"Is she okay?"
Ainslie shook her head, grinning at her friend. "Not at all. Colette has never been okay," she joked.
"I'm fine.. I just.. can't stop." That gave Ainslie idea. She bounced excitedly a moment and reached for Evan's iPod. Scrolling through the music list a moment, she found the song she wanted. Cutting off JC Chavez mid-chorus, she played the song, she wanted: "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" by none other than Michael Jackson. As the disco-beat permeated the kitchen, Ainslie laughed happily and once more started to groove in her seat a little.
"Oh Jack.. you're so smooth."
Ainslie shook her head at that, feigning anger. "Hitting on my man like that." She lifted her own bottle of Jim. "But that's okay. Jimmy here will keep me occupied in the meantime." She took a small swallow; not wanting to get completely trashed yet.
To Evan, she asked, "D'you think you're drunk enough yet? To discuss Shames and that whole deal?" She didn't want to push it, but Ainslie was curious.

"Not at all. Colette has never been okay," she joked.
"Hey!" Colette spoke up, hitting Ainslie's arm playfully. "I resent that Ains!" She laughed, shaking her head. She stared at her friend, watching her jump about as she played with Evan's Ipod. "Now she's lost it." She commented to Evan, as the song blared into the kitchen.
"Oh god." She laughed, shaking her head. She danced along with Ainslie in her seat, too drunk to even think of moving from her spot. "Hitting on my man like that." She lifted her own bottle of Jim. "But that's okay. Jimmy here will keep me occupied in the meantime." Colette nodded, a weird and odd look on her face as laughter erupted from her once again. "Making love to ole Jim Bean, eh Ains?" She joked.
"D'you think you're drunk enough yet? To discuss Shames and that whole deal?" Colette looked over at Evan, having to admit she was curious as well... ---
Evan shook her head, laughing at their antics as she watched them. They seemed so close, the best of best friends. Evan only smiled brighter as Michael Jackson sprouted into the kitchen. She danced along with the other woman, now drinking from the bottle herself.
"Oh." She breathed out, laughing softly. "Um.. yeah. I can talk about it." She shrugged. "Not much to say really. I don't know what he's thinking or feeling.. So.." She let out another soft laugh. "I don't know. my powers suck." She muttered, taking a large gulp of the crown royal--straight from the bottle.

"Hey!" Colette spoke up, hitting Ainslie's arm playfully. "I resent that Ains!"
"And I resent you hitting me, CoCo!" she replied, swatting her arm back lightly. She grinned to her friend though, letting her know she was only joking. "Now she's lost it." Ainslie only pulled a face at Colette for that, not bothering to reply verbally. At this point in her drunkness, she would probably only get the words mixed up anyway.
"Making love to ole Jim Bean, eh Ains?"
"Hey, he never lets me down," Ainslie reasoned, holding the bottle in her hand out to smile to it. "Some women like Ben&Jerry, I prefer Jim&Johnny." Ohh, but ice cream sounded good right about then... Maybe after, when some of her drunkenness had worn off...
"Oh." She breathed out, laughing softly. "Um.. yeah. I can talk about it." She shrugged. "Not much to say really. I don't know what he's thinking or feeling.. So.." She let out another soft laugh. "I don't know. my powers suck."
Ainslie's brow furrowed at that. "What do you mean your powers suck?" she asked confused.

"What do you mean your powers suck?"
Evan shook her head laughing. "I don't have useful powers. It's no big thing." She laughed, placing a hand to her cheek. "Getting the rush of alcohol to my head, woo." She blinked a few times. "I just don't have Empathy or Telepathy. I can't.. " She shrugged. "They suck." She chuckled softly.
--
Colette looked back to Ainslie. "Okay.." She laughed. "Honey, mine suck too. We don't really get to pick them." She giggled, taking another sip of Jack. "Well, Miss Darling." Colette looked to Ainslie with a smirk. "I much prefer Jack and Chuck." She giggled drunkenly.
"Jack gets me feelin' right and Chuck.. well." She blushed, smiling brightly.

"Ain't that the truth," Ainslie replied, lifting her bottle in a sort of salute. "You just gotta learn how to use your powers to your advantage. Manipulate the ones you got to fit the situation," she said. "As for empathy and telepathy..." She frowned a little, looking to Colette. "Just as Shaelynne, huh CoCo? She's had tons of trouble with the baggage of those powers. Hell, just as Jossie 'bout the problem with empathy alone."
Maybe there was a reason... "Why d'you want those two particularly?"
"Well, Miss Darling. I much prefer Jack and Chuck. Jack gets me feelin' right and Chuck.. well."
Ainslie stuck out her tongue briefly. In a mock-whiny voice, she imitated, "Oh, my name's Colette. I have a husband to satisfy my every need whenever I want. Blah, blah, blah." She fell into giggles immediately after. She wasn't really bitter, not toward Colette at least. She loved Charles and she knew he and Colette were happy together and that's all that mattered. But she did love to poke fun at her old friend.

Manipulate.. The dreams.. she could use that. But it still would come in handy to have at least Empathy. She sighed, nodding. "Right, I get it." She smiled, sipping some of her royal. "Why d'you want those two particularly?"
"Empathy.. so I know what Shames is feeling, and it would be nice to read his mind at times." She shrugged. "I mean with everything in my past and his.. present.." She leaned forward. "I don't know what to think."

"Right." She nodded. "Never easy reading minds--sometimes you want it off and it's on.. It's complicated." She sighed, rubbing her head. She turned, listening to Evan. "Oh.." She gave a nod. "Since the dawn of time, woman would want to know what men think, and vice versa."
"Oh, my name's Colette. I have a husband to satisfy my every need whenever I want. Blah, blah, blah."
Colette laughed, slapping her friend silly. "Ok miss dah-ling!" She chuckled. "I'm done, get this away from me." She laughed, pushing the bottle to the island.

Ainslie chuckled, nodding fervently. "I know that's the truth." To Colette, she added, "Yeah, I don't envy you the telepathy. Too many thoughts..." It would get crowded in there and Ainslie didn't think she would be able to handle it. "But I could definitely use the empathy, I think. It would help with you guys, at least," she said, nudging Evan with her foot. If she knew what her students and staff were feeling, then she could be better equipped to help them out, give them what they needed.
"I'm done, get this away from me." Ainslie grinned cheekily to her friend and sent all the alcohol back into the top cabinet with her telekinesis. "You've gotta stay here, CoCo. If not for the night, then at least for a few more hours." No way was she letting her best friend wander those streets when she was as drunk as she was...

"You've gotta stay here, CoCo. If not for the night, then at least for a few more hours."
"Yes, ma'am." She smirked over at Ainslie. "God... forbid." She paused, giving Ains a look. "I walk the streets drunk." She smiled softly. Leaning over and placing her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands. Her head turned, looking to Evan. "So..."
She raised a brow. "Shames, Corona, Lyra.. and you. What's with that situation?"
----
Evan laughed softly, nodding as Ains hit her foot. "Yes, it would help." Her head turned as Colette asked her what was going on with... everything. "She hit me." She shook her head, correcting herself. "I don't think she meant it.. it was with the door, on her haste to leave. Then.. I kinda.." She took a deep breath and let it gush out. "Kinda.. blew up at her. She was threatening to take Lyra away. I couldn't have that, not when Shames has been taking such good care of her."
She made a face, covering her face with her hands for a second. "Then there's the whole thing of... Lyra." She paused. "I don't think she likes me much. I mean, I can't really blame her. Here comes this woman and she's spending so much time with her daddy while he mommy is gone? I would hate me too." She said, looking down.
