BitterSweetLost in the arms of destinyNotes; This is right as Lucifer rises. Open to all and any who'd like to join. She'd been in a daze the last few days. Life had it's ways of catching up to you, and it certainly had with her. The pressure of the schools, her home life, being a wife, and a mother of three.. it was all becoming too much for her to handle anymore.
She'd forgotten why she started all of this.. She'd begun forgetting just who she was. A soft sigh escaped her as the silence surrounded her like a blanket of death. Her fingers strummed on the kitchen table as she stared at nothing but her reflection in the mirror across from her.
Who have I become? I don't.. even recognize myself anymore.. She took a deep breath, and just as she let out a sigh, screams filled the air around her. She quickly jumped to her feet. Her eyes scanned around, looking for her students, Laura, and Charles.
The door suddenly busted open and in walked one of her newest, a boy, not merely sixteen as he stammered through the door. "J-Jonathon?" He reached out to her, she was paralyzed as she stared at him.
Blood spilled from his mouth as he gasped for air in her arms. Snapping out of her daze, she laid him down on the wooden floor. "W...what..?" She lifted her hand on his chest, it was covered in blood.
As her eyes fell down to him once more... that's when she noticed it...
His heart was gone.
And Jonathon, was dead.

Shaelynne had just been practicing when it started. In her room, she was channeling her power, using her telekinesis. She was playing with a few superballs she had picked up at the mall, making them spin in circles, bouncing them against the wall and then stopping them before they got to far away. She was actually having fun; she was proud of herself. She was getting really good. Until the screams. The piercing shrieks broke through her concentration. The bouncy-balls fell with force and ricocheted wildly, hitting the ceiling and walls. She jumped and made off toward the main floor, hoping to God it was just Laura playing around or something. Clamoring down the stairs, she only got half-way before she saw. "Oh God," she gasped out, watching as Colette pulled back a bloody hand from Jonathan's chest. Oh... God, she knew Jonathan...had known him. And he was dead. There was a gaping hole where his heart should have been! "What happened?" she asked, near tears as she moved the rest of the way. She met Colette in the middle of the floor, eyes wide. She stifled her tears quickly. She didn't know what was going on, but she knew that this wasn't a time for crying, for fear...for weakness. No time for weakness.

"Oh God,"
She could hear her.. but all she could do was stare at her hand, and then to Jonathon. Her mouth slightly open, her hands began to shake as she turned to face Shaelynne. "I... He's..." She was overwhelmed beyond belief as she looked back down to Jonathon.
"What happened?"
She shook her head, tears in her eyes as she finally looked out the open door. The sky had never been so dark.. Screams continued to fill the air as she slowly took to her feet. Gradually, she walked out the door and stood in the backyard, starring up at the sky as a orangish-red tint seemed to cover it.
"What... is going on..?"

Shaelynne dried her eyes, following Colette out. She too looked up at the sky, her mouth falling open. What was going on? She had never seen that color in nature before. Except...except for in fire. That was the exact burnt orange of fire. Fire in the sky... That couldn't be good.
She licked her lips nervously as she started to shake. There was too much...pressure on her. On her walls... And the voices were breaking through... She groaned softly as she moved a hand to her head. It was a jumbled mess; she could barely make out any words. Just screams and pain and prayers for help. She rubbed a hand over her face and tried to speak.
"It's all over," she choked out. "Everywhere. There's...something happening. Something big and really bad." She sniffled, steadying herself. Finally she was able to open her eyes and looked to Colette. "And s'gonna get worse," she predicted.

Mesmorized, stunned, completely and utterly shocked. That's what she was. Fire.. fire in the sky. Her eyes slowly fell from the sky as she saw a form ten feet from the backyard. The screams.. they were getting so loud, and yet so soft at the same time..
"It's all over," she choked out. "Everywhere. There's...something happening. Something big and really bad." She sniffled, steadying herself. Finally she was able to open her eyes and looked to Colette. "And s'gonna get worse,"
Just as she was going to turn and say something, another student came running at her. Just as she reached Colette, blood shot out of her neck, spraying Colette with the red substance. Slowly re-opening her eyes, she watched as Ava fell to the ground before them.. dead.
Her body began to shake as she looked down at herself. So much blood...

Shaelynne gasped, letting out a little cry. She pressed her hand over her mouth, tears falling again. She stood frozen at her spot, eyes glassy. "Ohhh," she moaned, pained. Giving a shaky breath, she rushed to Colette. "Colette... Colette, we have to...get help. We have to call someone. We can't just stay here!"
She was shaking. She took Colette's shoulder in her hand, meeting her mentor's eyes. "We have to get help," she said slowly, swallowing. 'Please, God. Please. Whatever is going on... Help us. Let us get through this. Please.' She didn't know if praying was any good at this point but it wouldn't hurt to try, right? "We should get to the other professors. Let them know what's going on. Strength and safety in numbers."
And she couldn't stand to watch more of her friends die.

What was happening.
They'd been walking to Biella--to get some fresh air and see some old friends, Daddy said--and something strange started to happen. The sky. Something was wrong with the sky. And the poeple. Everyone was scared--even Daddy, who was holding Mommy, who was holding Maura. Oliver had dashed out of his father's hold and made a beeline for Biella, wanting to get inside as fast as he could. The sky...
As he burst through the front door he crashed into Colette and Shaelynne, tears pouring down his face, shaking in fear. "Co-Lee!" he screamed, clinging to her leg. "Co-Lee, Mommy and Daddy! Why it like dat out dere?"
What was going on?

"Colette... Colette, we have to...get help. We have to call someone. We can't just stay here!"
Yes.. can't just stand here and watch it all go down. Colette shook her head, still starring at the blood that was sprayed on her clothes and face. "Right." She took a deep breath, but still couldn't move. The screams became louder as more people came into the yard. Most humans, some of them were students. "GET INSIDE!" She screamed at them.
"We should get to the other professors. Let them know what's going on. Strength and safety in numbers."
Right.. safety in numbers. She quickly turned to Shaelynne. "Go, tell the other students to get into the hidden room now. Once you're done, come back down here. I'll need your help." She told her, but suddenly something hit her.
"Co-Lee!" he screamed, clinging to her leg. "Co-Lee, Mommy and Daddy! Why it like dat out dere?"
She looked down at a scared Oliver. She quickly picked him up and held him close as she looked down at the two bodies laying in the foyer. Blood was soaking into the floor by the second. "Oliver.. honey.. I need you to be brave right now. You know the kitchen? Go.. hide in the lower cabinets until I come for you, okay?" She placed him down and gave him a shove before grabbing the hand of Jonathon and pulling him outside and around the corner.
No one should have to see this..

Viviane was very frightened. She had had to run away from Terry--she did not want the sweet girl to know what exactly she was, but she couldn't ignore the tug she felt to help, to fight. These demons did not belong on Earth. Viviane herself didn't really belong on Earth either, but she was helping. She was shedding some light on someone's life.
But what could she do? She wasn't even a high-ranking angel, and she could do really nothing. She was useless. She wandered around the streets like a lost puppy, shrinking at every loud noise and glancing fearfully up at the shadowy orange sky every few seconds.
Then she heard the screaming. Her eyes widened, and she ran, bouncing slightly as she went, not away from, but to the place that such terror was radiating off of. She skidded into the backyard, and felt slightly queasy. Blood, blood, everywhere. She could not stand blood. She trembled slightly as she walked up to Colette, her eyes widening even more as she saw the body Colette had.
It had no heart.
This was worse than she had thought. She shook slightly more, except this time, not with fright. With anger. She was going to seriously hurt whoever could do this to people. It was disrespect. No, worse than that. It was... "C..Can I.. help?" she asked Colette, just wanting to do something. Not that she could be much help to the Angels--the ones with power, that was.

Be brave? Brave like Daddy, and Uckle Dee. Yeah, he could do that. He hoped. But that meant leaving. And where were his parents? Clinging to Colette, he didn't like being put down. The shove told him it wasn't about what he liked or what he wanted. Something wasn't right here. "B-but what about Mommy and Daddy?" he wept, turning back around to face her on his way to the kitchen. Mommy and Daddy were still outside. What was going to happen to them?
Seeing the earnest look on her face and the bloody corpse she was dragging, Oliver felt himself become a little sick, and he whipped around, dashing out of the foyer and into the kitchen. He opened up a lower cabinet, scrambling into it after making enough room for himself. He huddled up close to himself, shutting the door, still crying.

"C..Can I.. help?"
Vivi.. Colette starred at her a moment as she let go of Jonathon's hand. "Viviane.. honey, please just go inside where it's safe, okay?" She smiled softly, looking back at Oliver. She worried about Emma and Cian out there..
"B-but what about Mommy and Daddy?"
She ran a hand through her hair, smearing the blood in her brown locks. "Oliver.. they'll.. they'll be okay. I'll go get them. okay? But first I need to know everyone here is safe. Okay? Go.. " She told him softly, watching as he ran off into the kitchen. "You too Viviane. Go hide in the kitchen cabinets." She told the little girl as she starred out the door.
Come on... Emma.. Cian.. Where are you?

She didn't know what she'd been thinking in the past months about being able to take on what Hell had to offer, even what Heaven was supposed to rain down on them. But right now there seemed to be a lot less Heaven, and a lot more of what she hadn't expected from Hell. The sky blackened, a thick coat or blanket, unwilling to remove itself, reddening fast. Worried with anticipation, she sunk closer to Cian, her hold on Mo becoming tighter, holding her closer to her body. Soon things got out of hand. Fire rained instead of Heaven. Lucifer appeared instead of God. Oliver disappeared. Panic surged through her as she started to dart toward the nearest shelter with her family, minus one. "Oliver!?" she screamed, though she knew she couldn't be heard over the chaos around her. Things bursting into flames, people battling, the earth coming undone right before her eyes. The streets cumbled and cracked. Buildings collapsed into heaps. People dying... " Oliver!!" Holy hell, where was he!? Her empathy latched onto something. Colette...

She bit her lip as she watched Ollie worry about his parents. The poor kid... She looked u at Colette, eyes pleading. She was not going to go hide! There had to be something she could do! Suddenly angry, her eyes flashed, but she quickly covered them back up with the illusion, hoping Colette would not have noticed.
Like it mattered though. All angels were showing themselves, as it didn't really matter more. Secrecy was no longer key--the key thing was staying alive. And fighting. And winning. Viviane shuddered every time she thought about what would happen to her and all of the Angels and surviving people if the war was won by Lucifer.
She was not gonna let the war be won by Lucifer.
She figured she didn't need the child-facade anymore. No one cared. She didn't care. "Colette. Listen to me. I can do more than you know." she paused, stopping to tone down her voice a bit. She didn't want to sound bossy. But she wanted to sound like she meant business--and that she was not just a child.
She was an angel, and she was gonna DO something. "What do you need done?" She asked again.

"Go, tell the other students to get into the hidden room now. Once you're done, come back down here. I'll need your help."
Shaelynne nodded and immediately dashed off. She tripped over herself as she ran through the halls, spreading the news like a veritable Paul Revere. Once she was sure she had told everyone inside, she skidded back to the door, heading for Colette. She nearly bowled over Oliver on the way. She laid a soft hand to his head, stopping a moment to ensure that he was all right. Then she was off again. Colette would have told him what to do; to get safe.
She headed back outside and saw Colette there, talking to Vivienne, trying to hide the dead body. Shaelynne kept her eyes far away from the prone Jonathan. "What d'you need?" she asked, struggling to breath. Before she could get an answer though, a throbbing mental thread broke through. 'Oliver!' She clutched her head a moment before concentrating on the link. 'He's safe, Emma,' she promised. 'He's at Biella. Come here.'

"Colette. Listen to me. I can do more than you know. What do you need done?" "What d'you need?"
She wished everyone would stop asking her what she needed. She needed for them to stop assuming she knew what to do. She looked between them, panic coursing through her body as she swallowed hard. "Uh.." She breathed hard as she tried to think. All the screams, the chaos.. it was effecting her to the point her mind wasn't hers any more. She couldn't think straight!
Voices of the people outside prtruded her mind, and then, that's all she heard. Screams, cries for help, prayers to be safe and not die.. She wished it to all end. Wished she knew what was happening.. "I don't know!" She shouted at them as she grabbed Mia's hand and drug her outside. "Help me.. Oliver doesn't need to see this." She told them, tears threatening to fall.
Where was Charles? Laura? Dean? Emma? Where was everyone when she needed them the most!

She could see Colette was distressed. Anyone would be. Most looked up to Colette, and now--people were demanding of her plans that she didn't have! Well then, Vivianne would have to decide what to do on her own. There had to be someone he could help...
Her eyes glades back to that crying face, distorted by fear, worrying about Mommy and Daddy. Biting her lip, she barely glanced at Colette or Shaelynne as she caged to where Ollie was, hidden in a cabinet.
Viviane crammed herself in it, once more appreciating the advantages of being somehwat small. She huddled close to Oliver in yhe semi-darkness. "Dont be af-waid, Oyyie," she said, deciding she would keep up her act around him. She dint want to confuse him. "Yo' Mommy n Daddy e's fine. But we gotsa wait for dem to come. We gotsa be safe." she leaned closer. "Dun cy' dun worry. S'all gonna be otay."

Something told her to keep going. She didn't know what it was, but something urged her to continue on toward Biella. Something told her Oliver was all right, that he was there. Maybe, just maybe, he'd gone ahead to get to some place safe. But what if she and Cian didn't make it there with the same fortune? She couldn't think of losing him; leaving him. Without much thought other than that--she had to get to her boy, goddamn it!--Emmanuelle grabbed her husband's hand and took off at a speed she didn't know she had in her, dodging flying objects, rubble, abysses in the ground, fire flying upwards from sewer holes and falling from the sky.
Shit. This was happening. Hell was rising.
What was going to happen to them?
She clutched her baby to her chest, barely able to hear her screams. Even she couldn't send her any emotions through her empathy. She was too seized by concentration...determination, and fear. Emma burst through the door of Biella before she realized what had brought her there.

Maura screamed unendingly as Momma ran. She pressed her face into her mother's shoulder and clutched tight. It was loud and dark and then suddenly BRIGHT and then dark again and everything was too fast and Momma was scared and so was Daddy and she didn't know where her brother was! Her cries gave way to rasping breaths as she struggled to keep her lungs working.
Something in her sensed when debris got in the way and she took care of it for Momma quickly, making it explode to nothingness so Momma could run without tripping. She wanted Oliver! She wanted her nice soft bed with Oliver sitting next to her and Momma and Daddy singing to her. She wanted this over!
--
Cian could only struggle to keep up with his wife. He got clumsy when he was anxious which led him to trip over every other thing. But he fought to stay close to her. Oliver had run off and...they really needed to find him! Because... Apparently everything they had feared was coming true and this was Hell on Earth. And he needed his son!
He swore harshly as he tripped on thin air again. Finally, though, they made it to Biella, crashing through the doors. "Oliver!" he bellowed, only vaguely aware of the pandemonium around them. He caught sight of Andrua pulling Benson into the hidden room. She was crying thickly, seemingly trying to convince him to go with her instead of heading outside. He couldn't blame Benson.
But before he got out in the thick of things, he wanted to find his son. "Oliver!" he called again.

Shaelynne nodded at Colette's frantic orders. She tried to just obey and think for herself, recognizing Colette's distraught feeling. Once they had taken care of the bodies, she turned to her mentor. Placing a hand on either of Colette's shoulders, she tried to prevent transferring any more blood onto Colette. "Let me call Ainslie and Vera and Axel. You go find your family, yeah?"
She hurried back inside, catching sight of Emma and Cian along the way. "He's this way!" she shouted, waving a hand for them to follow. She headed into the kitchen where Vivienne was talking to Oliver. "There," she said breathlessly, pointing.
Moving to the phone, she dialed Ainslie quickly. After a brief conversation, they were hanging up. She was staying at Belleza. It was too risky to get them all to Biella and then they would at least have another sancuary to hold other stray mutants and humans. Shaelynne sighed, trying not to give into tears. This was not the end of the world.....
Fuck. It kind of was.

Everything was happening too quickly. The earth shook and trembled as buildings began to collapse. Her brows furrowed as she saw two people in the distance.. was that? Emma and Cian? The closer they got, the more relived Colette became. "Thank god you're okay." She told them, trying to reamin calm in the middle of all this chaos.
She nodded, watching Shaelynne take off to make calls as she stood there at the door, wide open. Inviting more and more people to come inside. She grabbed her cell from her pocket and made a call to Charles--no answer. Second on her list was Laura--no answer. She wondered if this was because of the cell towers going down?
She'd allow herself one more try, this time calling Dean. Hearing his frantic voice and prefuse language, made her smile. "Get over here.. Are you okay?-- No she's not here...No.. I can't find them-- They're not answering their cell.. Yeah.. Okay.." She closed her eyes a moment as a tear escaped. "Alright." She told him, hanging up.
The house was getting full. She stood there, starring at the faces that starred right back at her. Waiting for some kind of orders.. some kind of hope... But what could she offer them? What could she say?
