What... in the world.. was that racket? He groaned, rolling over and pulling Essence closer, pulling the covers up and over his head. But it didn't stop.. Wait, was that a knock? He sat up quickly, his eyes barely open. " Mm, wha?" He rubbed at his eye as he slowly slide out of the bed, checking the time. Seven o'clock in the god damn morning. Whoever this person was, knocking on his door, will soon be dead. Because, he was going to strangle them, and then cuss them out as they took their last gasp of air. They'd barely been in their new house a week. Boxes strewn apart here and there. Boy, they were slacking. He made a mental note to start on some of that later on in the day. He grabbed a shirt off the floor and threw it on as he mumbled incoherent under his breath. The knocking consisted, and as he left the bedroom, he yelled as he reached the door. " Shut the fuck up, I'm coming god.." He sighed, pulling it open with vigor. " What? Do you know what time it i--" It was a girl...

Why was he waking her up? What the fuck? Then she heard the knocking and groaned. "No, no," she protested as he moved out of bed. "They'll leave," she mumbled, barely coherent. Whoever was at the door, she was gonna rip their throat out. Ryder had been keeping her warm. They had made him leave. She growled in her throat and curled further into herself. As he walked out of the bedroom, she called to him, "Make 'em go 'way." Pulling his pillow close to her body, she added, "Fast." Stupid fucking people knocking on their fucking door, interrupting them while they were fucking sleeping. Like, really? They hardly ever actually slept when they were in bed together and someone was going to wake them up in the middle of it? Hearing Ryder yell, she chuckled a little and then ducked her head under his pillow. Bradbury leapt on the bed and began to bat at her hair. Fucking... Her fox had been woken up and now he wanted to play. She shooed him away with a lazy hand. Bradbury only took this as a further game and swatted at her hand. Essence sighed and rolled over, tapping into her enhanced senses. Well, if she was up, she might as well listen in on who had woken them up...

Novalee knew this was a bad idea. She had been living in a motel for three weeks now, and the owner finally kicked her out. He spoke of his motel not being a home. Oh but it was many other things, like a place for protitutes to solict themselves. She scowled at the thought. The address to her brother's home had been burning a hole through her purse for days. She needed this. Even if he shunned her away she needed to atlease meet him. She sighed softly hearing the cursing from the other side of the door. She knew it was too early to bother people, but she was just too anxious. She also was not willing to roam New York alone. That thought was pushed aside as the door jerked open. She took in the site of the man at the door. She gave a nervous smile. Her thoughts jumbling as she tried to remember what she rehearsed. She cleared her throat. "Umm hi." She said softly losing all the confidence she once held. He looked so much 'bigger' in person. She swallowed hard. "Are you...umm... Ryder Forrester?" She asked trying not to fall to her knees under the tension. He had the eyes. The eyes her mother called 'lifeless orbs'. She claimed her father had them. That must mean they were related. I mean can more than one person have the same set of eyes if they don't have the same DNA.... She didn't know, and at the moment she could care less. She wanted to be able to breathe without falling over....

"Make 'em go 'way... Fast." "Umm hi."
Part of him smiled, while the other perked a brow down at the girl. Which made an odd look on his face, like he was deranged or something. "Yes?" He said slowly, dragging it out as he shook his head. The more time he stood here, the more awake he got. Damnit, he wanted sleep!
"Are you...umm... Ryder Forrester?"
He sighed. "Look, if you're with the 'I hate Ryder' fanbase, Don't bother. I get it. People hate me." He told her, leaning against the door. He starred at her a moment, taking in the color of her eyes. Something told him she wasn't one of his haters. "Something tells me you're not.. So.." He shrugged. "Yes, I am."

Novalee's eyes widened as he went on about being in the 'I hate Ryder' Fanbase. Then he studied her a moment and knew she was not one of his so called 'haters'. She let a smile crawl across her lips. "No I'm not." She said gaining a little more confidence as her smile grew wider.
"I'm uh..." She stopped the stuttering and shook her head. "I'm Novalee." She paused. "I just moved to New York." She looked down at her boots. "I want to become a model, but most of all I'm looking for someone." She said looking back up into his eyes.
"And if you are who you say you are then." She grinned and stuck her hand out to shake his hand. "Novalee Forrester." She said softly. "I'm uhh... Your sister." She let that sink in. She didn't say a word, or move a muscle. She kept her hand extended, but nothing more.
How would he react? Throw her away, let her in...Throw her away, let her in. For godsakes let her in....

Essence had been listening the whole time, Bradbury settled on her stomach. She passed a gentle hand over the fox, ignoring his attempts to nip at her. Novalee? A model? Essence's brow furrowed. Kay. She trusted Ryder and everything, but maybe she should go out there and just... Because, well, what was a model doing visiting her fiance?
And then she heard the reason. Her eyes widened. Sister?! No, way. She looked to Bradbury before setting him aside and getting up. Padding through the foyer, she came up behind Ryder, Bradbury followed her curiously. "Ry?" she asked softly, laying a hand to his shoulder. She passed a look to the girl and took in a breath.
Well, she certainly did look like she could be related to him. At least, in the eyes... She looked back to Ryder, gauging his reaction.

"I'm uh... I'm Novalee I just moved to New York." She looked down at her boots. "I want to become a model, but most of all I'm looking for someone."
Ryder rubbed at the back of his neck. "Look.." He laughed airly. "I'm flattered, but I'm engaged." He told her.
"And if you are who you say you are then. Novalee Forrester." She said softly. "I'm uhh... Your sister."
His brows furrowed as he starred at her. The next thing he knew, he could feel Essence's hands on his back. "Ry?" "I.." Shit. What was he suppose to say? He knew his dad wasn't faithful to his mom. But shit.. a sister? Really? I mean.. really? He sighed. Thanks dad, couldn't use a condom in your little rendezvous?
He took a deep breath and sighed, letting a soft groan out as well. "Shit.. What am I suppose to say? Welcome to the fucked up Forrester Family?" He asked, sarcastically. A blast of wind came through, and he really didn't want to be standing here with the door open and boxers on. "I guess.." He looked to Essence, sighing again. "Come in?" He said, shrugging and shaking his head.
A sister? REALLY?

Novalee giggled softly. "Oh trust me it couldn't get more fucked up than going to our father's house and him kicking me out as soon as I told him I was his daughter." She sighed. "Thanks, but I don't want to intrude.." She said looking over his shoulder to the very pretty woman behind him.
She felt the breeze and her teeth chattered a bit. "Okay maybe for a sec..." She stepped inside the door. "Well umm if you want you can go back to sleep. I can leave... The owner of the Motel 6 kicked me out but I'm sure there is another motel around her..." She said looking down at her boots.
This was her way of drawing them in. Maybe, just maybe they could bond and she could have that family relationship with someone. She needed that family relationship. She needed a friend....and maybe they would let her stay for a while....

"Oh trust me it couldn't get more fucked up than going to our father's house and him kicking me out as soon as I told him I was his daughter."
His head bowed a moment as he thought about that. Could it have been.. was she the little girl he saw leaving right before he killed his father? His brows furrowed deeply in thought. She couldn't have... could she? "Thanks, but I don't want to intrude.." "Look, I got boxers on. and I don't want to be freezing." He told her.
"Okay maybe for a sec..." He sighed, closing the door behind them and leaning against it slightly as he starred at her. "Well umm if you want you can go back to sleep. I can leave... The owner of the Motel 6 kicked me out but I'm sure there is another motel around here..."
"Well.. fuck. You must be a Forrester. Easy, isn't it? Making people fall for little traps?" He sniffed. He could feel Bradbury at his feet. He looked down, starring at the fox. "Ess.." He looked over at her. "I got a feeling we'll be up for awhile. Can you make us a cup of coffee, babe?" He asked softly, pushing from the door, and walked through the barely furnished house.
"Come on." He told the girl, looking back at her. He took a seat, grabbing a blanket from the back of the couch and placing it over him as he took a seat. He starred at her, as she took a seat. "How old were you?" He began. "When you saw him?"

Essence watched Ryder carefully, saw the different emotions flicking over his face. Bradbury immediately went to investigate the girl. Sniffing at her feet, he gazed up at her a moment before turned back to Ryder. Bradbury nudged against his legs gently; the fox had taken to his owner's fiance and had picked up on his confusion and slight distress.
Essence snapped out of her little reverie at his request. She nodded to him, chewing on a fingernail as she whistled for Bradbury. The fox trotted after her, following into the kitchen. She set the coffee up and leaned against the counter, both listening to the conversation and thinking.
Ryder had a sister. Like, fuck. It would be something like this that woke them up. Not a door-to-door salesman or Jehovah's Witness, nothing normal like that. No. They got long-lost sisters. Fuck. She put a hand to her forehead and glanced to Bradbury. "Figures huh?" she murmured to her fox. Bradbury just swished his tail.
The coffee finished then and she prepared three cups. Hope they all liked it black because at seven in the morning she could not negotiate sugar and milk. Padding out of the kitchen, she followed Ryder's voice into the next room. Setting the cups out, she took the seat next to Ryder, determined to stay on the fringe of the conversation and just listen. Bradbury leapt into her lap and Essence pet him softly, tuning in.

Novalee sat down across from him. She smiled at the other blonde girl as she left the room. She shook her head softly. "It's not always so easy.." She said letting out a small laugh. "Sometimes people don't fall for it..." She grinned.
She heard him ask how old she was when she went to see him and it shocked her. She raised a brow. "I was about ten maybe eleven." She shrugged. "Why?" She asked softly. She looked around seeing all the boxes. She took a small breath.
She was interuptting his life. He had just moved in, and he was obviously in love with this woman. She grinned at the thought. It must be fun to be in love. "So about 6 or 7 years ago..." She said pretty much repeating what she had said.
She tried so hard not to look in his eyes, but they amazed her. They were the same as her's but so much deeper. They held so much more meaning to them. He had been through alot, and his eyes told the story...

"It's not always so easy.." She said letting out a small laugh. "Sometimes people don't fall for it..."
"Mm." Was all he said as Essence entered the room with coffees in her arms. "Thanks, baby." He smiled softly at her, taking a sip before setting it down. Her grabbed the blanket and shared it with her. If his legs were cold, no doubt hers were as well.
"I was about ten maybe eleven." She shrugged. "Why?"
So it was her.. He rubbed at his neck. No way to say is easily, so why not just throw it out there? "Because.. I think I saw you as I entered, as you left.." He told her softly. He just starred at her, unable to comprehend any of what was going on.. Yet he could see all the similarities.
"Because.. that's the last time anyone would have ever laid eyes on Sylvester Forrester.." His eyes trailed to Essence, grabbing her hand. "Because.. I killed him."

She smiled her thanks to him, curling her legs under the blanket. She held the coffee between her hands, staring at the cup while she listened. Why did Ryder want to know how old she had been at that time, she wondered. He explained it a minute later, though, so she wasn't left wondering.
"Because.. I think I saw you as I entered, as you left... Because.. that's the last time anyone would have ever laid eyes on Sylvester Forrester... Because.. I killed him."
She met his eyes easily, taking his hand in both of hers and holding it in her lap. Edging a little closer to him, she laid her head against his shoulder. A sigh left her as she considered it all. Bringing up all these memories of the past couldn't be good for Ryder. She knew how much he absolutely hated his father. And she still couldn't get a lock on Novalee. She believed that she was Ryder's sister but that didn't mean she trusted the other girl yet.

Novalee picked up her coffee cup thankful it was warm. She wasn't a fan of coffee but as long as it warmed her up she was happy. She sipped it softly listening to him. She was just about to swallow the sip when she heard him say he killed thier father.
Choking a tad as she swallowed the liquid she looked up at him with wide eyes. "You killed him?" She paused. "Like actually killed him?" She was shocked the man she met was a huge musclar man. He almost looked immortal with the way he held himself.
Straightening herself. She returned to a normal face. "Well I guess it's all for the best." She shrugged it off. She didn't want to admit how sad it was for her to never have a father figure. She almost had a deep pain in her chest from wishing she had a dad around when she was smaller.
Looking up at Ryder she took another sip. This was the awkward part. She could feel the girlfriend's uneasiness. She knew the girl had trust issues just by looking at her. This told her that the girl was not trusting her. She shook the feeling.

"You killed him?" She paused. "Like actually killed him? Well I guess it's all for the best."
He stared at her with cold, and yet, questionable eyes. Slowly, his head turned as he looked to Essence. Blinking once, he turned back to the girl sitting before them. "Yeah...Be right back." He pulled Essence up as he went, taking her down the hall and towards the bathroom.
"What the hell? I know my father wasn't the best man.. but to.. to just act like that? And what the fuck is that? 'Suppose it's for the best'? Wo the fuck says that?" He chattered on, looking back and around the corner to the living room.
He didn't trust her. Not. one. bit.

[[not sucky!! ^^]]
Essence allowed herself to get pulled away, passing a reassuring smile to the other girl. She didn't know what Ryder wanted but she could sense his discomfort. She just followed him, knowing he would explain it eventually.
Once they were a sufficient length away, he burst into talking. She just listened, eyes attentive and expression blank, not wanting to sway him. Once he was finished she took his hands in hers and smiled slightly. "Hey, we don't have the whole story, huh?" she pointed out, playing devil's advocate. "Maybe he was a real bastard to her. Or maybe she hardly knew him so she can't really grieve him. Or..." She sighed, face scrunching up a bit. She didn't really like this hypothesis, but it was the most likely.
"Maybe she doesn't want to let on to her true feelings 'cause she doesn't want to hurt yours. I mean, if she's trying to build a relationship with you or whatever then it wouldn't be best to start out by blaming you, you know?" She met his eyes again, trying another smile. "Calm, baby." Pursing her lips in thought, she added, "You don't trust her, huh?"
She wasn't sure she did either. Well, she was wary of the girl, at least. Unsure, still forming her opinion. She was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, though.
