Amarie perused the shelves in the back, looking at the small variety of childrens books. She picked up a nursery rhymes book, flipping through it, enjoying the old, elaborate looking pictures. She looked down at her belly--she wasn't all too big yet, but it was noticeable--and smiled. She and Sai were actually married now, and she was even pregnant...
And with three kids, might she add. Triplets... yeah, she was lucky. She laready had three kids and a dog. Why not three more? She and Sai would have a big family... but it was going to be really nice and perfect. She wouldn't have it any other way.

It was dance of the expecting women, once more.
Though Emma was only along five months herself, she started to feel different already. Her sickness was getting progressively worse, and the only reason she was here was because Cian was at work, Ollie was with the Winchesters, and her husband had asked her to pick up a book of names just for him. Because, 'his mind wasn't creative enough,' said the man who wrote songs. ((If Kit ever reads this, I bullshat that entire thing lol. So none of that actually happened if she doesn't want it to. xD))
She picked her eyes up, and saw a familiar face. A face she'd longed to see for a while, but feared. Feared what it might bring with it; who it might bring with it; how much she could trust it. Trust her. Amarie was in charge of her own life, but Emma was still bitter about her marrying her ex. The father of her child.
It would break Oliver's heart once he got older...

She turned around, looking at another shelf--with the nursery rhyme book under her arm--and then she saw her. Emma.... she had wanted to see Emma. But she didn't think Emma was very happy about the whole marrying-her-ex thing, or even still Molleigh and what had happened with Cain. That is, if Emma even understood the full story of that--there really was no way she could, but maybe someone had told her.
"Hey Emma," she said softly, switching her weight form one foot to the other, sort of nervous but really hoping that someday in the future that they could be good friends again.

The moment the voice went through the air, Emma felt her heart skip a beat; even felt the baby nudge her a little, as if to tell her to brace herself, and stay calm. I know, darling, I know. I'm trying. Please don't get restless. They weren't kicks yet, not yet--not even strong enough for Cian to feel them--but she knew a tap from her little nudger when she felt one.
She picked her head up with a friendly smile. "Hey, you," she greeted her. "Haven't seen you in a while."

"Hey Emma," said Amarie with a smile. "How's it going?" She grabbed another book off the shelf--an adventure-y looking one. It had great pictures too, and looked appropriate for young children. She out that book under her arm too.
"So.. what are you doing here, Emma?" Amarie smiled, but was slightly nervous. She figured why Emma would be in the children's section--another child? So Emma might have needed her maternity clothes after all...

Nervously she cleared her throat and hastily put back the book of names. They could get creative--he didn't need it that badly. "Pretty good," she answered calmly, hands shifting a few times before she settled them in front of her, clasped together.
"Um," she began to reply, "books. Y'know. Bookstore. I mean Oliver's growing out of Goodnight Moon and nursery rhymes by now, so I thought I'd pick him up something new." She evasively fiddled with Green Eggs and Ham. "What about you?"

Amarie watched Emma suspiciously. She had seen the baby names book that Emma had put back--and Amarie wasn't really that stupid. Well, if Emma didn't come clean with why she was here, that was fine with Amarie. She didn't have to lie or avoid certain questions--Amarie might even tell Emma that she was pregnant.
"I'm looking for good books for young babies." she shrugged, and went back to the shelf. Emma could interpret that correctly or not--Molleigh was still young enough to like baby books. But that didn't say anything about the three new little babies.
Triplets. God, how was she gonna deal with that when the time came?

Young babies? She bit her lip, but didn't say anything yet. Amarie could come out with it if she wanted to. Part of Emma wanted to think that she was just picking up books for Molleigh and Addy and Shay, but...she knew that just wasn't realistic.
"Maybe you can show me some. I can't think of anything for Ollie," she admitted with a chuckle to ease the tension of the conversation.

"Well, what does he like? Dragon, knights, and stuff? Cute fuzzy animals?" she smiled. Kids all had different tastes, she had found out--and if you didn't get them the right book, they'd keep you up all night.Just thinking of how hard it was to sleep when she had Molleigh, her thoughts once more turned to how she would manage with triplets. Three babies... Addy, Shay, and Molleigh.
She was sure glad she had Sai. Was Emma glad she had Cian?

Chuckling, she shrugged. "Oliver likes anything with pictures." He hadn't moved out of his fuzzy-animal phase, but he was getting more and more interested in more boy-like things, like race cars and knights in shining armor. Idly picking up a book that looked like something Oliver would enjoy, she cleared her throat, as if thinking of something to say.
Fuck, Emma wouldn't be able to live without Cian. He kept her together.
That got her curious... "So, how..." Goddamn it, this hurt. "How's Sai?"

"Oh, um, Sai's okay. He.... we.. uh..." Amarie wasn't usualy a very stuttering person, but it was beyond the realm of awkward to tlak with your ex-best-friend about your husband/her ex. She wasn't really sure Emma wanted to hear about it, so she lapsed into a silence.

She didn't want to seem shocked, but she couldn't stop the inevitable. The gesture was clear, and the statement led her to believe there was more than one... Oh, Jesus. The thought made her stomach flip. Oliver's half siblings...
Shit. She'd made a real mess of things when she was seventeen.
And poor Oliver! He was going to have to deal with having only half-siblings, some of which she never wanted him to know... Oh, shit, shit, shit.
Swallowing hard, she put on a smile. It was wonderful that Amarie and Sai's marriage was working. It was wonderful that he had found a place to fit in, a place where he was wanted and loved. That was what she wanted for him. So long as he was happy, she was happy for them.
"Wow. I mean, you're pregnant, aren't you? That's great, Am."

Her mind still circling on Sai-mode, she added, "Although sometimes I worry about him. Crying in his sleep... muttering about Ollie, I think. But other than that he's a great dad for Molleigh, Shay, and Addy." She shrugged and flushed slightly as Emma acknowledged her pregnancy.
"Yup," she smiled, which turned to more of an exasperated grimace as she added, "Triplets, the highest joy of all." She smiled, and knew she would love them all no matter how hard they made her work for them or how little sleep she got.

Muttering about Ollie in his sleep? Emma bit the inside of her cheek. He'd get over it eventually--hell, he had to. He wasn't going to see Oliver until she felt he was at an appropriate age to tell him about...everything. That wouldn't come for years yet. "Sorry to hear that," she acknowledged. "I hope he gets better." Sai needed to move on; be with his own family. God's sake...triplets.
"That's great!" she laughed in delight, pulling Amarie in for an instinctive embrace. Babies excited her, no matter who was having them. "I'm so excited for you. Do you have any names in mind?"

"Yeah, well, once the triplets are born he won't have to worry about it." she grinned. "Mostly because there'll be no sleep to be muttering in." She picked another book off of the shelf, at random, and flipped through it. It looked sort of long, but it was about toys coming to life. Thinking that it might encourage imagination, she shrugged and slipped it under her arm as well. Good thing she brought so much money.
Whatever reaction Amarie had been expecting, truthfully, it wasn't that. It felt nice to hug Emma though, without awkwardness. The last time they had shared a happy, nice hug was--was, well, back when Amarie found out of her pregnancy with Molleigh. "Oh, names... well, we like 'S' names so far. Like Sasha, Sonny, Soren, Sarah, stuff like that." She smiled softly at Emma. "I, uh, saw you were looking at a baby name book, earlier. Are you...?" Well Am had forgotten her manners. You never were supposed to ask a girl if she were pregnant. Especially if she actually wasn't.

It wasn't exactly reassuring to know that Saikoro was so obsessed with Oliver that he was muttering about him in his sleep. Definitely an unhealthy habit. But, like Amarie said, it should pass with the triplets. He'd finally get his own family, that place where he was knit in, where he really fit. It was...really good for him. Finally.
A place where he was happy.
"S" names. Hmm, maybe an "S" name could be a possibility for her baby. A sweet little Sean, or Saleen, or something. But she and Cian had really liked Colleen, or Luke, something like that. Oh, right, answering Amarie.
Emma cleared her throat nervously, rubbing the back of her neck. "Well, I mean..." Shouldn't she just come right out with it? "Yeah. We kind of jumped the gun, I guess," she chuckled. "Honeymoon baby."

She smiled at Emma. "Congrats!" she said softly, hugging Emma energetically. Both of them were pregnant. How perfect, right? Well, that was one person out for babysitting. Emma would be far too busy with her own kid in the future to have time to babysit. Not that she'd want to--she probably wouldn't want Ollie playing around with his half-siblings.
Half-siblings... How would she ever explain that to the triplets? And how would she ever explain that Molleigh's 'brothers and/or sisters' were only really half-related to her?
She would try and put that off as long as possible, it was for sure.

She figured it was just as hard for Amarie to deal with "your-siblings-aren't-really-your-siblings" as it was for her. But Emma wasn't having triplets. Still, she had to break it to her son eventually that his father turned into an ass, she broke up with him, and he went off and married her best friend. Oh, yeah. Piece of cake.
She smiled. "Thanks." Well, this was extremely awkward now. What to say from here? "So, 'S' names, huh? Cute."
Her mind drifted to her own little bit. A baby with Cian...

Amarie shrugged, sensing the awkwardness. "Yeah, but nothing's concrete yet. Have to wait a couple more months for that." she chuckled. She picked up a few more books off of the shelf.
"So... any names you're thinking of?" She smiled. Baby-talking was always fun. Even if there was such an awkward situation as these.
