detailed personality,
Sinead is a naturally shy person. She is timid and not very outspoken, but she isn't a real pushover. She's sort of just afraid of the consequences of saying something, suggesting something, or doing something. She is very hesitant and usually looks to others to make decisions for her. She is a naturally worried person, and she hopes that some day she'll get over this. The only way she has figured out so far to overcome this is to drink a lot of cola or have some food that makes her hyper--when she's in the mood to jump off the walls, she gets reckless and doesn't care. It's not very helpful, especially because it's a problem added to her eating disorder.
As well as being shy, Sinead is a dreamer. She keeps mostly to herself, and likes to think. She is constantly drawing and painting and singing and writing. She is very creative, but she is sort of like the sunflower that wilts beneath the others--having the potential but not really the bravery to express herself for all too see. She loves to play imaginary games and stuff, and she has a quick mind as the result of some impromptu brain-training. She is pretty clever and sharp, but no one really will know this unless you get close to her.
Although she may be a timid little thing, she is naturally sweet and helpful. She likes being praised and liked, so she does things that she think people will like--such as cleaning house for her mother, gardening, painting things, writing someone a song, or doing something else helpful or cheery. Sinead just wants to be liked. As a kid, she always had the feeling people didn't like her because their eyes would slide from her very young parents to her and they would mutter and stare. She thought it was something she did--so she tried to make up for it by being nice. She is just a sweet girl to begin with, no matter if she tries.

detailed history,
Sinead was an only child, and her parents hadn't even planned on having a kid. They were one of the many teen-couples at their schools who thought that there was no risk of pregnancy in the world. Until it happened to them, of course. They talked of abortion, of running away, they discussed many ideas. In the end, they decided to elope and run away--dropping out of school, leaving notes on their beds for their parents to find, and they ran. They found themselves in a small town off of Dublin, and when her mother was just sixteen she gave birth to her little daughter, named Sinead after her great-grandmother.
Sinead's family was pretty poor, and she was never very well-fed. So when her father got a promotion at his job and decided that moving to America would be a good idea, they were finally rich enough so that Sinead could eat whatever she wanted whenever she wanted. She grew fatter and fatter and people made fun of her. Soon, loosing weight became an obsession and she started to throw up everything she ate, and she got skinnier and skinnier. She hasn't been able to stop (that was two years ago), and it is still a problem with her.
When she was fourteen, Sinead decided that her parents weren't treating her well enough. They were drinking and she would hear loud noises every night from her room, and she never got to sleep. She was afraid and sort of sad--she was being paid no attention what-so-ever, and her father was always so drunk, she didn't want to get beaten or anything. She had also figured out she had powers, which scared her. She thought her parents would hate her for it, because when the mutants came on the news they would be bashed and ridiculed by her parents. She cringed inwardly, and resolved never to tell them. But her powers kept getting out of control and she decided she couldn't hide them. The solution she found was to run away. She ran to the closest mutant home, the one owned by the famous Colette. She thought that maybe they could help her; she still hasn't been there long, but sh hopes it will all work out for her.
