Her abilities
Personality: Having grown up as a timid, quiet child, it reflects in her persona even as she grows into a young adult. She is very perceptive; easily sees things most people think they are hiding (ex: if someone faltered and no one else saw it, she will notice), but in that is very modest. The unknown makes her feel afraid and apprehensive, closing her up even more. It takes a bit to get conversation out of Emma, but when she does speak, her words are eloquent and mature for her age, having had this for quite some time through her years. In some circumstances she can be easily inhibited, but contrary to that, she is a strong, couragous person who is determined to solve a problem. Though fear may lie underneath this bravery of hers--more bravery than she gives herself credit for--she is persistant, and always gets back up to try again.
History: Emma lived a normal life for her first few years with her mother, Lucica, her father, Henri [in case you're wondering, this is French, pronounced "ohn-ree," not "hen-ree"], and her brother, Deiderich. Yes, there was the occasional dream and she experienced de ja vu, but she never thought anything of it. It was when she saw her brother with a terrible cough in a dream once and he died when she awoke when she was eight and he fifteen that she knew something was out of place. Her brother and her had been very close, thus his death being a terrible blow. Eight years later, when she was sixteen, she lost her father.
Both deaths haunt her to this day, and she, being a very pious person, prays daily to and for them. She came to the school to make something of herself and her uniqueness, and she and her mother correspond frequently through letters. Lucica embraces her daughter's gift, but is more than skeptical that it is truly a "power." She is yet to be convinced.

Example: Why she didn’t repel…he didn’t know. But she most definitely stayed longer than three quarters of an hour. And for this he was grateful.
He’d never been so infatuated before. Resting on his back on the floor in his study—head on a few pillows, body spread out on the assortment of rugs and carpets—with one hand on his abdomen and the other holding the back of his head, he stared up at the blank ceiling, listening to the rain outside, the window open. He thought of her gentle, beautiful curls of hair glistening with the rain, the moonlight making them shine. She was like the cloudless rain.
He glanced over at the pillow that still had the indentation in it from where she’d laid her head. He touched the spot with the tips of his fingers, then brought his nose over to it and inhaled all the way to the bottom of his lungs. His eyes closed. It still smelled of her—a floral perfume, but it wasn’t materialistic; it was simply her scent, perfectly natural; a floral perfume of lavender, roses, and something else. Something else and he didn’t know what it was.
Moving back to rest in his prior position, John emitted a long, pregnant sigh. How wonderful….
Although in actuality the room was chilly, he himself was quite warm, and chose to strip himself of his shirt. He had to peel the fabric from his body, feeling it stick to his skin with sweat. The relief of having the breeze cleanse him granted him a respite.
