"I can imagine. It's rough; losing your dad at such a young age."
She nodded slowly. "It is." She paused, taking in a breath. "I mean he wasn't around much..." She closed her eyes. Was she bashing his good name, because he worked hard for them? "He worked... alot."
She watched as he handled Eliza. She laughed softly as Eliza patted at his face. "Well, a pretty girl like her can't help but be the center of attention." She grinned. "She's... she knows she has people wrapped around her tiny fingers."
As he looked at Parker, so did she. Poor boy, was fast asleep, like clockwork. Smiling softly, she ran a hand over his head gently. "Y'know, you got some great kids, Colette," She smiled, looking up to look into his eyes. "Thanks." She paused. "It's good to know, the last thing I want is to screw up their life."

Mal nodded, eyes on the little girl in his arms. Seemed all the business with her late husband was still a little fresh. For everyone involved. Mal made a note to tread carefully on that topic.
Malcolm chuckled happily, nodding. "Oh, I can tell." He caught one of Eliza's tiny hands in his own and shook it a moment. Bringing it to his mouth, he nommed it playfully with his lips over his teeth. He earned a happy almost-laugh in response, bringing a bright smile to his face. "How could anyone not love her?" Bouncing a bit, he passed a look to Colette, eyes smiling.
"You're welcome," he answered easily. "Hey, good kids are a product of good raising, right?" He could tell these kids got everything they needed from their mom; whether that be a hug or a punishment.
Eliza apparently wasn't happy about not getting Mal's full attention and patted the side of his face. Unfortunately, she happened to catch a bruise on the underside of his jaw. Mal winced immediately letting out a pained, "Oooooh." He had taken a solid uppercut to the jaw two night ago and it was still hurting a bit. Had forgotten about that.

"Oh, I can tell. How could anyone not love her?"
She couldn't help but smile, as she watched their interaction. It was such a beautiful morning. She found a sigh pushing from her lips as she watched the three boys run around in the yard. A smile skimmed her lips before looking back to Malcom as he nommed on Eliza's fingers. "Exactly." She chuckled.
"You're welcome," he answered easily. "Hey, good kids are a product of good raising, right?"
Why was it that the question asked, made her smile only slightly? "I don't know." She whispered back. I feel like it's unfair that they have only me to turn to... She thought, brows furrowing as she looked down at her hands.
"Oooooh."
Her head lifted quickly. "Are you okay?" She asked softly, moving to look at his jaw. "Y'know, I can heal that." She smiled, pointing at the bruise. "I mean..." She laughed softly. "If you want me to."

"I don't know."
Malcolm's smile fell a bit as he ducked his head to catch her eyes. "Hey. I've only just met your kids and I can tell you do a good job. You know that right?" His forehead tightened a little as he studied her. Clearly she did a great job. Her kids were well-adjusted, provided for, loved. Hell, she had been drunk at a bar flirting with him and the first topic she had gone to was her kids. They were always on her mind, at the front, and that was the mark of a good mother. He frowned slightly, hoping that Colette knew that about herself.
After the pain subsided, he opened his eyes and nodded. "Yeah, yeah. Fine. if I can take on a 500 pound buffalo-looking guy I can handle this little girl." He grinned, blowing a raspberry on Eliza's stomach.
Brows lifting in pleasant surprise he asked, "Really? You can?" Awesome. He had accelerated healing but it wasn't as good as just healing something with the snap of your fingers. "Yeah, could you?" He gave it a second thought though and added quickly, "As long as it won't make you tired or anything like that."

"Hey. I've only just met your kids and I can tell you do a good job. You know that right?"
A small smile on her face, she nodded. A soft laugh pushing from her lips before she took to her feet. "Yeah, I know. It's just, a new single mother... thing." She smiled, walking over to the sink and running the hot water for the dishes. She smiled over at Eliza as she caught her attention. "Are you enjoying beating up Mal, huh?" She laughed.
"Yeah, yeah. Fine. if I can take on a 500 pound buffalo-looking guy I can handle this little girl.
She grinned, nodding as she added dish soap into the mix of the water. "Let's see how strong you are after taking an all nighter with that one when she has colic. Not fun." She smiled, adding the dishes into the water.
"Really? You can? Yeah, could you? As long as it won't make you tired or anything like that."
She wiped her soaked hands in the dish towel next to the sink and smirked over at him. "Yes, yes really." She laughed. "Of course." She smiled. "No, no. No tiredness or anything. You're talking to a mom who runs a home for mutant kids who always get hurt some shape or form." She laughed out a sigh. "I use it daily."
Smiling, she leaned over, placing her hands on his cheeks. Eliza smiled, stopping whatever it was she was doing to watch her mommy. "Just," She paused, a slight blush creeping on her cheeks. "Stay still." Taking in a breath she closed her eyes, feeling herself opening up to heal his internal bruise on his jaw. Her hands moved from his cheeks to her neck, healing the area completely.
Eyes slowly opening she smiled slowly, dropping her hands to her sides again. "There ya go." But there were those eyes again, drawing her in. She couldn't help iherelf, it was like she was hypnotized. "Just," She whispered before her lips crashed on his.
