Ainslie sighed as she wandered into the Lone Wolf Bar, eyes flicking around. She had gotten a tip off about some "Weres" milling about the city and she wanted to know about them. Ainslie usually got the downlow of new creatures in before they really came about but she had been in the dark about this. And Ains hated being in the dark. So she had started asking around and Lone Wolf had come a few times so here she was, dressed the part. No one would mistake her for a Were of course but she thought she at least looked like she belonged in a bar like this one. She wanted to know more about these Weres, how they moved, thought, acted... Running a school for mutants made her very interested in the supernatural goings-on in New York City. If a Were showed up on her doorstep she wanted to know how to handle it. And if one broke down her door, she definitely wanted to know how to defend her students. She wasn't sure how much of a threat they could be yet though... And that's what tonight was all about; recon work. Taking a seat at the bar, Ainslie ordered a few fingers of whiskey from the debonair (and endlessly gorgeous) bartender. As she waited for her drink, she turned, leaning her back against the counter. Her eyes scanned over the crowd again taking it all in. Looked like a fun place, at least. Her drink arrived and she grinned wide, nodding to the tender. Sipping carefully, she watched him move about, and the cat behind the bar... Cat in a werewolf den? Interesting. Ainslie licked her lips and her eyes darted to the side surreptitiously. Honestly, some of these Weres... Damn good looking. And as of last night, she was calling herself a free agent. She knew how to take a hint; nearly a month of no contact? It was over with Sargon. Time to move on.

The were in me That's how Country boys roll - Billy Currington
No doubt everyone in this place was getting pissed at him. The only country bumpkin in the entire Yankee bar, playin' nothin' but country for the last hour and a half. Smirk on his face, he sipped at his beer, head bopping to the song that was playing. Door opening, more females came in. But he wasn't here for any of that, really. It was all about Colt and dragging his ass back home. Fuck, he had better things to do than sit in a bar. Sighing deeply, he moved to the bar, wanting a fresh cold one instead of this warm piss shit. " Hey, tender." he called the man over with a nod of his head, his country accent thick as can be. " Can I get another bud?" He smiled easily, turning to look around the place. News was, Colt was in here a few nights ago, but with all this other scents, he couldn't trace him. In fact, he'd given up for the night. He was just gonna roll with whatever happened. Besides, if colt could have a vacation, then so could he right? Right. the man came back with his drink and he nodded his thanks, popping off the top. Eyes catching red hair, he smirked, looking over at the woman. " Evenin'"

Ainslie couldn't help but bob her head to the music playing. She had something of a soft spot for country music. She was born and raised in New England; from Connecticut to New York and had never really done a day of manual labor in her life. But there was something...comfortable about the twang and the guitar and the dust and dirt you could practically feel in the singer's jeans. It was down and dirty and easy-going and something Ainslie had never had but would like.
Just as she was about to ask the bartender to give her something of a run-through on the idea of Weres, someone else stole his attention. Well, that was to be expected in a bar... Her eyes skipped to the man ordering but quickly looked away. He was hot and Ainslie didn't want to be caught blushing and stammering over him.
News was, Colt was in here a few nights ago, but with all this other scents, he couldn't trace him. In fact, he'd given up for the night. He was just gonna roll with whatever happened.
She watched as the tender popped the cap off the beer and passed it off to the man. He freshened her whiskey after, passing her a grin. Her mouth was open to ask him again and then, from off to the side, she head "Evenin'". Glancing over, she felt a blush touch her cheeks but ignored it. "Yeah, that's the time of day it is," she answered back with a playful grin.
Oh fuck, did she remember how to flirt? Well, they were about to find out, she guessed.

"Yeah, that's the time of day it is,"
He smirked, adjusting the hat on his head as he took a sip of the beer. "yeah i guess it is, huh?" He laughed easily. This was the first time in weeks he'd actually been in his birth form. It felt, different, to actually feel the laugh vibrate in his chest. Not just some snort before a soft howl in were form.
He paused a moment, eyes still wandering over to the woman. He smiled, head bobbing to the music as his foot tapped on the floor. Out of no where, his mouth popped open and asked; "You wanna dance?"
Where the... fuck did that come from? He asked himself, eyes evasive a moment. Can't just very well out and ask a girl to dance and not stick up to it. Taking in a breath, his eyes landed back on hers with a smile.
It was agonizing, the wait for her answer. It seemed as if time slowed down to a snails pase. He could hear his heart pounding in his ears. Fuck, his ears... he could feel it in his chest.

Turns out she didn't even really need much flirting skill. A second later he was asking her if she wanted to dance. A surprised laugh fell from her mouth as she smiled. Did she wanna dance? Well, why the hell not? But she'd let him suffer; just for a few seconds. She turned her smile to a soft smirk, head cocking a little. She downed the rest of her whiskey and set the glass on the counter, looking to him. "Sure," she said levelly. "Why the hell not, right?"
She rose then, heading for the dance floor backward, keeping her eyes on his. She hoped he would take the lead. The thought suddenly entered her mind. She didn't want to be the man. It had happened before and she sort of wanted someone else to do the chasing and the pushing for now. She was ready to lie back and be told what to do.
Smirking at that thought, she turned her back to him once she was at the dance floor. She started to head into the slight crowd, waiting for his move.

"Sure," she said levelly. "Why the hell not, right?"He smirked, watching as she headed to the dance floor, eyes still on him. Taking a large swig of his beer, he set it down and started after her. Just as they both got to the dance floor, the song changed, and he let out a laugh. Reaching out, he grabbed her hand and pulled her close. As they started dancing to it, he began to sing along. " Y'know, I'm kinda," He paused, taking in a deep breath. " Shocked ya said yes. I mean I don't even know you, I guess I don't since we're only dancing--and I'm babling. I'm sorry." He laughed softly, his accent thick. " But at least tell me if I'm doin' a good job at dancin'?" He smiled down at her.

She sidled close to him, dancing slow with him and grinning at the music. When he took her hand she chuckled softly, once more pretending the blush on her cheeks wasn't there. Getting a little bit lost in the music and rich voice of the man singing, a grin touched her lips as he began to sing along. 'Good voice,' she thought.
She lifted her eyebrows at his statement, nodding. "Yeah, well I was a little shocked you asked, to be honest." She grinned up at him, flicking the bill of his hat. "Shocked, but pleased," she added. He apologized for his babbling then, but she just shook her head. "No worries, I don't mind." Blushing a little, she admitted, "I like your voice; the accent." She had only ever really gone out with other fancily-bred, New England guys with those kinds of accents. His was raw; better.
Smirking a little, she danced even closer. God, she should be shocked at her behavior... "You're a very good dancer...." Fuck. "I don't even know your name," she admitted, eyes wide. She broke into laughter soon enough though, shaking her head. And her Mama would be so ashamed...

"Yeah, well I was a little shocked you asked, to be honest."
He smiled softly, twirling her around before bringing her close again "Shocked, but pleased," His smile grew into a grin. "S'that right?" He chuckled, as they continued to dance.
"No worries, I don't mind." Blushing a little, she admitted, "I like your voice; the accent."
His brow raised. "Yeah? I'm a mississippi boy." He grinned. "Kinda lost in the big city." He chuckled, spinning her again. "You're a very good dancer...." He chuckled. "Good to hear, cause I'm rusty as fuck." God, if only his momma heard him now.
"I don't even know your name,"
Something inside wanted to actually give her his first name. But then the wolf took over a moment, and before he knew it he was saying; "Gage." Swallowing roughly, he nodded. "Gage Turner."

"S'that right?" Ainslie smirked back, nodding. "That's right." He went on about where he was from and she couldn't help but grin. "Yeah? I've been down there a few times. Didn't get far outside the hotel though, to be honest" It had always been when her parents were there for business.
Ainslie laughed freely as he spun her, tripping over herself a bit and already blushing at it. "S'all right. I haven't been out much lately either." She hadn't been but was she ever enjoying this. It was nice to flirt and laugh and dance and blush with a man without any expectations or anything. It was nice to be wanted and chased a little bit.
"Gage," she repeated, trying the name out on her tongue. "Gage... I like that." Smiling a little, she replied, "My name is Ainslie. Ainslie Darling." She winced a moment later. She hadn't meant to give her real name. Usually got too much of a reaction... But they were dancing awfully close and she was already buzzed a bit from the two whiskeys and...she had slipped up a bit.

"That's right. S'all right. I haven't been out much lately either."
He smiled. "Now that's a shame." He paused a moment. "I'd figure a girl like you'd be havin' tons of guys chasin' after ya." He grinned down at her. "But I guess then I wouldn't be dancin' with ya now, would I?"
"Gage," she repeated, trying the name out on her tongue. "Gage... I like that." Smiling a little, she replied, "My name is Ainslie. Ainslie Darling."
He smiled softly. "Ainslie Darling. Well, tickle me pink." He laughed. "You sure are a darlin' ain't ya?" He chuckled softly. "I think it fits you well."

[[s'all good ^^]] She laughed openly at what he said, shaking her head. "Not at all... You'd be surprised." Feeling something playful take over her, Ainslie reached up and pulled the cap from his head. Fitting it over her red hair, she smirked up at him. "But I guess then I wouldn't be dancin' with ya now, would I?" She nodded at that, replying, "Well, then I guess we're both lucky I don't have 'tons of guys chasin' after' me after all, huh?" "Ainslie Darling. Well, tickle me pink. You sure are a darlin' ain't ya?" She laughed softly with him, a light blush finding her cheeks and nose. "Oh I wouldn't know about that," she shot back, smile growing to a challenging grin. "I think it fits you well." Dancing closer once more, she looked up at him frum under the brim of his hat and said, "Well, thanks." The song switched again; a sexy, fast classic that Ainslie loved. Swinging her hips a little more over his, she called over the Aerosmith, "So, what brings a 'Mississippi boy' like you to the Big Apple?"

"Well, then I guess we're both lucky I don't have 'tons of guys chasin' after' me after all, huh?"
He laughed softly, nodding. "Guess so." he grinned as she took his hat and placed it on her own. Smirking softly, he took her hand and spun her around one last time. "Oh I wouldn't know about that," He smiled. "I don' know, I only just met ya and I can tell you're a darlin'." He smirked.
"Well, thanks."
"Well, you're welcome." He replied back swiftly, a smile on his face as the song changed. He knew Aerosmith, from the moments he wasn't listening to country, it was rock. As she danced closer to him, his hands went to her hips.
"So, what brings a 'Mississippi boy' like you to the Big Apple?"
He grinned at how she said 'Mississippi boy'. "Well, to be honest. My brother." He told her, rather loudly so he could be heard over the music. "He took off and, let's just say being the oldest, and the responsibility never ends." He grinned.
"So, where ya from Miss Darlin'?"

She smiled, nervous butterflies leaping to life in her stomach at the feel of his hands on her hips. After a moment of internally calming herself down, she moved her hands to his as well. At the last second though, something terribly hormonal in her took over and she slid her hands down, fitting them into his back pockets. Oh Christ. She was acting like a teenager.
Well, why not? Why not have some fun with the hot, Southern boy who was dancing this close to her? She was a free agent. And after all, she was looking to learn more about Weres. Judging by the raw animinalism radiating from this man he was definitely one of the lycanthropes.
"Well, to be honest. My brother. He took off and, let's just say being the oldest, and the responsibility never ends."
She laughed softly at that, nodding. Wasn't that cute? Searching after his little brother... She could respect that, though. If she wasn't looking after her students, she was looking after her siblings. "Good luck," she offered sincerely. "Luckily I'm the middle child... But I always somehow get wrapped up helping them all out anyway." She smiled fondly thinking of her brothers and sisters.
"So, where ya from Miss Darlin'?"
"Connecticut," she replied. "But I've been in New York City for quite a bit now. Gotta say, it suits me better than all the ivory columns and gilded floors of New Haven." Wasn't that the truth. Not to mention there wasn't someone who was in the DAR with her mother or who played golf with her father every time she turned around.

The moment her hands his his back pocket, he smirked, raising a brow at her. Not a moment later he was laughing softly, and moving as close as he could to her. "Good luck." He smiled softly. "Thanks. I gotta feelin' I'mma need it."
"Luckily I'm the middle child... But I always somehow get wrapped up helping them all out anyway."
He laughed, knowing all too well how that was. "How many siblings?" He asked, leaning into her ear so she could clearly hear him, without having him to scream the question at her. Like some kind of drunken fool.
"Connecticut," she replied. "But I've been in New York City for quite a bit now. Gotta say, it suits me better than all the ivory columns and gilded floors of New Haven."
He nodded slowly, swaying to the music with her. "A true Yank, then huh?" He grinned. "Connecticut. Never been." He offered. "Sounds a little too fancy for me. I like being outdoors, feeling the earth under my feet." He smiled.

"Thanks. I gotta feelin' I'mma need it." Ainslie smiled softly, tilting her head to meet his eyes. "What're you doing dancing with me then when you should be out looking for him?" There was a teasing note in her voice and a sparkle in her eyes though. She was only joking of course; she was very happy he had taken the time to dance with her.
"How many siblings?" His voice so close to her sent a little shiver down her spine. "Six: Lewis, Josh, Carolyn, Haden, Schuler, Blake," she rattled off. Raising on her tiptoes, she put her mouth near his ear to ask her question. "Is your younger brother your only one?"
"A true Yank, then huh?" She laughed softly and nodded. "You could say that, I guess. Hope that's not a bad thing." Smirking, she swayed along with him, feeling her hair swing over her shoulders. "Connecticut. Never been. Sounds a little too fancy for me. I like being outdoors, feeling the earth under my feet."
"Consider yourself lucky," Ainslie replied. "It's definitely way too fancy. Too cold. No one has emotions in Connecticut." Well, that didn't sound bitter or anything... Laughing softly, she shook her head. "Sounds good to me. Never got dirty in my life much," she admited. But it was something she could definitely learn to love, she though.

"What're you doing dancing with me then when you should be out looking for him?"The song had changed again, but he paid no mind. Except noticing it was slower. His arms wrapped around her as they continued to dance, his mouth close to her ear. " Truth be told." He smiled. " I'd much rather be dancin' with you, then lookin' for him." Which was odd, but hell, he was enjoying this moment. He smiled, looking into those beautiful light green eyes. "Six: Lewis, Josh, Carolyn, Haden, Schuler, Blake," He nodded. She had the same amount as he did. Only difference was, she was blessed with being the middle child. She leaned in closer to his ear, and spoke softly, asking a question. "Is your younger brother your only one?" He smiled. " I wish. No, there's six... Well, five." He cleared his throat slightly, getting a chill from her hot breath on his neck. "Consider yourself lucky," Ainslie replied. "It's definitely way too fancy. Too cold. No one has emotions in Connecticut."He continued to sway slowly with her, nodding lightly. " Not my kinda place at all." He chuckled softly. "Sounds good to me. Never got dirty in my life much," He pulled away a little to look at her. " Now, that's a shame. Every girl should dance in the rain, and go mud slidin'," He smirked.

"Truth be told. I'd much rather be dancin' with you, then lookin' for him." A dizzy feeling came to Ainslie's head at Gage's words. Aw shit, she was already getting in too deep with this boy. "I'm glad for that," she murmured. "Very glad..." The slower song and his proximinty had her voice going sultry. She tucked her face into his neck then, enjoying the slow movements so close to him...
"I wish. No, there's six... Well, five." "So six counting you," she confirmed. "Dunno how our mother's do it. Seven kids darting around..." She shook her head. She wanted kids of course. She really wanted kids. But seven... Thinking on it further, she imagined all the chaos. All the sounds and movement and energy. Everything that she got at Bellaza... Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all. She smiled a little at the thought. If she ever found herself a father, that was.
He pulled away to meet her eyes and she felt something inside her flip a little. "Now, that's a shame. Every girl should dance in the rain, and go mud slidin'." Swallowing softly, she got control of her head again and managed a smirk. "Yeah? Sounds like fun. Haven't done either but they sound like loads of fun..." She could just imagine going all crazy, getting dirty...letting loose and living free. "Never really had the opportunity to which I'm starting to think is a real shame."
The song finished and something pop-y came on. Wrinkling her nose a little, Ainslie pushed close to Gage again, under the pretense of being heard over the music. "I could use another drink... Can I buy you a cold one?" She cocked her head toward the bar, hoping he would accept.

I'm glad for that," she murmured. "Very glad..."
He let out an airy laugh. "Me too." He whispered into her ear. "So six counting you," He bite his lip, wondering if he should tell her or not. "No, five. Including me. Minus... My sister." He swallowed roughly, already feeling a bit of rage at the whole situation all over again.
"Dunno how our mother's do it. Seven kids darting around..."
He laughed softly. "Ain't that the truth. God bless 'em." He smiled. "My momma's the kind of person who doesn't take any crap from any of her kids. So we learned quickly not to get on her bad side." But boy, Colt was in it good.
"Yeah? Sounds like fun. Haven't done either but they sound like loads of fun... Never really had the opportunity to which I'm starting to think is a real shame."
"It is." He laughed, listening somewhat to the music playing in the background. "Someday we'll have to fix that." As if they'd ever see each other again. And for some reason, as soon as that thought crossed his mind, a sinking feeling his his stomach.
The song changed and his head shook. He hated this kind of music. "I could use another drink... Can I buy you a cold one?" He smiled down at her. "The country boy in me says no." He grinned. "Only cause it's only right for the man to buy the first round." He paused, taking in a breath. "But if you insist." He smirked.

"No, five. Including me. Minus... My sister." Ainslie bit her lip, picking up easily on his change of tone. She wondered if...well, obviously. "Oh," she breathed out, at a loss for a moment. "I'm... I'm sorry, Gage." She couldn't imagine losing one of her brothers or sisters. They were too... Poor Gage. She had the sudden urge to pull him into a tight, tight hug but she refrained.
As Gage talked about his mother, Ainslie couldn't help the pang of regret she felt go through her. She and her parents had never got along at all. And hearing the way he talked about his mother, Ainslie wished she could have had that sort of relationship. Then again...well, Arianna and Maxwell Darling had never made it very easy. For something entirely unrelated though, Ainslie just about melted at the way he said "Momma."
"Someday we'll have to fix that." Something like hope bloomed in her stomach."Yeah? I'd like that." As if she'd ever see his face again. Which was a damn shame but she figured that's how this worked. At least she could enjoy the rest of the night with this fine specimen.
"The country boy in me says no." He grinned. "Only cause it's only right for the man to buy the first round." Her heart skipped a bit at his first statement but she ended up laughing softly. Swatting his chest playfully, she took his hand and wove through the crowd on the floor, heading back to the counter. "But if you insist." Smirking she turned to face him, keeping his hand in hers and walking backward. "I do insist. Besides, we each had a drink before this, so technically this is the second round yeah?" Eyes sparkling, she went on, "Tell you what; if it makes you feel better you can buy round number three."
Which should probably be her last round. Anything after three drinks and she would get stupid and act silly and make bad, bad decisions...

"Oh," she breathed out, at a loss for a moment. "I'm... I'm sorry, Gage."
He smiled softly, shaking his head. "It was a long time ago." Despite the words coming out of his mouth, his heart ached. Smiling, he watched as she took his hand and lead him back to the bar, again she was walking backwards.
"I do insist. Besides, we each had a drink before this, so technically this is the second round yeah?" Eyes sparkling, she went on, "Tell you what; if it makes you feel better you can buy round number three."
He laughed easily, shaking his head. "Alright. Round three is mine." He grinned, watching as another were stood up. Not watching were he was going, he bumped into Ainsle's back. "Watch where your going!" Gage's eyes fixed on him. "You watch where you're goin'. You're the one who bumped into her." He threw back.
"Boy, watch your mouth." Gage smirked, walking closer to him. "Excuse me, I didn't hear you. Did you just tell me to watch my mouth?" Gage's jaw set as he raised a brow at the man.
