Letting her eyes slip closed, she settled further against him. "There was another woman there, someone he knew. She had some kind of necklace and he was really interested in. Some kinda amulet?" She paused, trying to remember what had happened."Then they started talking about heirs and I think it was some kind of creepy flirting..." A shudder ran down her spine as she recalled the talk that had been exchanged.
"Maybe that necklace has something to do with something?"

"There was another woman there, someone he knew. She had some kind of necklace and he was really interested in. Some kinda amulet?"
The word amulet echoed within his mind as he flashed back to being Ace. He was in Azrael's house, Phoenix was there... She was wearing the amulet. He rubbed at his temples and then the back of his head as it throbbed. The name was on the tip of his tongue, but it was as if he was unable to speak it.
"Then they started talking about heirs and I think it was some kind of creepy flirting... Maybe that necklace has something to do with something?"
"Bella." His hand ran down over his face. More than anything Bella wanted to have Azrael's heirs. He turned around, looking at her. "I don't like where this is going." He told her frankly. "Not one bit. That amulet is bad news... and in Bella's hands..." He shook his head.
He took a deep breath, knowing she was right in wanting to call for help on this. They certainly couldn't figure this all out on their own. "You said something about a friend?" He asked, his brows furrowing. "I think it's time you call her."

Essence's face screwed up involuntarily. She didn't like not knowing what was going on and she could tell Ryder was just as uncomfortable with it as she was. She pulled a little closer to him, taking solace in just his presence and proximity.
"You said something about a friend?" He asked, his brows furrowing. "I think it's time you call her."
Essence bit her lower lip and nodded. "I'll do it right now." She slipped her cell phone out of her pocket, glad it had survived the incident with Sylar. Dialing the number, she waited through a few rings before getting an answer. She spoke quickly. "Hi Emma. It's Essence. Listen...I have something I need to ask of you. Something fairly important." She paused a moment to cast a look to Ryder. "Do you think we could meet somewhere. Like...now?"
It just seemed like the kind of thing that needed to be discussed face-to-face.

"Hi Emma. It's Essence. Listen...I have something I need to ask of you. Something fairly important." She paused a moment to cast a look to Ryder. "Do you think we could meet somewhere. Like...now?"
He laid back, starring at the ceiling as he listened to her side of the conversation. He wondered what Ace was upto, or Sylar, as he know called himself. Sighing heavily, he reached into his pocket, pulling out a pack of smokes and lighting two of them, passing one to Essence.
"How about that cafe down the street?" He asked, turning to face her. He laid on his side, holding his head up with his hand as he took another long drag from the cigarette. None of it was mkaing much sense to him. Just what are you upto, Ace?
Just when things were looking bright for him, he had to come back and ruin it all. Seemed it was Ace's first joy in life, ruining his fun, his happiness. "Think maybe it's time I moved." He mumbled softly. He didn't like the fact that Sylar knew exactly where to find him...

She took the offered cigarette with a soft smile of thanks before relaying his suggestion to Emma. After a short period of deliberation, Emma agreed. Essence couldn't help the sigh of relief that left her. It taxed her injured chest though and she tried to hide the wince of pain.
"Thank you so much, Emma. I'll see you soon." With that, she hung up. Taking a slow drag on the cigarette, she moved to sit next to him. Closing her eyes, she leaned back until her head resting against his stomach. "So, she's in," Essence told Ryder. Which meant they had to get up and leave. She hated that a big part of her was afraid to leave the house.
"Think maybe it's time I moved."
Essence faced him to meet his eyes before nodding. "Yeah, you've got a point." Her eyes drifted over the room. And this bed... Essence shuddered. Well, let's just say she wasn't a fan of this bed.
Sighing (and wincing) again, she took another hit of nicotine. "We should go, huh?" she asked quietly.

"So, she's in,"
He gave a nod, taking another drag. "Okay." He sighed softly. He looked over at her, his mind raveling at the fact he wasn't there to protect her from him. "Are you okay?" He asked softly. "God.. I wish I woulda been with you.. I could have.." Could have what? Stopped him? As much as he hated to admit it, he doubted he could have.
"Yeah, you've got a point."
He felt her shudder, his hand on her side, rubbing softly. "I'll buy a new bed." He told her gently. "We'll look for a new one soon, and a house. Somewhere close to the city, but not in it." He smiled lightly.
"We should go, huh?"
He sighed, reaching for the ashtray and putting out the cig. "Yeah." He leaned up slightly, kissing her head as his foot reached out to bring his shoes closer so he could put them on. "Yeah, we should head out."

"Are you okay?" He asked softly. "God.. I wish I woulda been with you.. I could have.."
Essence leaned over to him, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "No you couldn't have," she assured him, but not unkindly. There was nothing he could have done so he shouldn't feel guilty about it. "I'm fine. Just twinges a little. Don't worry." She kissed him again before pulling back.
"I'll buy a new bed."
She chuckled at that, letting her eyes close again. He knew her too well. "Definitely," she agreed."We'll look for a new one soon, and a house. Somewhere close to the city, but not in it." She grinned at that, letting her cigarette burn low between her fingers. "With a lawn," she added sleepily. Mumbling, she tacked on, barely audible. "Kids need a lawn."
Kids. Where the hell had that come from? This is why Essence should never lose sleep; she ended up saying stupid things. Because that was what they should be thinking about at that moment. She was only nine-fucking-teen and besides, there was the small matter of a murderous psychopath being out for their blood. But, no, they should have a couple kids. Yeah.
Essence inwardly rolled her eyes at herself before following his example of sitting up and making to leave. Attempting to laugh it off she said softly, "Don't listen to me. I'm tired, don't know what I'm saying."
She took the last drag of her cig before tapping it out and then headed to his dresser and tossing a plain, white tee shirt of his over her head. She doubted showing up in a torn, bloody shirt would be the proper way to greet Emma. Leaning against the wall, she slouched in such a way that her wounds didn't bother her and waited for Ryder. Because she was planning on sticking very, very close to him once they left the house.

Even if she was fine, he felt guilty. Ace was... part of him. He had created him, and god damnit. he'd un-create him too. He gave a nod, slipping his shoes own as a yawn escaped his lips. "You as tired as I am?" He asked, looking back at her as he tied his shoe laces.
"With a lawn," she added sleepily. Mumbling, she tacked on, barely audible. "Kids need a lawn."
He halted, froze even. Kids... kids? No doubt the idea had crossed his mind. He'd love to have kids with her. But.. there was the small fact of Sylar was loose and looking for him. It wasn't safe for a kid here and now. But.. kids. A smile crept to his face.
"Don't listen to me. I'm tired, don't know what I'm saying."
He gave her a look, with a sly smile and shook his head without saying a word as he took to his feet. Laughing softly, he grabbed her hand and pulled her close. "C'mon." He smiled. "We should go." He walked to the door, grabbing his keys and walking out, locking the door behind him.

The phone call had struck her as odd, but that was just about the understatement of the year. She'd talked to Essence a few times, and she'd babysat for Ollie on an occasion or two, but what could have gone on that was "fairly important" that needed discussing? with her, nonetheless? Emma left Oliver at home with Cian, opting for a taxi today, mostly because she didn't need her feet hollering at her later about how much they ached from walking the streets of New York, and driving never really appealed to her. Unless it was in Dean's Impala.
Keeping her eyes steady out the window, she touched the driver's seat in front of her as she saw the cafe come into view. "Right here, thank you," she remarked quickly, giving him time to pull over. After paying the driver (eh; she tossed a 10, telling him to keep the change--she really didn't have time for doling out dollars right now), she got out of the car, haphazardly jaywalking (who needed crosswalks, anyway? They were probably more dangerous than crossing in the middle of the street) to the cafe.
She couldn't get Essie's voice out of her head. Something wasn't right.

That sly smile told Essence he hadn't been freaked out by her slip of the tongue. But she pushed it to the back of her head. There were way more important things going on right now. She could plan her (potential) future with Ryder at not so fucking crazy time.
It didn't take long to get to the cafe but she kept herself glued to Ryder's side the entire time. If asked she would deny, deny, deny, but she was scared. Which was something entirely new for her. Being outside had never freaked her out before. But with Sylar on the loose... She tugged even close to Ryder.
The door jingled softly, marking their entrance. Essence spotted Emma almost immediately. She passed the woman a smile and led Ryder over to her. "Hi, Emma. This is my boyfriend, Ryder Forrester. Ry, this is Emmanuelle Lawrence. " She kept her eyes locked with Emma's. She knew Emma would recognize the name but she was begging her to at least give them a chance. To just hear their explanation and maybe grant them a little understanding.

He wrapped an arm around her, knowing she was clinging to him for a reason. He couldn't blame her, after what she'd been through. Doubts of how this was going to work began spreading through his mind. Just the mention of his name brought consequences all their own. This might not go so well..
"Hi, Emma. This is my boyfriend, Ryder Forrester. Ry, this is Emmanuelle Lawrence. "
Emma... Emma, Maier? Saikoro and Azrael automatically came to mind, and there was the mention of his name again. He gave a nod pulling out a chair for Essence to sit down in. "Hey." He said softly, giving a faint smile. Please, don't freak. Please, don't freak. He kept thinking as he looked over the table at the woman before them.
"I'm.. I'm not the same guy.." He blurted out, rubbing at his neck. "That.. that was Ace.. I'm, just Ry." He wanted to slap himself. Just Ry? Like that justifies anything, Ryder. Stupid.. Stupid, stupid.

Hearing the bell of the door instantly made her look to see if it was Essence. She saw the redhead walk in shoulder-to-shoulder with a man Emma had never seen before, and she didn't exactly assume he was her brother. Never something that innocent, with that look on her face, and that lack of space between them. "Hi," she replied calmly, allowing a soft smile. Ryder. Oh, shit.
There had to be some explanation. Essence wasn't thick. She wouldn't bring him here if they didn't have a good reason. Nodding, Emma smiled to him as well. "Nice to meet you."
She scoffed at Essence's introduction of her. "Emma, please. Emmanuelle is a mouthful."
"I'm...I'm not the same guy." Arching a brow, she searched his eyes for a moment. "Okay..." Something was tugging at the rationale to give him a chance. Just listen. "Are you two okay? I mean...you look shaken. What did you need to talk about?"

Essence took the seat and dropped a comforting hand to Ryder's thigh. Emma would understand. Out of everyone, Emma would understand. She met his eyes for a minute before nodding. "Yeah. Well... It's a little bit of a long story but..." She sighed, thinking of where to begin.
"Ryder and Ace aren't the same person. It's like...." she struggled for how to explain it. "Kind of like a split-personality? This is Ryder." She licked her lips as flashes of Ace accosted her mind. Shaking her head a little, she added, "Ace is someone else entirely. He's the murderous one with the blood lust. And now... Now he's got his own body and is roaming town..."
But none of that was where Emma came in. "We think Colette should know. Ace, or Sylar as he calls himself now, has no conscience. Everyone should be alert of him." She looked to Ryder again. "But considering the past between Colette and Ace, we didn't think she'd be too receptive of Ryder's face." She bit her lower lip, hoping that made sense and didn't sound totally crazy. She unconsciously leaned closer to Ryder, seeking contact.
Retelling everything just made it so much more real.

"Are you two okay? I mean...you look shaken. What did you need to talk about?"
"Shaken is an understatement." He muttered softly, running a hand over his head. He felt uncomfortable, but knew this was for the best. Sighing, he leaned back in the chair, his hand clasping over Essence's. "Ryder and Ace aren't the same person. It's like...." she struggled for how to explain it. "Kind of like a split-personality? This is Ryder."
He stayed silent a long time, letting Essence explain it. "I was.. kinda crazy there for awhile." He muttered, as a woman looked at him oddly. He simply blinked back at her. "We think Colette should know. Ace, or Sylar as he calls himself now, has no conscience. Everyone should be alert of him." He gave a nod. "There's a ritual, we found, that he must have done to summon Lilith." He piped in.
"But considering the past between Colette and Ace, we didn't think she'd be too receptive of Ryder's face."
He nodded. "Exactly, Ace caused hell for Colette, and since my body was his domain for the longest, it'd be hard for her to even... contemplate helping." He sighed, his foot tapping on the floor as Essence leaned into him. "That's just the beginning."
He took a deep breath. "He has a plan. I know he does, I know him better than anyone. He also.. attacked Essence. Just awhile ago, actually." The same woman who starred at him before walking by, giving the group a odd look. "A and B convo, no need for you." He told her, giving her a nasty look. "Thank you." He muttered as the woman huffed before walking away.

It was a lot to take in. More of this demon business, more of what Dean had said was going to come true. Emma frowned, listening, not really sure what to say, or why they had called her. Still, she was glad to know, and did her best to summon up a few replies.
Sylar, a demon--once Ace. She tilted her head. "Who's Lilith?" Someone who was summoned, he said. Couldn't be a normal person, then, could it?
Her eyes widened as Ryder explained further. A hand reached out on the table to go for Essence. "Are you okay?" she asked, taken aback at the sound of her being attacked. Clearly she was intact, but...why would he attack her? To get to Ryder? This sounded very familiar...
Azrael to Sai...
She shook her head, confused. "So, you want me to talk to Colette about this?" she asked, trying to get to the bottom of this mess--the mess that was not about demons. That was something totally different. "And...Ace--Sylar--has a plan to do what, exactly?"

"Who's Lilith?"
"Queen of the Underworld," Essence replied. "And I'm not even exaggerating." Her hand over his leg tightened a little, ensuring him of her presence. She knew he was uncomfortable with all this, but it they couldn't back out now. Especially not with what was at stake.
"Are you okay?"
Essence passed Emma a smile and nodded. "Yeah, I'm all right, thanks. Just...upset about the whole situation," she admitted.
"So, you want me to talk to Colette about this?"
"Please," Essence requested. "If she won't listen to us, we thought maybe you and Dean could tell her. It's important that she knows about this." Ace had been deadset on killed Colette and her family. With Ace free as Sylar, it was almost a certainty that he would head for her and Charles and Laura again. They needed to be warned. Not just to spread the word and to make everyone aware, but so that they could protect themselves.
"And...Ace--Sylar--has a plan to do what, exactly?"
She turned to Ryder at that, unsure of how to answer. Sylar was a smart goddamn bastard and he wouldn't do something without a plan of action. He had gone through the trouble and pain of getting a new body. He had a plan, all right.

"So, you want me to talk to Colette about this?"
He looked at Essence, wary of how to answer that. Yeah, they wanted to warn people. But would Colette even think of listening to anything about Sylar, or Ace? A soft sigh escaped as his head dipped back. "If she won't listen to us, we thought maybe you and Dean could tell her. It's important that she knows about this." He bite his lip. Dean.. "Dean might not listen either." He spoke up. "Ace had a few run ins with him too.."
Ace sure did get around, like a used whore.
"And...Ace--Sylar--has a plan to do what, exactly?" They both looked at each other. "Not sure yet." He answered truthfully. "Whatever it is.. it's big." He confessed. "I can do some asking around, check out his usual hanging spots, see if anyone's heard anything about it. But.." He sighed. "Not gonna be easy." He looked to Essence.
"He wants me."

She leaned back in her seat, staring at Essence for a while. Queen of the Underworld? Her mouth scrunched into something less skeptical and more wary. She didn't want to admit this was real. There was no Underworld, or Hades, or Hell, or whatever...shit, there was a fucking Hell.
Swallowing, she nodded again, sighing and putting a hand over her stomach. She did what she could with her Empathy to make sure there was no out-of-hand kicking, though it was difficult to bypass her own emotions. "I'll do what I can; I mean...I'll try to talk to Colette. And Dean. I'm sure once they hear the truth they'll be able to help," she added brightly, with a little more encouragement, though she wasn't smiling yet.
Her heart lipped at the thought of another demon plotting against someone. She couldn't even give Ryder advice on what to do about someone coming after him, and his girlfriend. Saikoro had always stayed away because of Azrael... That couldn't happen to them. Essence was too lucky to have found Ryder to lose him.
"I wish I could be of more help," she confessed with a shrug of one shoulder. "Is there...anything else I can do?" Maybe she should tell Cian, too? Just in case.

"I'll do what I can; I mean...I'll try to talk to Colette. And Dean. I'm sure once they hear the truth they'll be able to help."
"S'all I'm asking," Essence was quick to assure her. "Just...do what you can, please. I know it might be hard because of...everything. But we gotta try." She couldn't have that riding on her conscience; if someone ended up getting killed and she had just kept what was going on to herself. They had to at least try to warn someone.
i"I wish I could be of more help," she confessed with a shrug of one shoulder. "Is there...anything else I can do?"
"I don't think so," Essence said, sparing a glance to Ryder. "Just listening to us is enough really. And keep an eye out for yourself, please. Especially with that baby in you." She managed to muster up a grin, lackluster but there at least, for that.
"He wants me."
Essence swallowed thickly and squeezed his hand almost too tightly. "He's not gonna get you," she stated, holding his eyes with hers.

"He's not gonna get you,"
He smiled faintly at her, pulling her close for a moment. "Wish I could believe that, Ess." He said softly with a sigh. He looked to Emma. "Thank you, just.. knowing someone else knows... it helps." He told her gently.
Rubbing at his neck, he stifled a yawn. "You two want anything to drink? It's on me." He smiled, taking to his feet. He waited for an answer from them, wondering where he could start looking for more info on Sylar's plan. Perhaps the lounge downtown?
