human form. The baby only squirmed a little but seemed otherwise unbothered. Once back to herself, she was lying on her back, propped up a little by her elbows. She managed to catch Oliver as he reached out to grab her legs.
"No, don't eat me!" Essence called laughingly. "I surrender!" Pulling him to her though, she wrapped her lips over her teeth to gum harmlessly over his ears and neck. "Om nom nom! Now I eatchu!" Sitting back a little, she rested against Ryder's legs. "Sorry I had to come back to Human-Kitty, Ollie. I was getting a little tired."
She could do this. Gently ease into it.

"Well, I'mma just hafta eated BOTH of joo!"
Ryder's eyes grew wide in faux-shock, slowly moving backwards. But it seemed to late, the boy had already grabbed his leg. Hearing the phone ring, his head turned, feeling Oliver's hand release his leg. Turning back, he laughed at the site of Essence and Oliver on the ground. "Be right back." He laughed, rushing off to answer the phone before the machine could get to it.
"Sorry I had to come back to Human-Kitty, Ollie. I was getting a little tired."
He smiled at her before leaping over and onto the couch, grabbing the phone off the coffee table. "Hello?" He asked, chuckling into the phone. "No, Johnny. It's okay, just got--Yeah. No problem." He gave a nod, smiling. "Sure thing, see you tomorrow. Uh huh, right. I'll tell her. Bye." He laughed, hanging up.
"Johnny told me to ask you when you two were gonna meet up again for the late night.." He grinned, letting it trail off for a reason. "Shame on you." He laughed, walking over to them as they still laid on the floor. "Anyone hungry? We got some nachos over here getting cold."

"Sorry I had to come back to Human-Kitty, Ollie. I was getting a little tired."
Tired? Taking it with a grain of salt, Oliver laughed airily when she nibbled at his ears and neck, shaking his head as if that would get her to stop. He couldn't breathe, let alone tell her that. Soon enough he regained a normal heartrate, and he sat calmly on her lap. "Okey-tay, Kitty," he agreed without much to it.
Head perking up at the sound of Rye Toast's voice, he shook his head at the question of hunger. He wanted to play, even if it was just a simple game of roll-the-ball-back-and-forth or something. He wasn't a sit-still kid. Well, except when someone read to him. Maybe Kitty would read a book to him. Suddenly enthralled by the new idea, he slipped off her lap to go to the small box of books and toys they kept over here for him.
Hmm. What book did he want to read? Pulling a few from the pile, he kept them clutched to his chest, too big for his little arms to reach around. "Kitty," he started, trying to squirm his way back onto the couch; her lap. "Read, pease?"

As Ryder went off to grab the phone, Essence straightened up to support herself, keeping a hold on Oliver. She listened to the conversation with half an ear until she recognized that it wasn't an emergency or anything of the sort. Going back to her faux-assualt, she playfully gobbled along Oliver's ears, grinning as he wriggled.
"Johnny told me to ask you when you two were gonna meet up again for the late night... Shame on you."
She laughed openly at that. Crazy man. "Uh-huh. Been meaning to tell you about that," she joked. "I'm madly in love with him actually; he's the only one for me." She fluttered her eyes dreamily and sighed like a giddy teenager. Her facade quickly degenerated into giggles though and she rose to drop a kiss to Ryder's lip. "Kidding, of course."
"Kitty," Essence looked to Oliver at the call, smiling softly. "'S'up, dude?" she asked, trailing into the living room after him. Seeing him struggling with the couch, she helped him up, taking the seat next to him. "Read, pease?"
Essence chewed on her lower lip a minute. Glancing off to the side a moment, she caught Ryder's gaze. "Um, in a minute, Ollie," she said, finally looking from Ryder and to the little boy next to her. "I got something to tell you first."

He smirked, giving her a quick kiss back. "Uh huh." He chuckled, shaking his head. Oliver shook his head at the mention of food. "More for me then, dude." He smirked, walking back over to the living room and grabbing a few off the plate before heading back to stand next to Ess.
"Kitty, Read, pease?" "Um, in a minute, Ollie, I got something to tell you first."
Her perked a brow, quickly swallowing before opening his mouth. "Now?" He asked, a look of slight worry in his eyes. He licked his lips looking back at Oliver. "Better now than later, yea?"

As he awaited her reply through her momentary banter with Rye Toast, Oliver started to open the cover of the first book, looking intensely at the pictures and trying to figure out what the story was just from them. He'd read each book before, but sometimes he would forget.
"Um, in a minute, Ollie. I got something to tell you first."
Oh? What? And why didn't she just get right to it? Snapping his attention to her, liking that she had been thinking about him enough to tell him something, he sat eagerly on the couch with his legs swinging impatiently. She seemed hesitant about something, or on edge.
His big, blue eyes were full of curiosity.

"Now? Better now than later, yea?"
She glanced back to catch Ryder's gaze, holding it a moment. Better now than later. "Yeah," was all she said in response, licking her lips. This was a happy announcement; or at least it was supposed to be... But with Oliver, she was just so afraid to hurt his feelings. She decided to start with something that she knew he would probably find exciting. Get off to a good start that way.
"Well, I have two things to tell you, really. The first one is really, really exciting." Pausing here, she looked back to Ryder, grinning softly. "Ollie, me and Ryder are gonna get married."
She loved saying it. It didn't matter if she was telling a friend, a child or just an empty room. She loved saying the words: She was getting married.

The words Well, get to it, were the only ones on Oliver's mind when Kitty took forever to spit it out. He blinked a few times when she finally let it go, and then realized he should smile. Married? Well he might not have known what that really meant, but he sure was happy about it! Something told him that meant Rye Toast would be sticking around for a long, long time.
"Yay!" he squealed, throwing his arms up in the air before resorting to clapping his little palms together, dancing in his seat. "Yike Mommy an' Daddy! Joo mawwied! Oh boy!"
Wow! If that was the first thing, he couldn't wait to hear the second!

He smiled brightly, looking to Oliver. He wondered how his reaction would be. Ess said he'd be happy about this, but possibly not about the other news. "Yay!" He let out a breath, he didn't know he was holding.
"Yike Mommy an' Daddy! Joo mawwied! Oh boy!"
Ryder laughed, nodding as he wrapped an arm around Essence's waist. "Yeah, exactly." He smiled. "But there's more than that." He said, looking to Essence. "You telling him or should I?"

"Yike Mommy an' Daddy! Joo mawwied! Oh boy!" "Yeah, exactly."
Essence laughed, delighted by his enthusiasm. She nodded along with Ryder, passing him a smile as well. "That's right, like Mommy and Daddy." She took in a breath though, preparing herself for the seconc piece of news.
"But there's more than that." He said, looking to Essence. "You telling him or should I?"
"I'll do it," she offered softly, lowering her eyes to the little boy. This was a little ridiculous. She was telling her five-year-old playmate that she was having a baby; she shouldn't be so worked up over it... Bringing a new smile to her face, she finally let it out. "Well, Ollie, just like Mommy and Daddy, um, me and Ryder are..." she turned to meet Ryder's eyes, smile broadening just from his presence. "We're gonna have a baby," she announced proudly.

Oliver's smile fell, but only just. Another baby? But what did that mean? Like Mommy and Daddy, Kitty and Rye Toast seemed very happy about this announcement, yet unlike before, he made a conscious effort not to make them upset with showing any disappointment. Hadn't Kitty understood what they'd talked about before? Everybody loved Mo, the "new baby." So now with a new baby again, this time Kitty's, how could she understand?
"Why?" he asked, eyes glued to hers, demanding an answer. Then he surmised, "Oh, dat's o-tay. Joo have new bestest play date. Dat o-tay. I have Lo-Lo, he mah bestest fwen." With that settled, he flung open the first book on his lap and began to assess the pictures, knowing very few words.
Even so, a heavy sigh escaped him.

He smiled, grabbing her hand and giving it a bit of a squeeze. His gaze drifted to Oliver, before letting go of her hand and crouching down to his height. "Why?" His head turned, looking to Ess. Just by Oliver's tone, he could tell he wasn't happy. "Because, bud. We love each other." He tried to explain.
"Oh, dat's o-tay. Joo have new bestest play date. Dat o-tay. I have Lo-Lo, he mah bestest fwen."
Ouch.. He sucked in a breath and took to his full height once more. He leaned in, laying a kiss to her temple. "I'll give you two a moment to talk. I'll go fix us something to drink." He said softly before walking off to the kitchen.

"Because, bud. We love each other."
"Right," she agreed, meeting his eyes. There was a waver in her voice, though, because clearly Oliver was not happy about this. Fuck.
"Oh, dat's o-tay. Joo have new bestest play date. Dat o-tay. I have Lo-Lo, he mah bestest fwen." "I'll give you two a moment to talk. I'll go fix us something to drink."
"Thanks, babe," she said softly, watching him go. Turning to Oliver, she took in a gentle breath. "Hey," she said, calling his attention. "You are still my bestest play-date. You always will be. No one plays dinosaur better than you." She tried a soft smile but couldn't quite make it work. "The baby won't be here for awhile. And even when it does come, it won't be able to play for awhile. It'll be too little and small. I'll definitely still need you around to play with me."
Shifting closer, she rubbed a hand through his hair. "And besides. Whatever this baby is, I will love it very, very much. But it won't be my Oliver. You are the only one who can be my Oliver. And that is why I love you very, very much." She leveled her eyes to his, smiling. "Okay?"
